I was awarded 2 weeks ago now and informed UC straight away of my change in circumstances. They have updated this months payment with child disability element but nothing yet about backdate payment. Does anyone know how long this process takes. I've not even had a letter on my journal to say if they are going to backdate. Any help would be appreciated x

Jude82 · 17/11/2023 21:35

@Mumma3girls the guy on the phone tonight told me the payment is processed on the day of the text and it can take 3-5 days but should be 3 in most cases x

Sskanf · 17/11/2023 21:36

So sorry to hear of the declines, it's so so gutting to go through all the hard work of applying and waiting so long to be declined. Please do fight it whoever been declined don't be disheartened x

@Rebeccanew has a work coach acknowledged your change of circumstances on your journal yet? Also is carers allowance means tested

Vikz37 · 17/11/2023 21:46

Mumma3girls · 17/11/2023 20:59

to those who have had awards- how long did it take for you to get your back payment after receiving the text?
thanks

Got my text Tuesday then got my payment today x

Mmeades · 17/11/2023 21:57

My son was awarded on Thursday just gone. When I spoke to DLA on Friday they said back pay will be in bank Monday or Tuesday, hope this helps

Rebeccanew · 17/11/2023 22:40

@Sskanf nope they not acknowledged it yet 😅😅 another long wait lol….xxxxxxx

could anyone tell me how long the backpay was roughly? Xxxxx

Helentwinsplus1 · 18/11/2023 00:59

Sat up with my son doing physio to try and ease spasms in his legs. This is what's so annoying about the wait. If I knew what was happening I could have paid for a private physio to see him this week as a preventative measure so we didn't end up in this situation. It's really p-ing me off now. Can't believe his claim isn't with a decision maker and yet claims put in a few weeks later have got decisions.

Here endeth my "it's not fair" tantrum moment. I've already had to deal with child 2 having a night terror and sleep walking

Mummyrach13 · 18/11/2023 07:26

@Raych1989 i changed my UC almost 3 weeks ago now and nothing yet no letter to accept backdating, they’ve just said there’s no time scale for it. Seems that it’s pot luck to when they come across yours x

You need to earn less than £139 a week to qualify for carers allowance:)

Sskanf · 18/11/2023 11:50

@PinkMoscatoLover so I'm currently not working as I have a 1 year old and I'm the main carer for my 4 year old who's now in receipt of DLA. I've never been able to leave him with anyone as no one really knows how to manage him his on reduced hours at school also.
However my husband works full-time so will that be taken into consideration?
Thank you for responding to me xx

PinkMoscatoLover · 18/11/2023 11:55

@Sskanf as long as the carer (which is you) earns less than £139 a week then they’ll qualify for carers allowance. Your husband’s wage won’t get taken into consideration as he isn’t the carer of your 4 year old.

As mentioned before, carers allowance gets deducted pound for pound from your UC claim so it isn’t additional money

4girlsnahubby · 18/11/2023 12:10

Has anyone had a yes today?

mumandchefandallsorts · 18/11/2023 12:17

Hi, does anybody know if they can award on the weekend?

Mummyrach13 · 18/11/2023 13:53

Apparently they are working on weekends @mumandchefandallsorts so people can receive calls and texts from DMs but you can’t call them on a weekend.

@PinkMoscatoLover you seem to have a lot of Knowledge around these things do you know why they ask about husbands wages and NI number etc for carers allowance if it doesn’t go on there wages? X

@Luevzamum i can do another thread this one will stay open until 40 pages x

@Mummyrach13 that’s a great question but I have absolutely no clue why they ask that! My knowledge on the questions asked for carers allowance is somewhat limited😆

It may be that they just want to know your partners details if you’re apart of a couple. You can check the eligibility on the Gov website but to qualify, the carer has to be earning less than £139 a week. So as long as you’re the carer, then you’re all good. Your husband’s income won’t be taken into consideration at all!

I’m sure you also have to declare whether you have any savings (even though that has no impact on whether one can claim carers allowance or not) so maybe they’re just being nosy😂

Mummyrach13 · 18/11/2023 14:29

Thanks lovely @PinkMoscatoLover i thought that same, I’m currently not working as my boy needs me full time but I was confused by that as thought it was only my circumstances that mattered. Thanks for the reply though 😊 x

PinkMoscatoLover · 18/11/2023 14:50

@Mummyrach13 my best guess would be that because you’re apart of a couple, they also want you to declare what the situation is with your partner even though he has nothing to do with the claim. I imagine they ask for the carers details only if they’re a single parent etc.

Any problems with the claim then post it here on the thread but you’ll be absolutely fine with it all! X

Billie1993 · 18/11/2023 15:11

Hello so I had a response back from UC today about the disability element to say she’s been verified, once verified does anyone know what process is next ?
