Me 🤣 I had a text a few minutes ago and thought it might be it. Turns out it was just a text from Busy Bins 🤦🏼‍♀️.

Hello. Does anyone know roughly how long it takes to recieve the decision letter. My app was with a CM at the beginning of Nov, but they needed a birth cert. I'm going to assume as I have not heared anything my claim was rejected, however I was I was wondering how long the letter will take so I can prepare for MR. I haven't been able to call since due to work but will be calling tomorrow.

Kezzia87 · 27/12/2023 12:15

Just putting myself here to get notifications, scan date 11/08 but my sons is a clerical claim, hoping to hear soon! Someone is supposed to be ringing me on Tuesday

Kezzia87 · 27/12/2023 12:16

Also that Facebook group is closed for Xmas, could be why it’s not coming up when you search for it, I can’t remember when they said it’s opening again but my news feed is empty so I assume not yet lol

Ellmay1820 · 27/12/2023 12:21

Has anyone received any text so far today? 17.08. I sent tons of evidence and supporting evidence from loads off professionals. Wondering if they are having the full day with back logs and text will start from tomorrow again? And then closed for new years day? Xx

Anyone got any advice please? Ds on hrc lrm has been for years, his award is until 2026, haven’t renewed for 5 years now. He got quite a lengthy award last time.

He has autism, adhd, anxiety, takes quite a bit of medication, special school, etc etc.

Anyway, he’s 10, he was banned from local authority transport 2 months ago for dangerous and challenging behaviour, and I now have to drive him 1300 miles a month back and forth from his specialist school. (I claim mileage from council) we had 2 and a half years of shit with the transport, always some kind of incident and they’ve gone and banned him anyway. No other way for him to get to school…

Last week I rang dla and asked for change of circumstance forms as I said to dh I’m applying for hrm for him, I don’t have the choice but to take him to special school as they literally won’t allow him on transport due to attacking 1-1 passenger assistant / damage to car. He can’t go to a school closer as they can’t meet his needs, the mileage doesn’t cut the costs we pay for car / fuel / extra insurance / wear and tear etc. I went through SMI criteria and he does meet criteria mostly, but I’m going to have difficulties proving that I think, he doesn’t have a severe learning disability, only a moderate one. I do have lots of proof of his needs but I’ve now decided I can’t honestly be arsed with the agg of doing a full change in circumstances when he’s got 2 years of his award left. On the forms in the back it says something like what happens next? If we don’t receive your forms back we won’t take any further action.

If I don’t send forms back will current award just continue until 2026.?

danni0509 · 27/12/2023 12:29

AP1921 · 27/12/2023 13:53

Oh and to add to this I got a text on the 18th saying they are still looking at our claim.

SENASD · 27/12/2023 15:36

I'm stressing more and more hoping to get a text any day as was told on 18/12 that it was with a cm and to expect a text any time now but I've had nothing. I'm being patient and trying to not ring until the new year but it's getting harder to hold of!

Scan date 18/08

@danni0509 if you don't return the form, you may get a phonecall asking why you didn't return it, but generally, it will all just continue.

The decision maker should consider all evidence to decide on severe mental impairment. Things like whether the child is verbal, whether they can read or write, self-care skills, etc., a contribute to the assessment.

Sharniexxx7 · 27/12/2023 17:12

Hi my daughter is similar to your son symptoms wise, she turned 2 in september my scan date is 27/9 iv had 1 letter 1 text and another letter requesting her birth certificate which they returned quite quickly back to me but nothing else since. Please can i ask how you managed to get a diagnosis for your son so quickly all the professionals who meet her have clearly said yes highly autistic but its a long process to get her diagnosed, im really stressing over her claim as i only had a supporting statement provided by her health visitor as evidence. The rest of her evidence was me just explaining in detail all the extra care needs she requires 24/7. I think a diagnosis would help and also with other help and support she needs. Any advice much appreciated x

KeepGoingThomas · 27/12/2023 17:12

@danni0509 firstly, the award won’t be stopped if you don’t return the form. As Lougle posted they may contact you.

Secondly, in order to be awarded HRM DC has to meet all of the points on the flow chart for either SMI or VUW. You can meet the criteria and not have a severe learning disability. You can see the flow charts in this document. This contact sheet is helpful when aiming for HRM for a DC with ASD/LD.

Thirdly, despite what many LA policies state, the LA cannot simply wash their hands of DS transport wise and tell you it is your responsibility. It isn’t lawful. I would contact SENTAS about this.

@Sarahdestiny sorry i forgot to quote you i was replying to your message x

Sarahdestiny · 27/12/2023 17:43

@Sharniexxx7 hiya my son still has a health adviser because she had reasons to belive he's autistic and pushed for it and he was referred and diagnosed in 3 months I don't really no how they managed it if it wasnt for her it wouldnt of happened so fast as my other son has been on waiting list for years and he's 10 nearly now x

funinthesun19 · 27/12/2023 18:05

Anyone had any news today?

Lulakate84 · 27/12/2023 18:54

Parking myself here scan date 19/09 two letters no texts

danni0509 · 27/12/2023 19:13

Thanks lougle he’s very verbal, his understanding is less than his verbal skills though, self care is non existent, can’t wash or dress himself or clean his teeth, he’s no longer in nappies but still needs taking to the toilet regularly etc, I have to dress him and school have to dress him, he can’t put his own coat or shoes on.

He can read and write a bit, he’s 10 yr old and in year 5 but not on key stages, think he’s reception level, yr1 / yr2 with his reading. Socially and emotionally he’s like a toddler, has terrible tantrums, can’t share, can’t wait turns etc, he’s described in his ehcp as not understanding the world around him and it’s reflected within his behaviour.

Hes in a class of 5 with 4 staff ratio.

He has to have full time supervision at home and school, it’s written in his ehcp, he’s in SS and still needs constant supervision, can’t be left for a sec, he hits a lot at school and does really ridiculous things like pulls toilet pipes off the wall or cuts his peers hair or jumpers, he’s banned from using scissors and cutlery as they are used as weapons, I’ve got some corking emails I printed off about full class evacuations bcos ds has put his class at risk. Or he’s needed 3 members of staff for him or he’s gone on a rampage smashing all the class windows etc,

He meets the criteria with severe behaviour, also the asd diagnosis / social functioning, but the severe intelligence I have a feeling that’s where they’ll try have our trousers down, useful intelligence no chance, he can read and write a bit etc but no road sense whatsoever (fully documented) hard bloody work and honestly don’t have the energy for it all. Thanks for your reply.

danni0509 · 27/12/2023 19:20

@KeepGoingThomas it was 2.5 years of transport issues, he’d been given plenty of warnings over the time, he’d had 21 PA’s and 4 drivers in total, they all kept leaving due to his behaviour, he had tried all different types of transport, taxis, mini buses, always on his own, no other kids, just his PA, they got a specialist pa in she left after 3 days!

He caused a lot of damage in the taxi in September (hundreds of pounds) they then had me being PA free of charge which I couldn’t commit too, not even if they paid me tbh, then it was any time he kicks off taxi instructed to stop turn around bring him straight back home, he was barely getting to school then after last incident they basically said he can’t have transport anymore.

I don’t actually know what else they could have done as they’d tried all sorts.
