WhatAreYouWaitingFor · 10/10/2023 11:24

Hello all.

I'm waiting on renewal for my DC. I've had a letter to say they received my form (phew!). But does anyone know if renewals are quicker than initial applicants?

Thank you 🙏

BreakingPointMum · 10/10/2023 11:38

Hey guys, called this morning. After an hour wait was told we're awarded MRC for my 3 year old daughter with Autistim.
Didn't have a whole lot of evidence:

  • Copy of her 2 year review
  • A statement from nursery about her extra needs
  • Care plan from Chatterbugs
  • Referral letter for a pediatrician

Scan date 06/06
Can't believe it, the wait was worth it in the end and such a stress off my shoulders!
Good luck for everyone else waiting now hope you all get some good outcomes x

Hi all, like many I have been keeping an eye for the last few weeks. Today I am 17 weeks with my scan date being 13/6.
I am working today so can’t call, have any with the same/similar scan date had any information whether their claim is with a DM yet?
I am trying to stay positive- like many. My daughter has an ADHD diagnosis and due to her marvellous masking, school are very unhelpful and to the point where they have refused to put a one plan in place- last academic year. She has a new teacher this year and I am waiting for our up and coming parents evening to push for more to be done. Especially as the ‘SATs’ are looming, and I know she will struggle with the overwhelming fear of failure. She is a bright button and because of that I feel she is allowed to slip through the net. But at home she explodes with emotions outbursts and for someone who doesn’t struggle academically her care needs do not correlate to this. She needs help with dressing, undressing, hygiene, no sense of danger or social context. She still wets the bed, and bedtime in itself is a battle as her anxiety and creative imagination prevents her from getting to sleep. She gets angry hits out and damages things. She is a beautiful whirlwind 😂 If anyone has a little
girl who is very much a like, and can share if their daughter has received/ been refused DLA this would be great. If they have contacted the school I can only imagine this won’t be forthcoming for a positive DLA outcome. For the extra information/statement we got her childminder to complete this which outlines and shares similar care needs we face at home. The only evidence we sent was her diagnosis report.
It is so true, the closer you get, more anxiety seeps through. Sending lots of crossed fingers for everyone else in the same boat nervously waiting an outcome.

Omg I literally could have written this about my daughter. She’s nearly 6 and my god out of all my 6 kids, she literally drains the life out of me daily 🤣
school have noticed a few things recently which helps and they have placed her on the sen register, but just wanted you to know your not alone!!!!! Rant away anytime x

Trying to work out what dates they are up to, has anyone heard with scan dates 12th June onwards? x

Teachermum3 · 10/10/2023 12:03

I think she is on their SEN register but that’s it no one plan. I think they just expect her to get ‘it’ because she doesn’t show any struggles. But in her report last year it says she needs to stop helping her friends in her class work and focus on her own- yet they didn’t pick that up to be a sign of distraction and not being able to focus on her task. Being a teacher myself I want to fight harder but the way they batted me away before we got her diagnosis they gave me anxiety to approach them- as silly as it sounds. But if we get refused due to the school not noticing I will put my teacher ‘voice/head’ on and write a letter about how many girls are being left behind, then when they get to secondary school, that’s when problems are more visual ( I work in secondary and see it so much). But I do think her teacher wasn’t great last year, so I am hoping this teacher might be on it more. So that will be interesting. Fingers crossed our girls get what they deserve. She’s just joined swimming lessons and it makes me laugh bless her, if only I could film and send it in- they would see the adhd shining through 😂

BabaganooToo · 10/10/2023 12:25

Hello could anyone give me advice on sending supporting evidence for a claim? DS has been given a plan at nursery and feel it should be added. Do I just send with his name and date of birth on it? Thanks 😊

Muva306 · 10/10/2023 12:26

@Goodthingswillcome that is amazing news!! I have a feeling mine has been rejected, just on hold to them now

hi all - a decision was made yesterday for me - scan date 5/6 - MRC. wasnt expecting mobility as she is only 3. I am so relieaved and grateful that she has been accepted but I Was thinking that she might have been entitled to higher rate due to night time needs however i didnt say as didnt want to look greedy. If i did a MR would this stop the payments that I am due to get or would they continue? x

Daisydimples · 10/10/2023 12:48

Congratulations!! I would definitely do a MR, my daughter got HRC and I'm assuming for that reason(night time needs) she wakes up for 4 hours each night obviously she has other care needs too. I'm not sure regarding payment but would imagine you would still get your MRC and if they decide in your favour get the rest added on but not 100%

Shibdib45 · 10/10/2023 13:01

I’ve heard nothing and we are 12/6 new claim

PinkMoscatoLover · 10/10/2023 13:01

If you have his reference number that’ll be helpful but if not just put his full name and date of birth and you’ll be fine:)

Payments remain whilst doing a MR so you’d still receive MRC. When you do a MR they’ll look at the whole claim again and they can reduce the rate to LRC or take away the award completely so always keep that in mind.

Did you include any evidence of night time care in the original claim? Sleep diary or professional evidence which highlights overnight care? Or do you have additional evidence that states this to send when doing the MR? If not, gather all the necessary evidence in time for renewal (if it’s a two year award). Just gotta weigh up the pros and cons!

zoeybrooks45 · 10/10/2023 13:13

Somebody update me if they have rang to see where claim is. Scan date is 13/06. 17 weeks today. Can’t call as I am at work

Muva306 · 10/10/2023 13:14

@Goodthingswillcome im so glad I saw your post and called!! They hadn’t even looked at it 🥴🥴🥴 he said it’s been sat in a pile that haven’t been looked at!! He said “it’s a 3 week turn around, oh it’s nearly been 3 weeks; give it until next Tuesday if you hadn’t heard anything call back” He said he’s sent it off to the case manager

Sjx5 · 10/10/2023 13:21

We are scan date 16/6 new claim the wait has been fine but the last few days its torture and we are still probably looking at another couple of weeks. 😅

crazytimes20 · 10/10/2023 13:22

Just parking myself here!! Scan date 25/7. Still quite a wait. Hope everyone gets the results they deserve. The wait is horrendous.

BabaganooToo · 10/10/2023 13:29

@PinkMoscatoLover thank you - I've only just sent his application a few weeks ago so don't have a reference number yet. Hoping I get one soon.

Raych1989 · 10/10/2023 13:33

Hi. New claim for my daughter. Scan date 04/07/23. Had 2 letters and 2 texts. Rang today to just see where I was at. The woman explained at least another 4/5 weeks wait for me as new claims are taking 18/19 weeks. The wait is driving me crazy.
It definitely wasn't this long when I claimed for my son a few years back.
Not much evidence sent for my daughter except for diagnosis of a chromosome deletion and awaiting assessment for autism. She is 14.
Fingers crossed for everyone waiting that they get good news 🙏

Georgia174 · 10/10/2023 13:36

Scan date 13/06 🤞🏻
