She’s been declined

Mumto2sengirlsxx · 26/05/2023 13:31

@Kenny312 your joking? Did they say why? I'm so sorry you've been waiting for ages for that result :( x

urrrgh46 · 26/05/2023 13:56

Place marking! I've applied for a second child - scan date 2/5 (it's going to be a long wait!!) First child gets higher rate and mid rate mobility. I think we waited 13 weeks from
scan date. It was jan 2022.

urrrgh46 · 26/05/2023 13:57

sorry @Kenny312 that you've been declined. Did you follow the cerebra guidance?

Shellbel10 · 26/05/2023 14:14

Oh no sorry to hear this can I ask what evidence you sent in

Kenny312 · 26/05/2023 14:40

Thanks all
I sent in IDP , letters from 2 hospitals , epilepsy care plan … they said that as school doesn’t have a plan for outdoor and that she is able to go outdoors at break and is able to cross a road by herself ( which if I’m honest she doesn’t as she doesn’t go out on her own, which I put on the form) , she is able to dress herself and feed herself there is no mobility or care needs 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
on one of the letters from the hospital it mentioned that she hadn’t had a clonic tonic sezuire since the partial removal of the tumour , however the letter was dated 6 weeks after the op , ie august last year , I put in the form that she has focal sezuires regularly, so again they referred back to the letter stated she hasn’t had seizures
to be honest it is what it is , the anxiety and stress this whole process has caused I’m just glad I have an answer one way or another

Kenny312 · 26/05/2023 14:41

Also thank you to you all for being such great support over the last few weeks

Nicole12345 · 26/05/2023 15:26

Awww @Kenny312 im gutted for you. After such a long wait as well 😔

Mum331 · 26/05/2023 15:36

Hi @Kenny312 I know this news is really disheartening, take a few days off from thinking about all this. Then do a MR, note all the points that she was rejected on and write why you disagree. Maybe you can contact school for a letter of support. Does she have anybody externally that is involved with her care if she does get a letter from them. You don't have to do it all at once but make notes then put it all together and send off for a appeal. Make sure you do it in the time frame. You've waited this long, what's a couple more weeks ? , and you will get backdated from your original date. Please don't give up. You can do this. I hope all goes well for you and you get what your daughter deserves.

Mumto2sengirlsxx · 26/05/2023 16:29

@Kenny312 I know it must be so upsetting and frustrating but fight it!! Don't give up on getting what you and your child deserves were all here to support you in the MR process xx

Nicole12345 · 26/05/2023 16:38

I agree with @Mum331 @Mumto2sengirlsxx absolutely go for a MR when you are ready to. It’s worth another shot, wish you all the best xx

Hei1234 · 26/05/2023 18:02

@Kenny312 so sorry to hear this… from what you have put on here your child definitely deserves to qualify for dla, don’t give up hope xxx

Kenny312 · 26/05/2023 18:04

thank you all lovey ladies
I’m going to take the weekend then think about it again on Tuesday and put together a MR 😊

No way!!!! That's awful pls don't give up! It's what ur little 1 is entitled to, put the MR in and I'd get school to do a letter, and ask her consultant, stay strong and don't give up ❤️ big hugs xxxxx

FamilfuelebyADHD · 26/05/2023 20:42

@Kenny312 please fight it, it makes me so angry when they refuse and with so much evidence.
Wait until you receive the decision in writing, note every point and gather evidence and send stating that isn't correct! Get and professionals that know your child to state it aswell. Good luck and we are all here to help and support. X

Mummytomy2girls · 27/05/2023 11:05

Hi all, just a quick question. I understand there is an extra child element on UC now my daughter has been awarded DLA. Does anyone know if this gets backdated to her scan date so 22/02? Or is it just from when she is awarded.

thank you x

Mumto2sengirlsxx · 27/05/2023 11:36

@Mummytomy2girls technically you'd be backdated to the scan date because your dla gets backdated to the scan date, or when you called which makes it no longer a scan date but a dla award date if you know what I mean? I don't have a work coach on my uc and they are doing my nut in with this extra element I've done what I need to do but apparently they don't understand what I want them to do xx

Mummytomy2girls · 27/05/2023 12:02

@Mumto2sengirlsxx wow that’s ridiculous! How can they not understand😂 yes that makes sense thank you. Hoping it’s straight forward. I’ve updated it on my journal so hopefully they don’t take too long x

baublewobble · 28/05/2023 19:37

My scan date is the 22nd Feb to although the latest to send in was 21st and I sent it by freepost so didn't arrive on time apparently. Getting worried seeing others being awarded that date, that she has been declined. Do they ring to tell you they've been declined or do we have to wait for a letter? I am so stressed out because I don't feel I filled the form in well enough. OT wrote us a letter of support but I've still not had a report yet which would have been very helpful. Arghh

Nicole12345 · 28/05/2023 23:27

@baublewobble wouldn’t worry about your scan date yet. My son was awarded on 24th his scan date was 16.02. So you still have time for a decision 😊 yeah you would need to call them. I just called 3 days in a row to see if there was a decision. It went to the DM on the Monday and he was awarded on the Wednesday. You can also call them and give them extra information over the phone to add to the file. All the best x

Mummytofivegirls · 29/05/2023 13:08

@Mummytomy2girls I let UC know on 12th May, they ignored me for days I left 3 messages and rang 3 times. Then finally got a message back saying under special circumstances it will be back dated but still not heard anything I asked them how long it will be and still not replied 🙈 xx

Mummytomy2girls · 29/05/2023 13:16

@Mummytofivegirls ahh as if dealing with DLA wasn’t stressful enough and now you have to deal with this! My daughter got awarded last week which was a huge relief but now this is stressing me too! I’ve updated my journal and left a message so just another waiting game now I guess

Hei1234 · 29/05/2023 17:00

Can I just ask if anyone can help me, my daughter has only just been referred for asd assessment and anxiety, she has also self harmed so can’t be left alone! We have a letter from the doctor stating this, letter from school and her counsillor and a letter about her self harming, should this be enough or would I need more please?

NJS3 · 29/05/2023 21:41

What sort of things do they phone to ask? 😊

NJS3 · 29/05/2023 22:02

Hi I’ve sent off forms for my son. He has ASD and inattention. He’s not diagnosed ADHD although I believe he is! I sent off his ASD report and letter from family and a friend that’s also worked with him professionally. In school he is calmer and masks. He copes less well at home. There are things at school like hurting others, talking constantly etc and below academically by a few years. He is quite independent dressing etc but needs watching at home all the time! No sense of danger or stranger awareness. I didn’t send any other evidence as no one else works with him. I know school will get a form to complete from DWP. Has anyone been awarded under similar circumstances please?
