Do you think I should ring them and say I made a mistake requesting coc forms, I could just say that I thought him being banned from school transport and me taking him warranted a mobility car (I know this isn’t true but I’ll play thick) I can then say I don’t want to go ahead with coc. I’ll just say I’d rather not do coc and keep award same etc.

I never know if ringing is the right thing to do or not or if your opening up more worms.

KeepGoingThomas · 27/12/2023 19:31

@danni0509 I think you should still do a COC. Have a look at page 2 of the Contact booklet I linked to. They cover where the child’s IQ isn’t in the severe learning disability range but DC can’t put that into practice. You may have to appeal but it sounds like DS is eligible.

It really isn’t lawful for the LA to wash their hands of responsibility like this.

Hotpinkangel19 · 27/12/2023 19:31

Parking... Scan date 29/10. Had a letter and a text up to now.

danni0509 · 27/12/2023 19:43

Thank you @KeepGoingThomas

I asked camhs for a supporting letter just before Xmas and his consultant wrote that he supports us requesting a motability vehicle as ds is a high risk to other people.

I do have a bit of evidence, just not loads like when he was younger, ds doesn’t see many people now he’s older, i have about 20 printed emails from his school documenting some really severe behaviour, always violent episodes where his friends / teachers are injured. I also asked school for a supporting letter they just haven’t got back to me yet (no surprise!)

I then have his ehcp,

I have a letter from last taxi driver documenting ds needs,

also I got an email from council transport manager stating ds had challenging behaviours and no one wants to work with him, said about his need for crelling harness restraint and him having no road awareness, no general danger awareness. That he likes to run off and taxi staff find him exhausting etc. and that it’s safest option for parents to take him.

May just go for it, I’ll be fuming if they downgrade him though (that’s my worry) he’s always been on HRC / LRM.

He still has night care needs and I do have it documented he still has sleep issues but he takes 2 sleep meds so don’t want them to try it on. Honestly I hate dla and how much stress they cause parents 🤣

Still waiting on MR - 5 weeks tomorrow was told 3 weeks but still heard nothing I may call tomorrow for an update

JMommy2023 · 28/12/2023 08:08

My scan date is 2 days after you and I’ve had no texts but received 3 letters. 1 was asking for my identification documents to proof my own identity not my son. Does this mean it’s with a DM??

Lulakate84 · 27/12/2023 18:54

Parking myself here scan date 19/09 two letters no texts

I find this so strange how we are all so different. My scan date is 25/09 and I've had 2 letters and one text.

Linacre96 · 28/12/2023 08:33

Good luck to anyone ringing today

Kirsty111 · 28/12/2023 08:50

Morning all has anyone heard anything with a Scan date around the 24/8

2010crazyboymum · 28/12/2023 09:12

Let's see what today brings...

Calypsomum · 28/12/2023 09:18

Just called and spoke to them.
Still saying mines in a holding queue and not even gone to a CM yet. He said another 3 weeks at least. I told him I was told 2 weeks ago that it was going to a CM in the next day or two but he said Christmas has meant we have to wait longer. Gets a bit frustrating being told different info every time doesn't it.

Scan date 18/8

I forgot to ask him if the CMs are working this week. If anyone calls today, would they mind asking?

Thank you x

Still waiting on mine 18/8. Called today and not with a cm yet 🙄

Gemma111 · 28/12/2023 09:28

Same scan date as me. Fingers crossed we hear soon.

Gemma111 · 28/12/2023 09:39

24/8 scan date
2 texts nothing since.

NoWittyNamesAvailable · 28/12/2023 09:47

Does anyone know how long MRs are taking currently? I was told 4 weeks, we're at 6. I've asked them to look at my son's award again because they gave him MRC on renewal and i feel he satisfies the criteria for HRC and they've completely missed looking at all the evidence i sent in.

Livjacmase · 28/12/2023 10:01

Hi all,

I’ve been watching these posts for a while. Scan date 18/08.
I called last week before Xmas to be told that it hadn’t got to a decision maker yet so I actually raised a complaint as I was originally told 15 weeks. Obviously understand the back log etc however I’ve had to give up my job & uni for now to look after my son he’s three, been diagnosed with global developmental delay & now referred for asd assessments, on the long waiting list for speech and language. He’s had a lot of problems since he was born and feel like everywhere we turn for help there’s another hoop to jump through 🙄.
Currently on hold for hopefully an update. Has anyone that has had to give up their jobs etc been constantly hounded by UC to look for work despite telling them you’re unable to?

KeepGoingThomas · 28/12/2023 10:02

@danni0509 I think you have or could get evidence to meet each point. Do you have copies of risk assessments, positive handling/restraint plan (or whatever DS’s school calls it) &/or incident reports? It is unlikely given what you have posted, but if the award was reduced you should appeal.

You might as well get the ball rolling because COC are taking a long time. I submitted one for DS2 3.5 months ago and expect to be waiting a while yet.

@NoWittyNamesAvailable out of the ones I have supported people with recently they have been anywhere between 4-8 weeks, occasionally quicker or longer.

Linacre96 · 28/12/2023 10:08

Seen someone on Facebook scan date of 9th September been awarded like last week

2010crazyboymum · 28/12/2023 10:35

@Livjacmase i work weekends. Uc was telling me I needed to earn more etc. But they could not answer me when I asked them what they expected me to do when my son is at home sick 90% of the Time needed help with walking and meds etc etc..
On my notes they put "unique childcare situation" I managed to change most appts to phone appts and they knew the situation didn't change. Became such a pointless box ticking exercise!

RaychieBee · 28/12/2023 10:36

I've rung 5 times this morning and each time been hung up on within 5mins so I've given up today 🙃

Linacre96 · 28/12/2023 10:44

@RaychieBee i rang at 10:10 I’m still on hold, I only want to know if they got the evidence I sent

Livjacmase · 28/12/2023 10:52

Think they need some educating in Sen parent circumstances tbh. I did say the last time I had spoke to them that in an ideal world I wouldn’t have to give up a career and my little boy would be living a ‘normal’ life but it doesnt work like that. Our children didn’t ask to be born with additional needs & it really bothers me that we all have to fight so hard for bare minimum

Ilovemychildren123 · 28/12/2023 11:18

@NoWittyNamesAvailable i called this morning we are 5 weeks I was told today they are taking 4-6 weeks to get to DM and then longer for decision

funinthesun19 · 28/12/2023 11:37

Are the DMs working today, does anyone know?

LOUPLUS282 · 28/12/2023 11:42

Called this morning on hold for 1 hour 45 mins ..

Awarded on friday 22nd MRC and LRM which I was I was hoping for and feel is right for my daughters current needs. ( scan 18/8) Lovely lady who said it could go in the bank tomorrow or it could go in next week by Weds.

I was so overwhelmed I forgot to ask all my other questions like has it been back paid? and long has it been awarded for ?but I'm happy to find all that out on the letter whenever it arrives! I also forgot to ask when they are working this week sorry @Calypsomum I did intend to ask for you. Hope everyone gets texts over the next couple of days.
