Hi all, just jumping in as this whole process has been crazy for me as I already suffer from ADHD/GAD so I'm a little overwhelmed by all this. Scan date was 28/09 for our 3yo who was diagnosed with Autism/GDD last April. I have received 1 letter and 2 texts saying they're still looking at the claim. Has anyone else got a similar scan date? If so what have your experiences been? 😁

EEFO1234 · 08/01/2024 16:24

@AAshh1998 hi I'm the same scan date and had 1 letter and 2 texts too nothing other than that going to ring Thursday to chase it up

Sunshinesun · 08/01/2024 16:27

@Ashh1998 I'm 14/09 and still waiting x

Ashh1998 · 08/01/2024 16:29

Hello! Thanks for the reply 😀 Yeah that's probably what I'll do as our letter stated 15 weeks not 20 which seems to be the average wait time currently. I'm off work due to the stress/probably going to have to take up full time care. Can't cope much longer! 😆

Ashh1998 · 08/01/2024 16:31

@Sunshinesun @EEFO1234 thanks for the help both, best of luck with your claims! If we get any news I'll pop it on here 😀

EEFO1234 · 08/01/2024 16:35

@AAshh1998 I'll update on here if get anymore news, yeah 15 weeks on Thursday so will try chase it up

Tmpoftwo · 08/01/2024 17:16

@Babzie if I remember right they work it on 3 weeks behind then 1 week advanced to make the 4 weekly.

zoedavis123 · 08/01/2024 17:32

Sharniexxx7 · 08/01/2024 17:35

Hi i know im going to sound really stupid but how on earth do we send it recorded or tracked delivery, i sent off additional evidence at the Post office and asked for it tracked she said there is no postcode for the address so i cant, i told her that I'm sure there is a way to do it bcus iv heard other people say they are able to see when there post has been received and the Post Office lady said no not without a postcode so can anyone tell me what address to send future evidence too please. I have even googled DLA address and still cannot find anything xx

Ash894 · 08/01/2024 17:36

@zoedavis123 that's brilliant congrats. I'm not sure what to do with universal credit either. Or the carers element does anyone know if carers is on top of universal credit or do they take anything off? X

Daniellemcm · 08/01/2024 17:50

@Sharniexxx7 use this address to send recorded xx

Kirst31 · 08/01/2024 17:59

You'll get a careers element added on top of your claim.
If you get careers allowance they take it off you on UC as they class it as a income based related benefit (only the careers allowance) i do this as prefer to have the payment separate to keep me going through the month then one chunk all at once but if you only have the careers element you wont have anything took of you, you'll get more a month depending what rate of dla you child receives x

My scan date is 25/09! I've had two letters, two texts.

Mummy2024 · 08/01/2024 18:31

I'm the same as you 18 weeks Friday scan date 8th of September 2 letters and 3 txt messages. I'm expecting a decline tbh because he is currently undiagnosed and only has an iep not ehcp however this will be extremely unfair, but just want an answer eitherway. We're expecting a diagnoses in the next few months after a year and 4 month wait so that will help with a MR consideration if required. I want this help to get him private 1 to 1 tutoring and some sort of family counciling support to help with his behaviour. We're on the list for a parenting course but not even heard from them yet.

Hi all, long time lurker here. About to hit 18wks on Wednesday, scan date 6/9
Been fine up until now but now the worry/panic has set in. Tried phoning for an update this morning as I sent additional information in before Christmas and would like to know if it was received (copy of blue badge and disabled bus pass) but got cut off no less then 7 times! And when I was finally put on hold I was there for 1hr 20mins before I had to hang up and go on the school run! Not only are the decision making wait times a joke but also the phonecall waiting times, it's ridiculous. Having read a fair few comments though I think mine might be a decline as haven't really sent a lot of evidence and I was hopeless with filling out the forms. ASD assessment and diagnosis, Hypermobility assessment and diagnosis, physio and paediatrician letters, Asthma diagnosis, proof of daily medication, blue badge and bus pass. So far have received 2 letters and 3 texts last one being 18th December. Sorry for the rant x

Ash894 · 08/01/2024 19:03

@Kirst31 thank you that makes perfect sense I was unsure as Google made it very complicated haha. I'm son will be getting HRC. Is carers allowance paid weekly then? X

Tashanddaryn · 08/01/2024 19:10

Hi scan date 6th sep anyone else w8th this scan date and had a answer please ?

Kirst31 · 08/01/2024 19:12

No hun still monthly but where it lands on my pay month (4weekly) it always falls on the week i don’t get any from UC or dla etc iv never thought to ask about it being paid weekly/fortnightly x

Aww hun try not to worry, dla is not diagnosis dependent. As long as you can show evidence of support you need then all should be fine. My ds doesn't have an autism diagnosis yet, he's still waiting for his assessment. He is none verbal, GDD diagnosis, mobility, sensory, socail communication delay etc but I've sent in loads of evidence of support needed plus letters from portage, salt, physio and his consultant who told me his social communication delay is on the severe end. It sounds as though you have loads of evidence to back up your claim x

Finally got through to them. My DD has been awarded Middle Rate Care! 🥹 So happy!

I did apply for Mobility, but because she was 4 when I applied they couldn’t award it her even though she turned 5 a month after they received the form and even though they have just sorted her claim out now and she’s been 5 for four months now. So I have been sent a form to reapply for mobility.
I guess I will be back here soon. 🥴

Scan date 23/08. It’s been a long wait!

Definitely question the mobility side. I applied a month before my daughters 5th birthday and they awarded HRC for the month she was 4 and HRC and LRM from her birthday to my renewal date!

Kirst31 · 08/01/2024 19:37

I also applied on the 10th aug and my daughter didn’t turn 5 till the 23rd and they have awarded the LRM from the day of her birthday rather than the stamp date x

I thought it was really strange you know because when I first applied I asked them would it be awarded from when she turns 5 and they said yes. And now with you saying that to me about your DD’s award I am starting to wonder whether the DM has done it properly.
I am going to ring them again tomorrow and get them to have a look at it. Would it be a case of sending it for a mandatory reconsideration for the mobility side?

Hmm after your post too it does seem like something isn’t right. It might be just that she’s not been awarded mobility anyway because the DM thinks she doesn’t qualify anyway. But the lady on the phone in the call centre was certain it wasn’t awarded because my DD was 4 when I applied.

I need to get it all clarified tomorrow. Thankfully she’s been awarded MRC which I’m really happy about.
