You don’t need a diagnosis to claim dla

Alex900 · 18/04/2023 17:34

@Leigh3 I thought the exact same which is why I applied. I have been encouraged by everywhere else to apply barring by her today

Leigh3 · 18/04/2023 18:23

Some people we speak with don’t want to be helpful at all, I was also advised to apply for my son because of his additional needs with it being trauma related.

ERG123 · 18/04/2023 18:49

Can’t believe it people with scan dates after mine have gone to DM, think I’ll call again tomorrow

Leigh3 · 18/04/2023 19:07

Would be interesting to know what order they are doing it as I think Someone yesterday got awarded with the scan date 19/12 I believe it was because I originally mis read it and thought it was of the jan. and then someone from 17/01 🙃

Quackajack · 18/04/2023 19:36

Hi everyone I've been watching the thread for a while. My scan date for ds is 19th Jan so hopefully will hear soon, also waiting on a renewal for dd due 10th May.

Daisymum18 · 18/04/2023 19:52

I discovered today that I've got my time line all wrong thought I was further on in the wait than I actually am I thought it was 11 weeks but it's actually 10wks and 2days 🙈😂 I'm going to call may1st as that will be 12 wks assuming it's unlikely I'll have heard anything by then as it appears they are only just getting through claims from Dec + Jan has anyone with a SD in Feb heard anything ?

Anskl · 19/04/2023 00:13

I finally got through to someone on the phone day after ringing bang on 9am when the lines opened. My scan date was 8th March, my DD's current award ends 24th April. I was told that my claim hasn't been assessed yet but it had been pushed to first priority to be assessed before 24th so there won't be a gap without money.

It seems with renewal claims it matters less when you submitted the form, and more when the current award is due to expire. New claims, however, are assessed in the order they are received which is why some people who applied in November are still awaiting a decision.

Daisymum18 · 19/04/2023 09:22

Calling at 9am on the dot and been on hold 19mins already sure they can see who's calling as so many saying their call answered more or less straight away

Don't forget 1st is a bank holiday.

Daisymum18 · 19/04/2023 09:31

Oh poop I did forget I got through it's in que to be seen by dm no decision made yet currently 10wks +3

Mum2two7 · 19/04/2023 09:52

Well if this isn't a example of how some are incredibly unhelpful people 😅
Got told Start this week it was with DM, however didn't think to ask when it went to DM so chased it this morning to see when it went to DM. The woman didn't want to give anything away it seems she just said "decision hasn't been made can take up to 15 weeks" so we said "when did it go to DM." as we know from our last phone call its with them her response "they typically go to DM on week 13" 🙈 if she's that helpful at start of day can only imagine her tolerance at the end of the day.

MrsB113 · 19/04/2023 09:56

I manged to get through this morning too. No decision yet and advising 15 weeks.
They must have received alot of claims mid January

MrsB113 · 19/04/2023 09:59

The lady I spoke to was just as helpful, wouldn't tell me if it had gone to a dm just said no Decision and they will write to you.

Lodol · 19/04/2023 10:08

I just spoke to someone she said it’s still with a DM (6 days) and a decision should be made soon

advised of no notes on the system to say waiting for information and I should know by day 7/8

Daisymum18 · 19/04/2023 10:37

The times are changing so much only last Wednesday I was told 13weeks this week another 2 weeks have been added but I wasn't told how long it could take just it's in a que waiting to be seen by a DM well at first he said it's waiting to be looked at by a DM and I got excited and said oh its with a DM he said well it's in the que waiting to be looked at I'm not sure if that means it's been assigned to a DM or just still sat in the system ... I'd love to know what order claims get looked at if any when you look on the gov website it makes it seem as though your claim gets looked at once it's received no where does it say once your claim is received it gets put in a system then into a que and assessed at our leisure 🙈 so when you get the text they are still looking in reality it's not been looked at the text is a polite way of saying they haven't forgot it's in a que with 100s of other claims and they will get to yours when they get to yours stop calling

Daisymum18 · 19/04/2023 10:40

How long have you been waiting upto now hun

Lodol · 19/04/2023 12:16

Yeah they said it’s on the dms pile so I wonder if there’s another backlog they have to clear before getting to the application as some people seem to be looked at the day it’s assigned to a dm

my scan date was 19/01 so 13 weeks tomorrow

Jay53 · 19/04/2023 12:20

19/1 for me also but not yet with a DM. Told me another 2-4 weeks before that happens Shock

Lodol · 19/04/2023 12:33

It seems to have slown down again unless some areas are quicker than others?
someone yesterday said it can be with a dm for a few weeks today she said it’s about 7 days for a decisiom
you don’t get the same answer twice when ringing lol

Leigh3 · 19/04/2023 14:26

This week I’m on a major go slow. It’s only just dawned on me that in the original claim I sent off I said I was waiting for an assessment (NHS) but since then I’ve decided to give up waiting for the NHS as I was told that the pathway (scaas) is from birth - 11 years in which my daughter is turning this year so we are now going private and she will be assessed in May do I need to update dla with that?

Lodol · 19/04/2023 16:20

So in complete shock!!
just been told I’ve been awarded mrc and lrm until January 2025

for others to know she does not yet have a diagnosis assessments due to explore potential brain damage but also has traits of ADHD, ADD & autism I sent in a senco letter and two pages of additional information I did provide recent information of a bladder diagnosis of small bladder capacity & urge incontinence

Lodol · 19/04/2023 16:25

I had a missed call from 0800 so I rang this afternoon, they said they didn’t call so it must have been a sales call but then she said oh they’ve made a decision!
she advised of rates and back payment including next payment date etc

fingers crossed yours is awarded asap!

megan345 · 19/04/2023 16:31
