Im hoping to have a decision by week 17 going by other awards! 🤞. Its so hard this wait.my boy is 5 and has bilateral renal dysplasia and stage 3b chronic kidney disease and although mobile needs alot of care day and night/medication/8 week blood test and check up at childrens hospital to manage the condition and displays alot of symtoms related to both. But im so convinced i wont get anything and this wait is the worst!!! I have my fingers crossed for you🤞

The wait definitely feels worse as its gotten closer to our scan dates.

Amss · 07/09/2023 10:22

Hi just got the call from Dwp that my daughter awarded today Dont know how much scan date 2/5 they said letter on its way

Givemeallthetattoos · 07/09/2023 11:19

I rang and my daughter hasn't been awarded, they've said she doesn't require any more substantial care than a usual 10 year old would. They said she has traits of autism (she is fully diagnosed) I have appealed it because she needs help with everything, I have to chop her food because she can't use a knife and fork, I have to feed her, wash her hair, bath her, dress her, brush her teeth literally everything. She also sufferes chronic constipation which leads too alot of accidents which obviously she needs help with. I feel absolutely defeated, they've said alot of things that aren't true in their report like the fact she hasn't seen a healthcare professional in the last 12 months, absolute lie she got her diagnosis in march! Nevermind the appointments for her constipation. She also had a tonsillectomy 9 months ago so how theyve figured that I don't know! Does anybody know the appeal process?

Toddlermummy19 · 07/09/2023 11:29

That's disgraceful that they've declined your daughter! I'm unsure of the appeal process but maybe wait for the letter which should have details? If there is any further evidence like school reports maybe collate that and write a diary for the next few weeks detailing everything you do for her as I've heard they do take them as evidence! Good luck! I'm also waiting for my new claim for my daughter who has asd so I really do feel for you.

That’s so sad sorry for the bad news! Keep fighting for what she deserves xxxx

trace34567 · 07/09/2023 11:49

Givemeallthetattoos I am in the same boat as you my 13 year old son , I have to chop his food because he can't use a knife and fork, I have to feed him, wash his hair, bath him which takes hours as afraid of water and major sensory overload dress him, brush his teeth , takes hours to brush hair as hair brush hurts , wipe his bottom literally everything and now drs now they think he has ARFID as he only eats two food types and lucozade which we are waiting on CHAMHS and Beats as well as putting an ECHP in place as he can't cope at school at the moment he attends 2 mornings a week

Please DO NOT give up your daughter needs you

Mumtotwoboys121 · 07/09/2023 11:50

So sorry you’ve been declined for your daughter. I don’t have experience of the appeal process but my sister is currently waiting for tribunal for my nephew who’s also been denied.
I think you receive the letter with the reasons you have been declined then you send a letter back called mandatory reconsideration basically you pinpoint every point they’ve made why they have declined you and you say why you disagree etc.

Givemeallthetattoos · 07/09/2023 11:58

The lady I got through too read what they had wrote on the report, it's all aloud of sh*t if I'm honest (don't think I can swear on here lol) they said school said she requires no more extra attention, since her diagnosis they've given her a fan to show her emotions - extremely helpful 🙄I'm going to send some more evidence in but I haven't got alot to be honest so not really hopeful now. She gets so anxious about school and at school, everymorning "she doesn't feel well" and it's an absolute battle to get her into school it's heartbreaking. She masks all day at school and obviously comes home and meltsdown like I said I just feel so defeated but will keep pushing on and if they say she's not entitled again I will take it to tribunal!

Siennasafiya · 07/09/2023 12:09

@Givemeallthetattoos I'm so sorry to hear they haven't awarded you!! That's terrible, she clearly has additional needs to the average child her age!? You can do an MR over the phone I believe, think takes about 3/4weeks to hear back! Keep fighting though, get what you and your baby deserve! X

High rate care : 101.75
High Rate Mobility: 71
172.75 x 17 (weeks) = 2936

might be discrepancy if they change to 16.6 days etc but that rate seems correct.

I think you can update your journal with change of circumstances and then request to have payment back dated to scan date. Make sure you use scan date as change of circumstances date and explain you were waiting a decision. Hope that helps and Congrats! Can I ask if your child had a diagnosis and if you sent any evidence any?

Yep that's what Ive done the lady started the process this morning, which is better instead of waiting for the letter and ringing up and trying to get through all over again!

Mydogisamentalist · 07/09/2023 14:34

Just received a letter saying mandatory reconsiderations are taking up to 11 weeks.

My daughter was awarded HRC and LRM. I’ve asked them to look at the mobility again.

I am now panicking myself that I won’t get paid until they have looked at it again! Does anybody know whether that’s the case?
