@ClareN82 I will ring Tuesday the day before hopefully will have a decision by then - it’s bank holiday Monday too isn’t it

LittleBlueBrioTrain · 23/05/2023 20:11

@Orangemop my sons ran out on 21st, decision was reached on 19th (still not heard anything yet, but called this morning as hadn't heard)

Orangemop · 23/05/2023 20:14

@LittleBlueBrioTrain so it really is going right to the end thank you for letting me know - I will call Tuesday and hopefully have a decision fingers crossed

Hi there mummies,
I've read through this thread and just want to say you are all amazing.. All your children are very lucky to have mummas like you in their corner!

This thread is really great, I love the support shown and the helpful info shared.. it truly has helped me stay sane.. well.. at least get no further into crazy town than I already am! 🤪

My scan date is 16 March. I received a letter confirming receipt of application and that it should be processed within 12weeks dated 1 April, received another letter dated 3 May apologising that they have not given a decision yet and a text message yesterday stating they are still looking at the claim.

It is crazy that the dates everyone is getting replies are not consistent with scan dates. I have a suspicion that maybe this is based on the area we live in and how quickly each DM gets through their assigned cases.

I'm based in North London.. What about you lovely mummas?

upthewallmumof3 · 23/05/2023 20:56

Thanks @upthewallmumof3 🥰
Oh no, wow.. waiting over an hour to get an automated message and cut off is ludicrous!! 😵‍💫🤯😤
The saying.. 'you get out what you put in' comes to mind so don't see it as wasted time🤩
So you're in Liverpool.. what was your scan date? I'm really curious about the areas theory.

I'm at 10weeks.. I saw a few mummas posts recently saying they received a decision at around 13weeks and the 1st letter said 12weeks so I'll probably give them a call around 13weeks to see what they say and then again if nothing at 15weeks.. Seeing all the posts about differing dates and rude and unhelpful advisors, I'ma TRY not to call because it seems like a wind up.. and I'll no doubt get the least empathetic and rude person that will suck the rage out of me and then have to deal with being blacklisted for telling them about themselves🤐🫣
..I know we can all have a bad day but it does sometimes seem like the most uncaring people are employed in positions that should require compassion and care.. I guess the few abusers of the system overide the rest!!

Anywho.. I digress:
Is there anyone that has received a decision able to let us know what area you are in and how many weeks it took for your decision to be made?

Hei1234 · 23/05/2023 22:27

@Shan001 I am near enough the same scan date as you, mine is the 14th March! I rang the other day and got told 14 and a half weeks, I’m in Devon x

upthewallmumof3 · 23/05/2023 22:40

@Shan001 that's what they said to me last week, hoping it will be the end of this week 🙏🏻xxx

upthewallmumof3 · 23/05/2023 22:41

@Shan001 mine was 16.02 and my 2nd form is the 02.03 xxx

Mummytomy2girls · 24/05/2023 09:29

Called again first thing this morning. They are still saying 15week wait before it’s even picked up by a DM🙄

Peachlollipop · 24/05/2023 09:31

When I phoned back in early March, I’m sure I was told 17 weeks! I do suspect that some add on a week or so in order to manage expectations and try to reduce follow up calls. I’m at 12 weeks today.

NDandMe · 24/05/2023 09:49

I'm not expecting any news til end of June at the earliest. Scan date was 8 March.

I've sent more information to them so I'm actually hoping it hasn't reached a DM yet so they can look at everything!

Mumto2sengirlsxx · 24/05/2023 10:54

Nicole12345 · 24/05/2023 11:23

Hi all, this is for the people awaiting on a renewal.

My renewal date was the 20th May. My scan date for the renewal paperwork was the 22nd February.

I called them today (just under an hour wait) and they said that the decision had been made on the 18th May (so 2 days before the renewal date). They also said that that the renewal had changed and that he was now on higher rate care and lower rate mobility, great for us as he was previously on the middle rate.

They said they put a payment request through to cover the extra bit he has been awarded until the next payment day. This was put though on the 19th May and after checking it hit my bank account yesterday (23rd May). They said that my future payments will just continue to be on a Wednesday every 4 weeks like they have always been and I won't have a gap in payments.

Unfortunately, I forgot to ask how long he has been rewarded for, but I can let you know once I get the letter. Previously it has always been for 2 years.

I never received a text and the letter is on it's way apparently. I think that they are leaving renewals to the last minute at the moment.

After reading the thread I'll try and answer the questions that have come up.

I live in the West Midlands.

My son is 13 years old and had Austim and ADHD. This is my 2nd renewal and on both previous occasions he got 2 years of payments. We also previously had middle rate care and low mobility.

On his first claim he was undiagnosed, but had referral letters to the children's unit and also speech and language.

On the second application he had got his ADHD diagnosis and was on medication for the ADHD.

This last one, he is no longer in the ADHD medication (it didn't really work for him) but he did have his autism diagnosis at that point too.

I have never got anyone else to fill in the support statement part as to be honest I've been to embarrassed to ask. I just write in there 'see attached letters'.

The evidence for this last renewal I sent was his diagnosis letter for the autism and also printed off his school 'passport' (that's what the school call thier senco notes that are on the school system for teachers to read).

Hope this helps others. I'm just trying to show that the diagnosis and gettng the form filled in by a 'professional' is not a deal braker because I've never had the support part filled in by a teacher or other professional. Also, the first DLA claim we were successful at getting without a diagnosis, just the letter to say we'd been refered. With the second DLA renewal, I just included the copies of the teachers reports that were completed for his referral to go through.

Good luck everyone and happy to answer any questions.
