Information for anyone with regards to updating UC
I notified them today (change of circumstances) that my son had been awarded HRC asked for back dated payment. Just received a letter in my journal saying that the DM has accepted my reasons for it being outside period due to special circumstances.

xxx

Hi hun please can I pick ur brain on this I have just updated my uc caring for someone and he get hrc do u know how long this takes for payment and would they back date to award date 26 July xx

Mammalee5 · 13/12/2023 12:39

@Jaffacakesrlife that's what i did this morning and just got a response

Anne92 · 13/12/2023 12:50

Sent off 24th Aug, was a day late but I phoned before and they accepted the reasons why. Had a text in Oct and Nov saying their still looking at it. I can't get though on phone to ask scan dates! Is there any other way to check?

Jaffacakesrlife · 13/12/2023 14:19

@Mammalee5 yay excellent. news xx

Jaffacakesrlife · 13/12/2023 14:21

@Purple69 Hi its down to a DM if they backdate (they always do as you was waiting on DLA to make a decision) I dont know when you get the payment maybe on your next payment cycle (if you get universal credits) sorry couldn't be much help xx

Mammalee5 · 13/12/2023 14:25

@Purple69 yes they'll backdate to the award date. Backpay is paid 3-5 days after they've accepted it and worked it out. Then usual payments are added to your award date

Scan date 10/08 Received a call to check address as recently moved. They said I'd receive a decision by Friday. 20 minutes later I received a text to say my son has qualified. I'm over the moon for him... diagnosed with ADHD and ODD.

Kelseeyx · 13/12/2023 17:23

@Mammalee5 uc haven't even acknowledged my message yet 🙃 xx

Mammalee5 · 13/12/2023 17:26

@Kelseeyx add a note saying same stuff under payments. I got a response within an hour. Then a letter and hour after that saying special circumstances apply so can be backdated. Then 3pm i missed a call from them, left a note saying they owe backpay but can't issue it until they've spoken to us. I replied they can call back whenever basically and just waiting for that call. Not sure if it's just ti confirm bank details or what

Kelseeyx · 13/12/2023 18:00

I done that the same day I got awarded and still nothing @Mammalee5 thank you though lovely! Will chase it up tomorrow, glad it's all sorted for you! xx

doingmybest23 · 13/12/2023 18:00

Scan date 15/8 I rang up today they said another 3 weeks

Loumumoftwo · 13/12/2023 19:44

@Kelseeyx same here, I updated them on the day I was awarded (6/12) they replied to say it needed to be verified and then sent to a decision maker, I then asked how long this would take and they said there’s no timescale on this, heard nothing since 🙄 xx

Kelseeyx · 13/12/2023 19:55

@Loumumoftwo I haven't even had that, literally nothing from them at all! Hopefully we'll hear something soon! 🤞🏻 Xx

Loumumoftwo · 14/12/2023 09:45

@Kelseeyx just to let you know I have had a message from the decision maker on UC this morning to say disabled child and carers element has been awarded and they will calculate how much in due course x

Mum23xxx · 14/12/2023 10:19
