sabz300 · 28/11/2023 13:18

@MangoPepsiLover did you manage to get through?

@sabz300 No I gave up after nearly 2 hours waiting

sabz300 · 28/11/2023 13:57

@MangoPepsiLover I've just got through after 1hr 10min wait to be told the same thing that it's still with a DM and no decision has been made. I don't get why it is taking so long!

Loumumoftwo · 28/11/2023 14:16

@Lightsoutallout i’m also in Northumberland. Scan date 02/08

@sabz300 Arhh why do we not know?? It's not fair people after us know

Mummynic725 · 28/11/2023 14:20

Just had my letter with the reasons they declined my daughter I cannot believe the CM didn’t even read my claim all they have said is her age with her being 2 that she would need the same level of care as another 2 year old the amount of stuff I explained they didn’t even glance at I’m fuming!!!!! Currently gathering more evidence for my MR

cocoapple · 28/11/2023 14:23

@Mummynic725 Oh no, my DS is also 2 I’m worried they’ll say the same😔 angry for you!

sabz300 · 28/11/2023 14:31

@cocoapple @Mummynic725 I've applied for my 2 year old as well. He's non verbal, has no understanding at all and has major sleep and eating issues. I hope they don't turn around and say that it's normal for a 2 year old not to say a single word or understand anything at all, stay awake for hours on end etc

cocoapple · 28/11/2023 14:34

@sabz300 DS is the exact same. I really hope not as that’s just not the case at all. I have a 7 year old and he was nothing like DS at 2. A few of my friends children who are a similar age are nothing like him either. It’s so obvious that he’s not a typical 2 year old😔

MilaMom · 28/11/2023 14:38

I did see a few cases that where declined due to age...
It is very disappointing, hope you guys get or have it reviewed.

sabz300 · 28/11/2023 14:39

@cocoapple I really do hope they read the claim properly and just look at the age. When is your scan date?

cocoapple · 28/11/2023 14:40

14/8 so a little bit longer to go yet I presume😩 the waiting is horrible especially when you don’t feel very confident. What’s yours?

Mummyrach13 · 28/11/2023 14:43

@Shilli84 they will backdate carers to the date awarded if you apply within 28 days of being awarded. I applied for carers allowance 2 weeks ago and not heard anything yet x

19/06 been with the DM since last Monday, from what I can gather they don't need to contact any third parties because I've sent them all reports from all relevant agencies such as SALT, early help assessment which both state he's been referred everywhere else x

cocoapple · 28/11/2023 14:47

@sabz300 Hopefully you won’t have to wait much longer then! Good luck x

I don’t feel confident either because they might just say it’s her age and they’re “still learning”😞. My DD is 5 so a little bit older, but they might argue that she will “grow out of” her behaviours soon.

cocoapple · 28/11/2023 15:00

@funinthesun19 Yeah that thought crossed my mind too with DS. Although if it is autism (which is what I’ve been told is highly likely) it’s not something he’ll grow out of😔 Just want to know now either way. When was your scan date? Sorry if you’ve already said I’m rubbish at catching up🤣

@sabz300 19 weeks tomorrow for us (I think you mean 19/07?), I probably won't try to call tomorrow I am losing patience with it and I'm worried I might get a warning off my manager.

When I called last week they said I should hear by 4th December which is Monday so hopefully only a few more days.

sabz300 · 28/11/2023 15:33

@MangoPepsiLover oh yeah it is 19/07. I'm
Going to try calling again on Friday if I don't hear anything x

MummytoJacob14 · 28/11/2023 15:37

If you get awarded DLA how do you go about applying for the carers element on UC please?
Which option on COC?
My scan date is 10/8 and not heard anything yet but was just wondering what next steps would be if we do get awarded DLA for my son.

My DD has suspected autism (keeping my fingers crossed for her diagnosis in the spring of next year.) My scan date was 24/08, so not that long after you.

My DS was awarded DLA when he was 3, so not much older than your DS now (if I read right you said he’s 2?). And I remember thinking they’re not going to award him because they’ll just say he’s an average 3 year old who needs his mum to help him and keep him safe. He was awarded MRC and then when I renewed his claim 5 years later he was awarded the same again but also with LRM too.

NeuroDmummy · 28/11/2023 16:20

Hi scan date 25/07
been lurking a while following everyone’s progress. Thought it time I stopped hiding and say hello. Wait is killing me. I see there is quite a few with same scan date so fingers crossed it’s not too long for us all now x

Let24beabetteryear · 28/11/2023 16:23

Following on... scan date 16/8 15 weeks tomorrow so few weeks left 🤞

crazytimes20 · 28/11/2023 16:27

@NeuroDmummy hi! It's such an awful wait ain't it. Seen so many our date be awarded now..I'm starting to worry quite a bit. Mines with DM. Was hoping for a txt but looking unlikely.
