Hey! I called this morning, she said my claim is with a case a manager? Is this the same as decision maker? She said I’ll have a decision within a week. Currently on week 19. I have an awful feeling it’s going to be a decline!

Momof2soonmomto3 · 05/01/2024 10:58

Hi ladies i made the change on my UC from middle rate to high rate care on the 11th december finally had the letter yesterday saying back pay has been granted under "special circumstances" how long does it usually take after to get the back pay? Does anyone know x

cocoapple · 05/01/2024 11:48

I had my back pay 8 days after that letter but I received the letter on the 28th of December so maybe I’d have gotten it a bit sooner as there was New Year’s Day

MummytoJacob14 · 05/01/2024 13:25

I had a message on my UC journal to say that they accepted my reasons for delay in letting them know so they would back date it. That was on the 23rd December. I have not received any payment from them as of yet.

Momof2soonmomto3 · 05/01/2024 16:28

Id chase that hun iv rang them and they said looking at the end of next week x

Danwal · 06/01/2024 18:08

Seeing if anyone can help! I'm waiting on dla decision I am currently on UC, do I need to apply for carers element and disabled child element or just carers, if both how do I apply for disabled child element?! I'm so confused, thanks

Daniellemcm · 06/01/2024 19:59

@Danwal just going by what I’ve seen others post I don’t get UC myself but I believe you do by reporting change of circumstances and update your child’s details with what they have been awarded. You then add a note in your journal requesting this to be back paid to date of DLA award obviously you couldn’t report prior to receiving the award which is why you haven’t reported previously.
From what I have seen carers allowance and carers element are essentially the same thing you can only claim one or the other but if you are working and earn above certain amount you can only apply through UC (carers element) assuming you provide 35hrs a week care. If you apply for Carer allowance I have seen UC will deduct from your entitlement £ 4 £ so you may end up owing UC money if your CA is back dated. It’s down to preference really which to apply for I seen people say Carers Allowance is the better option in regards to counting towards your national state pension contributions but money wise I don’t think there’s any difference.

Hope that made sense xx

Momof2soonmomto3 · 06/01/2024 22:02

@Danwal exactly that of the above post 😆

Alex900 · 06/01/2024 22:47

Danwal · 07/01/2024 09:41

Ah thank you for your help, I will look in to how to change child's details when the decision comes through then, my scan date is 13th sept so not sure how much longer I have to wait!!

Mummyto3boys23 · 08/01/2024 21:55

Hi all not sure if anyone can help. My son was awarded middle rate care about 5 months ago. As he was under 5 we couldn't get the mobility side so forms were sent out in Oct and sent back in October but I have not heard anything to say they have even received the forms.
Can anyone help please. My son is 5 now. Thanks lizzie

MangoPepsiLover · 09/01/2024 10:36

Just had my UC back pay for the disabled child element, didn't have a letter or anything for it, but theres a note on my journal telling me what it is.

As I'm not entitled to Carers Allowance I'm also not eligble for Carers Element apparently, I am fighting it.

Danwal · 09/01/2024 12:21

Hey, how do you add disabled child element on UC? What part of report a change do you go on? Like who lives with me etc, and also did you have to ask them to back date it. Thanks

MangoPepsiLover · 09/01/2024 12:30

@Danwal Log in to UC, click home, report a change of circumstances. Then it'll be somewhere under the childs name you click Disability Living Allowance and it'll ask you what rate of care and then if they get the mobility component.

You can also add the carers under your own name, in the questions it'll ask if you claim Carers Allowance for them if you do/have applied then select yes and it won't add the carers element.

TulipsfromAmsterdam · 19/01/2024 14:49

Is this thread for renewals also? My sons DLA was due for renewal in December. I sent forms end of November and haven't received any letters or details. 2 weeks ago I got a text to say my child qualified and would receive letter within 2 weeks. As I hadn't i rang to be told it was received mid December and would be mid March before it is dealt with. Has anyone else been in this position when renewing please?

Jasminedev1 · 22/01/2024 19:40

MissHavershamReturns · 22/01/2024 20:31

DLA Wait Times - Part 27 this is the new thread xx

Geegee1506 · 29/01/2024 22:16

Anyone on here know how long the back pay for disability and carers element from UC takes?
I've had a letter on my journal from DM.. doesn't give any info about the back pay? Hard work trying to get in touch with anyone through your journal...

Mummyto2beautifulangeltwins · 30/01/2024 06:31

Give uc a ring their will escalate it to a care manager for an update .

9babiesmummynutjob · 30/01/2024 09:30

Hi, I’m new posting.
Im not new to DLA claiming but it’s been a good few years since I last applied. I applied for my 14yr, scan date was 28/9. I rang yesterday as it’s been nearly 20wks. After over an hour wait I got through to a very unhelpful lady who told me my daughters claim wasn’t even with a decision maker! I asked for a time scale to which she replied “I’d be guessing “😡 so then I asked how long I should wait until I call again, she said “I wouldn’t bother, just wait for a text”🤦‍♀️😡
Is anyone else waiting past the 20 week deadline??? I just can’t believe how long this is taking!!

Siobhangrace · 30/01/2024 09:37

@9babiesmummynutjob im still waiting for 27th September

Laurahansom28 · 30/01/2024 09:41

I'm also waiting for my back pay. Been waiting 8 days now. I've had the letter stating they will backdate but nothing else as of yet.

9babiesmummynutjob · 30/01/2024 09:44

It’s driving me insane!!🤪 have you contacted them at all??
