@5160Michelle my scan date is the 2nd june. Also recieved texts on same date! I am just waiting to get through now. Probably unlikely with them closing at 5pm but thought I'd try- the wait is just getting longer and longer and it stressing me out 🫣 hopefully not much longer for us both!! Will update here If I hear anything 🙂

YellowMellow22 · 21/09/2023 17:25

@Mumof2boys11 my other child was awarded today. I received a text message for him. So it really is luck if you get a message or not as my first didn’t x

Mumof2boys11 · 21/09/2023 17:28

@YellowMellow22 what scan date were you? It's so frustrating isn't it. Congrautions! What a relief for you. Xx

YellowMellow22 · 21/09/2023 18:12

@Mumof2boys11 thank you! Yes definitely a relief. Been the longest 17 weeks of my life! Scan date for both children was 22/05. How long have you been waiting? They’re definitely getting through mays claims a lot quicker than march and April xx

Mumof2boys11 · 21/09/2023 18:29

@YellowMellow22
I'm 16 weeks tomorrow. Such a anxious feeling waiting isn't it. My son really could do with it. Would make such a difference. Awesome you were awarded for both children. What evidence did you have 🙂 xx

Hi all !! I would like to ask something my daughter been qualified high rate dla .. last week on thursday my scan date was 15/5 … my question is … regarding universal credit … i need help last year my son been qualified middle rate dla so i did change circumstances and they give me extra 146£ something like that then i added my daughters high rate there do you think i would have some extra money for her as well or not ? I know it sound difficult but does anyone would be here to help me i would really appreciate it !!!

Mumofkidsx3 · 21/09/2023 21:46

@Jaymum12 i didn’t have to, this afternoon i suddenly got a phone call from DLA asking me to confirm my bank details (after going through security) he told me he was sending over my lump sum for my youngest son and I should receive a letter with all the other information. So yay I got it for 1 at least. I asked about the older one but he said he couldn’t tell me anything as he wasnt dealing with his application. @Lau523 🤗

Mumofkidsx3 · 21/09/2023 21:50

@Annalove1 its really difficult to say with Universal credit as everyone’s circumstances different, like if your working or how much you earn. Only way to know is to ask at job centre or just fill out the change of circumstances and they update it pretty quick normally.

Annalove1 · 21/09/2023 21:54

@Mumofkidsx3 Mumofkidsx3 im not working im full time carer .. well i did and they didnt responded they taking ages i was wodering if someone might know here and give me quicker respond i do really appreciate your response xxxx

Mumofkidsx3 · 21/09/2023 22:03

@Annalove1 ahh I see, I’m also full time caregiver now but only thing job centre told me was that when I get DLA the benefit cap will stop and my housing benefit should go up as they will accept that each child needs their own room. They really didn’t tell me anything else. Sorry I know that’s no help 😏

Annalove1 · 21/09/2023 22:08

@Mumofkidsx3 aww don’t worry about it xxx it’s absolutely fine xx ,,, well it’s been lately ridiculous with everything to be honest ! … for example i do live with my mother which she got high mental helth plus my 2 children are mentally disabled and i need my own space cause mother asking me to leave cause its a bit to much form both sides and im waiting on my band A on housing application nealry a year 😔 its just ridiculous

Mumofkidsx3 · 21/09/2023 22:20

@Annalove1 ohh gosh that sounds really difficult 😣 I’m sorry your having a tough time. Social housing was ridiculous for me also, I also was living at my mums after my marriage broke down and with the 3 kids, 2 with ASD,adhd it was so cramped in 3 bed house. In the end I managed to get a private landlord to accept us with a guarantor and got a 4 bed house but have only been getting a 3 bed housing benefit up till now. As you can imagine my rent is high so I’ve really been struggling but since I had to stop working(part time)due to my eldests epilepsy, I had to have meetings at the job centre and tbh they have helped me loads. I hadn’t realised the boys would be entitled to dla as I thought it was only for physically disabled. They helped me with all the forms and told me that I didn’t need to worry about looking for work as I’m caring for my children full time. They even got me in touch with a family worker that’s helping me with the boys schools and ehcps. Ask the job centre for a meeting with the family support worker/officer, it’s normally a charity, they can really help. Hope you manage to get into a better situation soon.🤗

CoffeeLover90 · 21/09/2023 22:43

@Annalove1 The disabled child element on uc is just over 400 per month. Then you get carers element too which is £180 per month.

Annalove1 · 21/09/2023 22:54

Mumofkidsx3 · 21/09/2023 23:19

@Annalove1 we are all stronger than we know 💪 🥰🥰🥰 sometimes we need a little chat and a virtual hug 🤗 to boost on though. Mumsnet really is an awesome place I can’t count the number of times I’ve popped on here(even before I had an account) to find reassurance with different aspects of motherhood. I first found mumsnet when I was pregnant with my eldest 😂 I’ve stalking it ever since 🥰

Mumofkidsx3 · 21/09/2023 23:20

@CoffeeLover90 aww this is great info thank you I’m saving this for future 🤗

Mumofkidsx3 · 21/09/2023 23:33

@Annalove1 I just went looking and found this , looks like £146 for disabled element and £456 if the child has severe disability element on uc

Yeah you can get it for more than one child. Add that note to your journal too just explaining you were awaiting dla outcomes for child who has high rate.
And if you don't already, get the carers element added too, you only get this for one child but it's £186 per month. ❤️
They'll take forever to back date but I'm sure you're used to waiting 🤣

YellowMellow22 · 22/09/2023 09:11

@Mumof2boys11 the wait is really so stressful. I agree it’s going to make such a difference to both my children’s lives too. For my first who's diagnosed ASD, I sent a questionnaire his nursery filled out for his paediatrician detailing his care needs, his last two paediatrician reports and his most recent hospital admissions for asthma. He was recently prescribed melatonin so I sent the prescription note. For my other child who’s on the pathway to ADHD, I sent loads of paediatrician reports regarding his behaviour as well as his food allergies. He’s anaphylaxis to nuts. His teacher wrote a letter too, it didn’t go into much detail about his care needs but I think it helped. I followed the cerebra guide which I think really helped me focus and realise how challenging they and how much I actually do but just thought was normal! Hope this helps and good luck xx

Does anyone know if the DLA renewals are taking the same amount of time as new claims? Thanks!

hi i just got off the phone to DLA new claims are taking 4.5 months not sure on renewals

Mumofkidsx3 · 22/09/2023 13:01

@Jaymum12@Lau523 I phoned DLA today my younger boy has got Middle care rate and lower mobility rate and they backdated it to the 18/04 🥳(the date I requested forms). I’m very happy he got what I feel he should have and is going to make such a huge difference. Thank you to @CoffeeLover90 🥰for sharing the UC disability child element backdating information, I have completed this today and was able to claim the carer element aswell, plus I have now asked that they give us the 4bed rate for housing element as my sons can not share. My eldest sons claim is still with a case manager but it should be completed soon 🤞. I hope you all hear for your little 😇 ones soon and it’s the decision you’d hoped for 🥰🤗
