18/5 scan date, middle-rate care for a year that literally got awarded first thing this morning.
The backdate starts from May 24th as I guess that was from the start of the week.

MinnieTruck · 15/09/2023 10:10

Called at 9 and got through within 9 minutes. Lovely guy who told me that THOUSANDS of claims are just sitting between 5-8 weeks in a pile until they’re being scanned in.

I saw on Royal Mail tracking that my forms were delivered on the 11th of August. 5 weeks later today and they still haven’t been scanned in. So unless you receive a letter informing you that it’s been received or you call up and get told the scan date, don’t assume that it’s been scanned in just because it’s been delivered. That’s not the case unfortunately! It’s going to be a longgg wait for us🫠

Mammabear15 · 15/09/2023 10:48

I was told this morning that the wait time is 19weeks. I was 18 weeks yesterday and it’s with DM so 🤞🏻. Told me to ring back Wednesday If I’ve not heard anything.

Wow that’s ridiculous , I sent mine in on 13th june and received a letter to say it was received on 14th x

MinnieTruck · 15/09/2023 11:37

@Mumtotwoboys121 yep that was my experience when I sent off my son’s forms in March! I guess there’s just loads of new claims and COCs. It’s annoying how many weeks have been wasted but hope it get’s scanned in soon

Chazspence12 · 15/09/2023 12:42

I'm on hold now hoping it's with DM 17 weeks today 🤞

Amss · 15/09/2023 23:42

Hi my daughter awarded dla last week so can I apply for carer allowance as she got high rate care ?

MinnieTruck · 16/09/2023 00:29

Amss · 15/09/2023 23:42

Hi my daughter awarded dla last week so can I apply for carer allowance as she got high rate care ?

You can only claim carers allowance if you earn less than £139 a week, if you earn more than that then you won’t be eligible. There’s not really any point in claiming carers allowance as it gets deducted from your UC pound for pound anyway. Some people claim it because they prefer to get payments each week as that helps with budgeting but it’s not like you get any extra money…

Claim carers element which gets added to your UC claim, it’s £185 a month. Also claim the disabled child element, as your child is on HRC then this is £414 a month. Both of these elements will get added to your claim before any deductions. You’ll need to do this via a change of circumstances on UC.

You can claim carers if you want and are eligible but there really isn’t any point as like I said, it isn’t any extra money

Hi. I have a scan date of 01/06. I received 1 letter about 6/7 weeks after saying they have my form and my above scan date. This is all I have had. No texts. No other letters. No phone calls. No emails. This normal? Or anyone else the same? I’ve seen a lot of people gets texts and i put my mobile down. I’m worried they had it, let me know they had it and have now lost it. Anyone in the same boat?

AutisticDaughter · 16/09/2023 07:58

Hi all,

Hoping someone can help. Based on our earnings we get some UC. Daughter awarded HRC and LRM, so I believe we can add disabled element to UC? (not sure how to do this). With DLA and then disabled element of UC, do we then lose the UC we receive based on earnings or does this stay the same?

Thanks for any help and fingers crossed to those waiting for decisions

Hi, DLA is not a means tested benefit, so UC will not deduct payments i already asked UC this question , on your journal in UC if you tell them ‘My child has been awarded (rates) from (dates) & I’d like to request the child disability element gets added on & backdated. Reasons for late reporting are because dla have just made the decision, thank you’

AutisticDaughter · 16/09/2023 08:35

Thankyou 😊

@AutisticDaughter this isn’t necessarily true. DLA isn’t means tested yes so you’ll always receive your HRC and LRM straight into your bank account regardless of any wages.

Once you have the disabled and carer element on your UC before deductions, deductions will still be made based on your earnings (if you work) like normal.

You need to report a chance of circumstances on your UC to request the disabled and child element. You put a message on your journal to request the backdated payments. I’ll add a screenshot of what to do as it’s a bit clearer

MinnieTruck · 16/09/2023 09:41

@AutisticDaughter also, make sure that when you add the message on your journal, make sure to do it under ‘Payments’ and not ‘Message for my work coach’ so that it goes straight to the DM. Less faff that way as it goes directly to the right person
