I see thread 12 is full. Is there a Part 13 already, or shall we make this it?

Hi, I received 3 messages in total. One the day after it went to the dm. I haven't received a message to say I my son has been awarded like others have.

Carers element is similar to the disabled child element and gets added to your UC claim before any deductions. You request this via a change of circumstances.

To claim carers allowance you have to be earning less than £139 a week. I personally don’t think there’s any point in claiming carers allowance as it gets deducted in full by UC. So you’re not getting anymore money, it just comes to you weekly and that’s it.

You’ll have to wait for a response on your journal. You can chase it up but they have to send it to the DM to get approved so can take a little while

Many thanks for this. Wouldn't be eligible for carers allowance then, however I'm assuming the fact we have HRC will mean we will be eligible for the element side. Disabled child element has been added and was done by change of circumstances.

This is very odd, a few weeks after sending mines off they asked for my little one birth certificate and sent it back. Is there a reason that they would ask for this? I would put in a complaint. As why haven’t they done this earlier on, is it a new claim?

Edited

So you’ll need to request carers element via a change of circumstance. They won’t add it on automatically unfortunately. I’ve included a screenshot above on what to do but you’re probably aware of the process!

Disabled element for a child on HRC is £456 so that’s extremely helpful. You’ll receive a good backpay amount with that and carers element. Don’t forget to ask for carers element to be backed via your journal once you’ve done a coc

So I'm clear, I've already had the disabled element added, can see that already on my next statement, requested back pay via journal. Now I need to change circumstances again for carers element and then request back pay for that also

No probs! My 11 month old was awarded MRC just a few months ago so I remember the process. The DLA support group on FB is also extremely helpful if you ever need anymore assistance:)

@Givemeallthetattoos Hello lovely!! My 5 year old sons was declined 30/08 from my scan date 28/4. I asked for a detailed breakdown of why it was rejected, I received both the declined letter and further breakdown the same day about 10 days later. I filled in my MR and sent off yesterday. Have you filled the form in yet??

Kyarcy1316 · 22/09/2023 13:00

I called at 9.15 this morning to check my evidence had arrived and it took 53 minutes to get through. The man I spoke to said they are being advised to say 19 weeks he was very helpful.

Hey! Ah I'm so sorry to hear that, I asked for a breakdown they've not sent it! The only thing I've received is the decision letter and the letter saying I've started mandatory reconsideration as I rang the day I got the text saying a decision was made. I have sent off all extra information and evidence today, hoping it will be enough 🤞

Newtothismumoftwo · 22/09/2023 13:07

Hi, I am a long time lurker first time poster. I have a scan date of 16/06 and received a call from a decision maker this morning asking for my bank details as they said I left them off of the form. They said they hope to have it processed today and I'll know in the next 10 days. I feel physically sick as I wasn't expecting to hear yet due to the wait times. Does anyone know if this is a positive sign? Praying for this support so much.

I did ring on Wednesday to explain I had to send my information of later due to my daughter being poorly, he said not to worry and that they can't make the decision without that information, and that reconsiderations are taking 3-6 weeks if that's any help at all x

Oh wow, that’s great news! Did you send a lot of evidence and does your child have a diagnosis? Usually when DM calls it means decision is imminent. I don’t think you will be waiting that long.

Superbook7 · 22/09/2023 13:34

That sounds very positive. My scan date is the 6/6. Haven't heard anything yet and after almost an hour trying to get through to them they cut me off! Well done.
