DLA Wait Times Part 9 (2023)

Thought it was time for a new thread :)

@exampleeleven this is my first renewal, I have no idea 🤷🏻‍♀️ .. I’m praying my son gets awarded again and stays the same rate but I’m not sure how it all works to be honest .. I’ll probs ring up again on the 17th or 20th March that’s two week before my claims due to end. X

I am a scan date of 21/11 - still waiting and from the looks of things at least another month to go? Has anyone from November had a decision yet? Really hoping I don't end up in MR territory!

Mines been with DM for 2 weeks. Scan date 9/11 so Nov is getting there. My son has severe light sensitivity and glare that can leave him unable to see properly. he can't make out objects in sun light. I have heard other people have been awarded for similar eye conditions but I have a feeling they will say no. The school wrote a letter for me but didn't really explain about the care he needs just what they have done to help him. I'll keep u all posted

@AdhdMumOf3 maybe it’s time to go above her head again, isn’t there anyone at the school who knows your child to speak to them?

@Snickerdoodles19 ive got a meeting this week with regional director and the operations manager in which I'll be making another complaint about how useless the sendco is x

@AdhdMumOf3 yes most definitely make a complaint, she shouldn’t be doing the job if she isn’t willing to put the time and effort in to helping the kids get what they need

My scan date is 29 November and when I called up this morning he told me that it was in a holding queue and I was looking at another 4 weeks so the week beginning the 20th March. It seems to be taking forever .......

I’ve seen people on the fb group from 10-15th November being awarded now. I’m not sure I can ring really as I don’t have time to be waiting an hour for the phone to be answered when I work every day.

I just called took me about 40 minutes to get through still no decision made been with the dm around 10 days now am getting such bad anxiety over it now especially seeing so many people being awarded after my date just want this wait to be over now

@AdhdMumOf3 hi so just thought I would let you know I’ve just had a call from the deputy head teacher and she said that they don’t see any problems with Macario so as it’s conflicting the evidence I’ve sent in I will probably be declined, she then said that just because his old Senco and educational psychologist picked up that he may have Asperger’s don’t mean they are right and if I have to appeal DLA then maybe go to someone that know my son better 🤬😢 she gave me her number and asked that I pass it on to the DM as she will be the only person to talk to him, they are useless and I don’t hold out much hope x

@Macariosmummy thars horrendous how can the school possibly say that if he is in the process of being assessed

It really is! That takes me to the 15th March - I posted it on 14th November!

@Snickerdoodles19 i have no idea it boggles my mind tbh, they even done a referral for an ASD assessment so he is now on the pathway for that. I don’t know what to do about it but I do know that I will fight for my son to get the support he needs and I mean beyond DLA, he needs support in school but if they are saying he is fine that means they are not going to give him that 😢 I am going to look into getting him into a new school I think x

I’m sure you can make an official complaint to the education board as they aren’t providing your son with a satisfactory education and giving him the help that he needs, without school’s involvement and agreement it’s going to make it very difficult for you regarding help and diagnosis

@Macariosmummy ohh that's awful I'm. So sorry your having to go through all this :( honestly so many schools don't see the signs and just fob you off I really am crossing everything the dm looks at your evidence and gives you what your child deserves x

@AdhdMumOf3 thank you, I don’t know if the DM will look at the educational psychologist report and see what she said and see that I’m not just making things up and not just go by what the head teacher that don’t know him says 🤷🏽‍♀️ x

It might be worth contacting your local advice and support service for SEND

@Macariosmummy how can someone who doesnt no your child have such big input. I haven't even sent the Ed psych report because our school still haven't given me a copy but surely the dm will look at that seen as it comes from. Someone more qualified than the head x

@AdhdMumOf3 youe legally entitled to a copy of that, ask them for it

@AdhdMumOf3 i did think the the Ed psyc would be more qualified than a teacher/ head so that’s all I can hope for at the min 🤞🏽

I have just called to check if they have my extra information they are saying I am on week 11 and should go do DM around the end of April

@Snickerdoodles19 ive just asked for it when I've done pick up but the office said senco had it and I'm probably gonna be waiting a few months haha nothing shocks me with this school.

@Macariosmummy if it's the worst outcome I would put that in the mandatory reconsideration because ahead doesn't hold the same weight as an Ed psych hopefully it doesnr come to that though x

@AdhdMumOf3 i am just going to see what happens but as you said if I do get declined I will defo do a MR x

@AdhdMumOf3 I’d be pushing for it to be given to you if not just tell them you are going to put a access to data request in for all the information on your child
