Yeah do what you feel is right for you :) congrats on your award, it makes such a massive difference having that weight lifted either way,and 🤞🏻 for your mobility side of things too! X

Hi all, long time lurker here. About to hit 18wks on Wednesday, scan date 6/9
Been fine up until now but now the worry/panic has set in. Tried phoning for an update this morning as I sent additional information in before Christmas and would like to know if it was received (copy of blue badge and disabled bus pass) but got cut off no less then 7 times! And when I was finally put on hold I was there for 1hr 20mins before I had to hang up and go on the school run! Not only are the decision making wait times a joke but also the phonecall waiting times, it's ridiculous. Having read a fair few comments though I think mine might be a decline as haven't really sent a lot of evidence and I was hopeless with filling out the forms. ASD assessment and diagnosis, Hypermobility assessment and diagnosis, physio and paediatrician letters, Asthma diagnosis, proof of daily medication, blue badge and bus pass. So far have received 2 letters and 3 texts last one being 18th December. Sorry for the rant x

You've sent in more than enough evidence I've sent in far less because I have far less, and ive seen others send in far less and get it. We are still waiting on the end of the road for the asd and adhd assessment sadly, but we are nearly there now. I decided not to wait to claim because his needs are just so high. Can I just ask how you managed to get the blue badge without DLA? I only ask because I could do with it even if he's declined for this. Even getting across a carpark is a minefield for us. If you do get through let us know how you get on, I've heard if you call at 9 you get straight through which makes sense as most parents are on the school run. I can't call then sadly as I'm in work

Pennyannabel8 · 08/01/2024 20:36

Thankyou for replying, sometimes I feel so alone even though I know I'm not the only one going through this.

Thank you. I’m over the moon about her care award. Just disappointed that I now have a further battle now. She needs the mobility side so much because just as an example I had to carry her all the way to school this morning or we never would have made it there. 🙁 Getting out and about is always such a struggle.

Mum2onebeauifulgirl · 08/01/2024 20:48

@Kirst31 Hi how long was the wait for careers allowance I did it online on 5 December and haven't heard anything back yet

Kirst31 · 08/01/2024 20:53

My daughter’s the exact same, drops to the floor, refuses to walk. Or will try go her own way then if you stop her thats it then meltdown and will refuse everything and needs to be carried. She still needs pushchair for most trips as she hates it all :( have to reins her in the car to strap her in as she try’s to escape. It’s so so hard trying to keep her safe. She has 0 awareness at all! X

Kirst31 · 08/01/2024 20:55

@Mum2onebeauifulgirl im not sure atm hun as i got mine back last year when i claimed for my daughters dla care and that only took a few weeks, could always call and ask for there current turn around times if your worried x

Everything you have described about your daughter is exactly the same for my daughter. I don’t have a pushchair for her though, and it’s been something I have been thinking about to make journeys easier and safer. She has meltdowns too and also has zero awareness.
We were having a little trip out to the park on Saturday me, DD and two of her older brothers, and she managed to walk two streets and I thought hey this is going well 🤞🏻. But then out of nowhere she threw herself to the pavement and had a huge meltdown. She couldn’t communicate to me why she was so upset. When she is in that zone she can’t tell me. All I can do is try to console her and calm her wherever we happen to be at the time and keep her safe so she doesn’t act on impulse. She’d easily have run in to the road.

Loumumoftwo · 08/01/2024 22:08

@logangracie93 sorry for the late response, not sure if someone else has already responded to you but basically they just need to verify what you’re telling them with DLA, nothing bad at all, once they have verified the details (rate of care and dates etc) they will send it to a decision maker to backdate the amounts…all in all it took 8 days for me to receive the letter to say they will backdate it. Hopefully not too much longer for you xx

Willowblake · 08/01/2024 22:10

Hi all, scan date 1/8, 23 weeks tomorrow! Anyone else still waiting with early August dates? Feel like I've been completely forgotten about 😅

Linacre96 · 08/01/2024 22:56

Has anyone been awarded for a 2 year old
referred to speech therapy , physiotherapist, community paediatrics
he’s under dietitian, hospital paediatric so far got a development for a 1 year old
dunno if it would matter for them to know he was premature

Oh my god that’s awful!! That’s the longest I’ve seen anyone wait. Absolutely ridiculous. Have they said why they’re taking so long??

Mum2onebeauifulgirl · 09/01/2024 00:01

@Kirst31 OK thank you I will give careers allowance a call when got time as got got home for the next week been back one day and been kick out for aweek already

Luevzamum · 09/01/2024 00:58

@Jneill2021 hi, any news for you yet hun x

Puggie · 09/01/2024 01:04

Money has hit the bank for scan date 25/08 amount is 1,943.25 I don't suppose anyone is able to work out rate? I have a feeling they may not have backdated it from the date of telephone call as I sent a week late.

1943.25 minus the £10 Christmas bonus is £1933.25.

If you divide that by 19 weeks it's 101.75 per week which is the amount for high rate care.

So it looks like high rate care no mobility to me.

I thought it was really strange you know because when I first applied I asked them would it be awarded from when she turns 5 and they said yes. And now with you saying that to me about your DD’s award I am starting to wonder whether the DM has done it properly.
I am going to ring them again tomorrow and get them to have a look at it. Would it be a case of sending it for a mandatory reconsideration for the mobility side?

I would just ask them to have a look at it and tell them what you was told and see what they say. I can’t see it being a MR as you’ve provided the information already and it just seems they’ve rushed through it without taking into consideration that your daughter is 5 now

Jneill2021 · 09/01/2024 06:44

@Luevzamum no unfortunately I called yesterday as I recieved a letter saying they recieved my stuff on 22nd Dec but ino that was wrong as I rang a few days after sending it, they confirmed recieved the 7th but have said 7/8 weeks before even goes to decision maker, honesty I think the wait times just get longer and longer lol xx

I agree it does seem that way and it was rushed! What if the person on the phone today tells me everything is correct though? Is there someone higher I can escalate it to?
If I hadn’t have spoken to you guys I wouldn’t have known any different and I feel like my DD is potentially getting short changed because of a string of mistakes.

If it was that she has simply been declined the mobility then as much as I would be disappointed and would definitely get a MR, at least I would know it’s been done properly if you get that I mean. But this is different it just feels like a she hasn’t been considered altogether.

I’ll be ringing them at 9am on the dot today. I’ll let you know what they say.

Just another question too. How long does it take for backpay to reach people?

Puggie · 09/01/2024 06:58

@EarlofShrewsbury

Thank you!

Does anyone know if I can appeal the fact they haven't paid from the date we call (I sent the forms a little late but have a genuine reason and listed it on the form)

If they say it’s all correct then say you want an MR regarding mobility. You shouldn’t have to apply again and would be quicker doing an MR than reapplying for mobility. I was awarded 29/12 and received back pay 5/01. They say 3-5 working days to receive

Kezzia87 · 09/01/2024 07:14

@Willowblake wow! That’s crazy! My scan date is 11/08 for a new claim.. I thought I’d had a long wait! Have you phoned them recently? It seems like a really long wait…

HalleLouja · 09/01/2024 07:23

I am new to this waiting malarkey (form sent at end of November).

I do have a question- how long after sending in the form are people hearing it’s received? It does say you should hear within 2 weeks but I haven’t heard and was wondering if its worth chasing or just a waiting game?

Loup19863 · 09/01/2024 07:28

@HalleLouja I did a claim earlier this year and had a letter to say they received it 3 wks after sending it. I’ve done another claim sent at the end of august and it took about 6 wks for them to send me a letter to say it was received, I knew they’d received it though as I send it special delivery. I think with it being Xmas and new year give it another couple of weeks and then call to check they have it x

Loup19863 · 09/01/2024 07:29

That should say I sent it special delivery x
