Pb12three · 22/05/2023 18:19

Hi All,

Not sure if in correct thread so apologies if not. Applied for DLA for my 18month old son, scan date was 11/04 and had letter saying upto 15 weeks. Question is, i received a 2nd letter from DWP asking for my sons original birth certificate to be sent in and it would be sent back immediately. Has anybody else had this?

Thanks

Nicole12345 · 22/05/2023 18:24

@Pb12three Hi, was your child born outside of England? maybe it to confim identify but I don’t know it’s just a guess. Hopefully someone on here can help you x

Pb12three · 22/05/2023 18:32

Hello there. No born in the UK. Strange I thought too. Thank you x

Pb12three · 22/05/2023 18:35

@Nicole12345 Born in England I should say x

Nicole12345 · 22/05/2023 19:05

@Pb12three are you or dad from outside the uk? Or maybe it’s just a completely random check they do on some many people every now and then xx

Pb12three · 22/05/2023 19:07

@Nicole12345 nope both born in England x

Nicole12345 · 22/05/2023 19:12

@Pb12three most likely to confirm identity then I’d guess like to confirm your child exists. Maybe they do random checks as you do hear of sick people making claims for none existent children unfortunately. Don’t quote me on it though just an educated guess. Hopefully someone else can shed a bit more light xx

Hey anyone had a text today saying they are still looking athe claim? Does that mean it's with a dm or still in the pile? Its the first contact since the letter saying it had arrived, Scan date 7/3@Pb12three not with this but with a similar application recently I had to send in certificate (birth and marriage) for myself as they were doing random id checks so might be that...was a pain!!!

baublewobble · 22/05/2023 23:16

I have had a txt today to. Scan date 22nd Feb. The longer it goes on the longer I feel my daughter won't get awarded. I don't feel like I filled the forms in well enough. Wish I got help now.

Nicole12345 · 22/05/2023 23:28

@clareykb i think it’s just a generic txt they send to people when they’ve had your claim for a while. It seems it’s nothing to do with it being with a DM. I called today again and it’s finally with a DM scan date 16/02 to give you a better idea of time frame. Some on here with similar/same date as my sons still not with a DM yet xx

clareykb · 22/05/2023 23:30

Thanks tbh wasn't expecting to hear anything for a few weeks anyway jus wondered as haven't had any texts before

We are at renewal stage. Does anyone know if the award increases, if the difference is backdated to the date they received the forms as it is when you first apply, or does the new amount just apply from the next payment after renewal date?

Just thought I'd answer my own question in case it helps anyone scrolling through.

I've my child's renewal info come through (2 days after the previous claim ended) and the rate has increased from middle to high, and has been backdated to January (when I sent the claim) so if you have renewal forms through and think there may be a change, get them sent back ASAP!

Due to current workload, they have also set up payments from my child's 5th birthday month which falls within this claim period, for low rate mobility as well, so no need for me to do anything after he's 5.

I sent off the forms for my son two weeks ago, so I m know we re looking at at least September for a decision, I just wondered do they always text people a scan date or is it worth me calling in a couple of weeks to confirm it was scanned on?

Nicole12345 · 23/05/2023 11:51

@1990shopefulftm I don’t know about a txt to say about a scan date I received a letter about a month after I sent it but you can also call and ask xx

Leahetea · 23/05/2023 14:35

Hi, Just posting to share my experience for others.
I had to use the DLA free post address so could let track application.
I didn’t get a letter confirming receipt for over a month (I called to check they had it after 3 weeks).
I got a text and letter at 10 weeks to say still processing.
Today I had money in my account, so fantastic, I’ve been approved but not confirmed letter or text yet.
I was given a start date of 15.02.23, so hopefully others at around that date will hear soon. All the best, such a long process to endure. Take care everyone, you’re all amazing and we need all the help we can get xxx

Orangemop · 23/05/2023 15:50

Anybody waiting on renewal been awarded yet, my current claim ends on 31st may and not heard anything as yet

upthewallmumof3 · 23/05/2023 17:32

ClareN82 · 23/05/2023 17:40

Mines thee 2nd and nothing 😩

Orangemop · 23/05/2023 17:41

@ClareN82 2nd of may or June?

Orangemop · 23/05/2023 17:42

@upthewallmumof3 so frustrating the closer it’s getting my anxiety about it all is going through the roof

ClareN82 · 23/05/2023 17:43

@Orangemop 2nd of June, they've had it since 2nd feb, when i last called was still in a queue to be looked at.

Orangemop · 23/05/2023 17:49

Do you think it’s worth leaving it another week and then me calling cos it will be due to run out the next day I’m just unsure what to do it’s disheartening to ring to be told no decision all the time

TiredOfCleaning · 23/05/2023 18:06

Update here, I took all my docs to the jobcentre and they said; 'oooh! We have never seen a letter like that before!'. They took all the photocopies and certified them and I was in and out within minutes and they were all lovely. For some reason I just expected the side eye and pursed lips. It's taken me 8 years to apply for DLA since DS was first diagnosed and pretty much all of that was due to a sense that we would be stigmatised and shamed.

ClareN82 · 23/05/2023 18:57

@Orangemop , im going to ring next week, a couple of days before and just hope for the best, the anxiety is killing me.
