I updated uc to from the dm with rates and rates and they haven’t even bother to message me back and I updated my journal last week and then did a change of circumstances under the children roll on another 5 month wait 🤣🤣 but does anyone know if the disabled child element will be updated sooner with uc? Hoping the wait is just the back date of money I would have been entitled too!

x

CHDmumma · 02/10/2023 11:17

@Chels2020 I have seen the elements get put on rather quickly but the backdate can take anything from a few weeks to 4 months. I spoke to someone this morning as I got slightly confused what I was doing and she said once it's looked at they'll change our entitlement so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Honestly I don’t understand why they don’t all work or the same system! I changed it last week they have just message me to say it’s with verification team and once they have verified my changes presuming they mean check the rates I changed they can request backdating

single parent To 5 children it’s going to make a huge difference to me doubt the changes will be done within my current award period mind! Xx

Zoemelia · 02/10/2023 11:32

So I’ve just called for a update as it’s 27 weeks today , I was told it will be end of October until here back which would take it to around 31 weeks 🤦‍♀️

Jneill2021 · 02/10/2023 11:38

That's terrible is it a coc or renewal? X

CoffeeLover90 · 02/10/2023 12:11

CHDmumma · 02/10/2023 10:13

Thank you so much! I cried when she told me 🤦🏻‍♀️ I think we will, we definitely need to celebrate. I've just updated our UC as the woman kindly gave me all the dates and rate so thought might as well get that ball rolling for another 4/5 month wait ❤️

Did you add the message for it to be backdated too? And if its Middle care onwards you can add carers element, in case you weren't aware.
I'm over the moon for you ❤

Zoemelia · 02/10/2023 12:12

Coc xx

CHDmumma · 02/10/2023 12:13

@CoffeeLover90 I did ask for it to be backdated and I also did the carers element too and asked for that to be backdated also.

Thank you so much. We only thought we'd get a year award due to his age and circumstances so completely over the moon for 2 years! Xx

Jneill2021 · 02/10/2023 13:29

That's terrible seems to be really hit and miss with how long there taking some are 27 weeks some are over, hope you hear back soon x

Mob12245 · 02/10/2023 13:30

Just been turned down for child with autism, doesn't have any extra needs apparently, school obviously don't think he needs any support, he behaves at school only because of the work o do behind the scenes to make that happen, devastated for my son, such an unfair system

CoffeeLover90 · 02/10/2023 14:00

@Mob12245 So sorry to hear that. Will you do a mandatory reconsideration? For additional evidence, ask a medical professional for a supporting statement if schools not been as helpful.

Hey they messaged me today uc about the change and they accepted it and said they will add to my next statement which funny enough is due tomorrow so I will
update you however I can’t see it taking effect that quick so expecting next month now x

Mumofkidsx3 · 04/10/2023 11:29

@Mob12245 oh gosh that’s dreadful, I think having a school which is really advocating for the child, even if it’s not for educational purposes but for emotional health and well-being is so important. My middle son could have been left like that if he didn’t have the ADHD and dyslexia but the school he goes to is amazing they really make sure they look after the whole child. They had him in little sessions for social understanding, then a mentor to discuss emotions ect ect. If you sons school isint doing any of those things I honestly would be looking into different schools. As far as DLA goes it’s really hit and miss with which DM you get it seems from hearing on here. I wish you all the best and hope you get more support from schools in future and DLA. 🥰

Mumofkidsx3 · 04/10/2023 11:30
