Can I ask what the scan date is? Is it the date that they receive your form? Thanks!

You would find it on the first letter you got from them. I sent mine o 30th May, it got scanned into the system on 2/06

Just been awarded, MRC. Doctors wrote a letter to say she’s unsafe out on main roads due to her “no fear of danger” don’t understand why she wasn’t awarded low mobility. I will be appealing it! But I don’t know how 😭. Also, how does one apply for the disability care on universal credit?

Scan date was 25/5 and I rang up just out of curiosity. It was with the dm since Thursday

Helentwinsplus1 · 25/09/2023 15:58

I got a text this morning saying that they were still looking at it.

Sskanf · 25/09/2023 15:59

Thats great news congratulations.
How old is your daughter I'd u don't mind me asking. My son also has no sense of danger never really gone to dr in regards to this but I suppose it helps to do so as extra evidence towards claim

Mumof5xo · 25/09/2023 15:59

Just thought I'd let anyone know on UC you can claim carers element on UC and you can claim careers allowance together to change to the disability child element you need to go onto change of circumstances go to children who live with you and it will let you change it did all mine today x

Mammashaz · 25/09/2023 17:02

Hi there

I've had a letter and 2 texts that they're still looking at it. Was all excited the dwp text came up, but was just a other "we are still looking at your dla1 claim" , probably another 4 weeks then looking at everyone that has posted so far. The texts must be automatically sent as my texts were 20 days apart and someone else mentioned they got a text and then the second text was also 20 days apart.

So you can get both careers allowance and the uc element? I have always got careers allowance and had it deducted from my uc

MinnieTruck · 25/09/2023 17:07

Mumof5xo · 25/09/2023 14:39

No i meant I did all my part of the forms nursery just added there parts wasn't any evidence as were on waiting lists for everything still at the moment I gave a very detailed report on how he is at home I will find out once the letter comes just gotta keep thinking positive x

Ah right I completely get you! Yep see what reasons are stared in the MR. It can be different to explain how a toddlers care needs are different to a child of the same page without additional evidence but it can be done! Good luck and keep us all updated🤞🏾

Call DLA when you can and ask for the reasons why she was declined. Ask them to send you a letter of these reasons as you want to do a MR. See the below pics if you want to claim disability and carers element

Mine took no longer than 2 weeks to be approved. Some people wait months though so it all depends. Instead of leaving a message on your journal for your work coach, click on ‘Payments’ instead. That goes straight to the DM and can avoid any back and forth nonsense between the work coaches and DM

Mumof5xo · 25/09/2023 17:12

No you can claim them both hun its not told to many people because its extra income but you can claim both together you just ask uc to add careres element x

Mammashaz · 25/09/2023 17:25

Carers allowance is deducted £4£ from UC.

I'm just wrecking my brain out trying to think of what they could of actually rejected it for I really can't think everything I did I went through over and over to check she sent the letter out today for the MR so I'm actually glad I did ring hopefully receive this by next week to get it completed and sent back x

You can claim the disabled and carers element on UC which gets added to your claim before any deductions. Not really any point claiming carers allowance as the whole value gets deducted from your UC.

You’re no better off claiming carers allowance however some people prefer it as they like the weekly payments

emamc · 25/09/2023 18:13

Hi I have been stalking this page for a while now, my scan date is 13th June and I have had 2 letters, 28th June and 31st July.
I have also had 3 text messages, 28th June, 21st August and 12th September.
I am really hoping for a decision soon, my son is 13 and going through assessments for ADHD and Autism. I think that they are getting close to the June scan dates 🤞

This is correct but they don't deduct the whole carer's allowance I works out around 20 a week so roughly round 80 a month would be taken

MinnieTruck · 25/09/2023 18:20

@Mumof5xo that’s good hopefully the letter comes to you soon.

Carers allowance 100% gets taken off pound for pound over the course of 12 month. I’d add a link but I’m in M&S stressing what’s for dinner🤣

Kerrie245 · 25/09/2023 18:23

Hi,
my scan date is 25/05 - I called last week but still hasn’t been allocated.
my daughter is 3 and is on the autism pathway, has global delay and speech delay. She had a specialist report that said she is around 12 months delayed in all areas of her development.
anyhow, when I applied in may the evidence I sent was reports from November 2023, since then she has had new assessments / reports completed July 2023, I sent them in august 2023 but called the other day and they said they haven’t received those forms. I’m worried that my application will be looked at soon and will be declined on the basis that the evidence is 10 months old now…

I'm more then sure it don't my close friend is on uc she claims both careers allowance and element they take 24.65 a week which totals to just under 100 a month taken from her uc x

Edited

I’m 15th june. Getting tense now. I’ve seen so many refused. I literally only had a report from school teacher and a statement saying she’s been put on sen register and doctor has referred for asd. 😳 also had texts on 21st august and 12th September

Weekly carers allowance is £75 something pence so how is she getting £20 something a week, doesn’t sound like carers allowance? Anyway, I don’t want to derail the thread!

Some people decide to claim carers allowance and some prefer to just stick to carers element
