My son was declined on 1st July - his scan date was the 15th March we are doing a mandatory reconsideration🤞Their reasons for decline were pure rubbish and my claim pack and evidence definitely wasn’t read properly 🤦🏼‍♀️

Adhdmummytoyearold · 05/07/2023 18:07

thank you for your kind messages still can’t believe he was awarded, hes 7 years old and is very hyper too. I wanted to know how the universal credit backdate works like the care element? Can someone assist me with that please as i have no idea what to say to them

Hannahkate90 · 05/07/2023 17:36

@Pk12 I'm sure you should still get it as Ur claim was in before the end date of its assessment dates and was successful .. sure someone put on different thread you can go on and report it as a missed payment on gov website

Thank you

Congratulations on your award

Definitely do, address every reason why they stated he wasn’t awarded and why you believe it’s incorrect referring to evidence for each point
my daughters definitely wasn’t all read correctly , I sent off MR , called on the 19th June and it had just been scanned in that day…. She was awarded yesterday so really quick tbh x

So glad you got an award after a MR heard a lot of people don’t but I’m holding out hope 🙏I’ve gathered a few more bits of evidence from health visitor and school specifically to prove that their reasons aren’t the truth at all 🤦🏼‍♀️So hoping they will help his case too 🙏

Mumoftoomanykids · 06/07/2023 08:16

scan date of 23rd March and had money transferred this morning. I have had no text or letters saying my son has been awarded

Kenny312 · 06/07/2023 09:00

This is exactly what I did
I had a letter from the school nurse and and updated doc from school which basically addressed each of the points , I then put in letter
point a is incorrect because xyz as stated in document a
etc etc
I wasn’t holding out much hope but you have nothing to loose x

Just spoke to someone a decision was made yesterday scan date 20th. It was declined they will send out reasons why. I did expect it tbf.

Shan001 · 06/07/2023 10:21

Scan date: 16th March
Decision: 30th June
Payment received 5th July.
No text confirmation received.
Called up and was advised I'd receive a letter within 2weeks confirming all details..
The first week is not counted, so payment is actually from the following week after scan date, so for my daughter's application it is from the 23rd March not 16th March.

@Kenny312 really happy to hear you decided to do MR and was successful.

To anyone else that is declined.. It does seem most applications of mummas that go through MR have posted that the decision was overturned so I would suggest anyone who does not receive a positive decision should do this.

Wishing all you lovely mummas the absolute best. This thread has been so helpful in keeping my anxiety down and stopping me from calling everyday to chase if a decision has been made.

I will stay tuned.. Make sure you all apply for carers allowance and if you drive, obtaining a blue badge is also possible.. Advise tax credits/UC of DLA payments within 1month of being awarded as your other benefits will increase also and there is also funding available for going on family days out, activities and more x

Oh no! After all of that waiting, I’m so sorry to hear that. Please do a MR as so many people have had a decision made without having to go to a tribunal

Ll333 · 06/07/2023 11:39

I know it’s very frustrating but I did expect it but I have more evidence and I will definitely do a mr as I think he is very much entitled to some help. I’ll just wait and see what it was refused on as I gave so much evidence. I’ll keep you updated

clareykb · 06/07/2023 12:11

Scan date of 17th of March awarded today as in money in bank account but no text ! Soo happy wasn't even with dm on Monday

barelyfunctional · 06/07/2023 14:15

15 weeks today/tomorrow for me so hoping I hear something soon! I work all week so no time to phone, just have to wait…

Skyew2 · 06/07/2023 14:19

I just called my scan date is the 20th march mines with a case manager now does anyone now how long that takes?

Ll333 · 06/07/2023 16:02

Well mine wasn’t Monday afternoon and a decision was made yesterday. So it depends I think.

Lo89 · 06/07/2023 22:07

Hi I have seen a few people say they were turned down due to not including school reports.
I haven't included anything from the school tbh is this usually a reason they reject claims?

Ll333 · 07/07/2023 09:15

You had any news yet?

ItsBritneyBitchhhh · 07/07/2023 09:58

I finally called this morning and my little boy (only 14 months old) has been awarded MRC. He has a genetic disorder and I sent in A LOT of evidence. He couldn’t get HRC because he has no night time needs at all.

Really happy as I was worried he’d been declined. I called for the forms in February and my scan date was 20th of March. They money will be back paid from February so that’s good news.

Anyone who’s waiting from 20th of March hopefully you hear soon🤞

@Ll333 have you thought about doing a MR?

Ll333 · 07/07/2023 10:26

Amazing news so happy for you. I definitely will do one just waiting for the letter of reasons why they declined. I didn’t send in the school plan as he didn’t have one at the time as his consultant said he wasn’t allowed back to school because of his condition. So it could be that. I’ll keep you updated x

Skyew2 · 07/07/2023 15:29

Please do keep me updated with everything, I’ll be thinking of you and your little one! X

For anyone who’s on UC. First screenshot is how you report the disabled element and the carers element which can be added onto your claim (only applies if your child has MRC or LRC).

Second screenshot is what to write in your journel to request a backpay for both elements to when your child got awarded. Hope that helps anyone!
