@Mumof5xo if you don’t mind me asking what evidence did you send for your 3yr old? I’ve just looked back at what you put yesterday how he’s non verbal, in a pushchair, flaps his hands and walks on his tiptoes, I don’t get how he didn’t get accepted? I’ve got a 3yr old and I sent my forms off last week for him, exactly the same as your little one non verbal, walks on tip toes, has to be in a pram, doesn’t sleep much at night, sensory processing disorder and suspected autism. I only applied for him as the health visitor told me too, the only evidence I sent was the section 23 letter, speech and language report, and a couple of assessments the health visitor has done on him, he’s seeing the paediatrician on weds so will send their report too once I’ve got it x

Mumofkidsx3 · 25/09/2023 11:54

@Loup19863 aww I’m sorry your family went through that, covid really did suck big time. The struggle is real for us mummy’s of SEN kids 💪 but just shows how amazing and strong we all are. 🥰

That’s amazing news! Well done ❤️🥳 I’m too nervous to call! I’ll see if any funds magically appear in my bank account on Wednesday and go from there lol

Mumofkidsx3 · 25/09/2023 11:58

@Jaymum12 after i got disconnected the first time I rang today, I had the same plan, just to wait then I dunno I just pressed the redial button and voilà 😂 🤞 those magic funds arrive on Wednesday for you. 🥰

Mumof5xo · 25/09/2023 12:02

Yes I'm definitely going to appeal they can't say its his age as my friends son has been getting it since he was 3 so I'm gonna wait and see why but my 3 year old is so much more worse then my 5 year old he doesn't speak or anything never has clothes has clothes on even nursery are agreeing and sent of forms to peds for me im so happy for my 5 year old but my 3 year old decision had really hit a nerve x

Not much evidence just very detailed about how he is and nursery also completed there forms we done get to know me forms waiting for a ped to pick it up speece and language has just confirmed appointments I've done 5 parent courses he is the same as your 3 year down to a tee from what you've just put he didn't only turn 3 today so maybe this is why x

Mumofkidsx3 · 25/09/2023 12:06

@Mumof5xo Really hope your appeal is successful, hopefully it will go to a more considerate DM on appeal, one that really looks at your sons case properly 🤞

Loup19863 · 25/09/2023 12:11

@Mumof5xo I can imagine it’s hit a nerve, I just don’t see how they can decline him with all you’ve said. I wonder if it’s different in different areas because my boy hasn’t long turned 3 so the HV started the process when he was 2 which was a couple of months ago, it’s been about 8wks altogether and so far he’s already been seen by speech and language who did a detailed report, HV has applied for section 23 so he can have 1-1 at nursery, we’ve got first paeds app on weds so it’s all been quite quick up to now which has surprised me. I’m not at all expecting to get it for him though and I only applied as HV told me too but I’ve read it’s quite hard to get for little ones x

Loup19863 · 25/09/2023 12:28

@Hmcc123 literally just got through now, still with DM 🙄 he said end of the week early next week 😅 I’m not going to call again it’s making my anxiety through the roof! Are you going to call again today? X

Sskanf · 25/09/2023 12:40

Congrats on getting awarded for your 5 year old

Thats ridiculous u got turned down for your 3 year old his got all the same traits as min 3.5 year old I've still got a while to hear back
It's ridiculous they declined you should ask on what grounds and for sure appeal

Mumof5xo · 25/09/2023 12:42

I'm gonna wait for letter to see why he's actually not got it I've asked for a reconsidration letter that has been sent out today so hopefully receive this soon nursery did it all for me I was told a 2 year waiting list to even been seen by a ped so I don't know im based Nottinghamshire so I don't know its its because of backlogs or anything for the peds being such a wait im actually shocked that my 5 year old got it over my other child his issues are so much more then my 5 year olds it really has baffled me x

Wishiwasincornwall · 25/09/2023 12:46

I called this morning as it is 17 weeks for my claim for my son (scan date 30/5). I was told the wait has now gone up to 20 weeks before it is passed to a DM.

That’s absolutely ridiculous x

Loup19863 · 25/09/2023 13:08

@Hmcc123 i thought mine had been with the DM since Thursday but the guy I’ve just spoken to said last Tuesday and as far as he can see it’s not been looked at, he said there’s no notes on there that they’re waiting on any extra info from anyone so it’s just a case of waiting for it to be looked at in the pile the DM has got. I bet our forms are in the same pile with the same DM 😅 xxx

Man said exact same thing to me I hope we get it xxxxx

Loup19863 · 25/09/2023 13:42

@Mumof5xo that’s absolutely shocking 2yrs to even be seen by a ped, I’m based in Manchester so probably is due to different areas, backlogs etc, tbh I’m surprised my little on has got all these apps through so quickly, maybe after the first appointments that’s when I assume we will have the long waits, really no idea how it all works as my other sons assessments have been done through school x

Lollypops88 · 25/09/2023 14:07

@Mumof5xo im so sorry to hear this, if u can get eveidence from ur nursery maybe that can help :( dont give up they say alot of the time MR are sucesful
I am in the same boat with my daughter she is also on the autism pathway where i live she has been refurred to a specialist provision nursery where they are assesing her needs and helping her try to communicate

Mumofkidsx3 · 25/09/2023 14:12

@Loup19863 I’m near Liverpool, yeah our long waits for diagnosis was after the initial assessments. X

MinnieTruck · 25/09/2023 14:36

@Mumof5xo sorry to hear that your 3 year old wasn’t awarded. I certainly don’t think it has much to do with age as my 11 month old was awarded just earlier this year.

Other than imput from the nursery, what other evidence did you send? If you do a MR then I defo recommend you filling out the forms as your DC would spend more time with you than at nursery. The only thing with MR is you can’t add any more specific information. So you can send new evidence but you have to bullet point/explain why you think the decision is wrong based on what was included in the original claim!

I hope that makes sense but including as much professional information that you have will help with the MR. Did the nursery fill in all pages of the form? How would they know what his care needs were outside of nursery if so?

Mumof5xo · 25/09/2023 14:39

No i meant I did all my part of the forms nursery just added there parts wasn't any evidence as were on waiting lists for everything still at the moment I gave a very detailed report on how he is at home I will find out once the letter comes just gotta keep thinking positive x
