Anyone know how long Carers allowance is taking... I put my claim in 1st Nov, have emailed receipt but nothing more.

Hey so I finally got awarded. And I get the back payment Tuesday! So I let universal credit know and they said she’s now entitled to disability element and that’ll be backdated from when I claimed… does anyone here know how long that takes? Sorry we are like poooor so all the pennies really can help.

Neikz · 20/02/2023 06:14

Scan date 28/11
12 weeks today first claim my 6month old was diagnosed with sickle cell disease from birth.

harjinder01 · 20/02/2023 09:20

Beccaot hi if u dnt mind wat is the scan date plz soo good

Natasha1994 · 20/02/2023 09:28

Hello if you don’t mind me asking what was your scan date ? Mines 22/11 and when I call there telling me all diffrent weeks it’s currently taking thankyou

Natasha1994 · 20/02/2023 09:29

My scan dates 22/11 and it’ll be 14 weeks this week and still no further forward still waiting for a decision maker to pick it up Apperntly

Beccaot · 20/02/2023 09:31

@Natasha1994 @harjinder01 my scan date was 17/10 😩 it took over 17 weeks

Mummalouxx · 20/02/2023 09:33

I’m sure every person you speak to from different call centres tell you different, the man on Friday told me the decision maker had been given it and that a decision will be made in the next few days and to call Monday as they are working all weekend. Spoke to a really snotty lady today who told me that the decision maker won’t pick up the pack until at least 15 weeks and to call back in 2 weeks 😴🙄

Natasha1994 · 20/02/2023 09:39

I agree and you would think the people on the phone are paying the children’s dla out of there own pockets the way they speak and treat you on the phone it’s appalling x

Natasha1994 · 20/02/2023 09:41

I’m right there with you same date as me fingers crossed we’re not waiting much longer I can’t possibly call that call centre again to be spoke to like I’m a peice of muck on there shoes

harjinder01 · 20/02/2023 09:50

I do think sometime is when DM taking time off or sick take long for some

VickieC86 · 20/02/2023 10:12

Called them this morning still not with a decision maker could be another week as it’s taking 15mins

AdhdMumOf3 · 20/02/2023 10:15

Little update, the dm wanted to speak with school senco so couldn't make a decision until then, I recieved an email from school this morning saying its school policy to not fill the forms in which I didn't ask them to, and it's also a gesture of goodwill to deal with dla but at this time they can't speak to them, not sure what really happens now and the lady at dla didn't no either. Honestly school make the easiest thing hard.. Wrote this on the old thread so adding it here too xx

Lostatsea10 · 20/02/2023 10:27

I’m sorry to hear that @AdhdMumOf3 sounds like they’re making it harder than it needs to be for no reason!

Brown2010 · 20/02/2023 11:03

@exampleeleven ive phoned and apparently they won’t look at your renewal until a week or two before your award is due to end .. my award ends 31st March so I still have quite a wait x

exampleeleven · 20/02/2023 11:24

@Brown2010 thank you for the info. Interesting.

Does that mean they don't anticipate a gap in payments?.....or that they do?!!

Macariosmummy · 20/02/2023 11:42

@AdhdMumOf3 hi I am in the same boat, so the DM tried to call Senco 1st Feb and was told to call the head teacher so he tried to do that 10th Feb but wasn’t able to get hold of them, kids have gone back to school today after half term so I’m hoping DM can talk to head teacher today although I know the head teacher don’t know my son 🤷🏽‍♀️ heres to hoping we both get a decision this week 🤞🏽 we are awarded what our children are entitled to x

aqua05 · 20/02/2023 11:42

Award ends 5/3. Rang today and was told decision made 18/2 and son remains on mrc which is a relief. So son's decision was made 2 weeks before award due to end. Good luck to everyone still waiting and hopefully you guys hear something soon

JJS1984 · 20/02/2023 11:43

I’m 3/11 so approaching week 16 in a couple of days I obviously got in the slow pile hahaha just got to keep the faith I guess

Natasha1994 · 20/02/2023 11:46

How long did you wait ?

AdhdMumOf3 · 20/02/2023 11:47

@Macariosmummy ohh I'm crossing everything for you.. Its such a shame that schools don't want to help out to make a long process any easier for us, like we don't have enough on our plates as it is, my school have said they're not going to speak to dla at all so I really don't no where it goes from here now for us

Natasha1994 · 20/02/2023 11:48

Oh god it’s a joke isn’t it everytime I phone I get told a diffrent time scale my older son was awarded in covid and it didn’t take this long it’s crazy

Macariosmummy · 20/02/2023 11:54

@AdhdMumOf3 I really don’t understand why they won’t talk to DLA to answer any questions the DM may have like what’s the harm in that 🤬 I have everything crossed for you too maybe the DM can make a decision on your claim with the evidence you sent in x

AdhdMumOf3 · 20/02/2023 11:56

@Macariosmummy me and the senco really don't get on, I often go above her to the head or the regional director, recently did this to get my son seen by Ed psych and I think she's a bit butt hurt by that so won't do anything to make life easier for me haha.. Positive vibes for us both xx

Macariosmummy · 20/02/2023 12:06

@AdhdMumOf3 well she obviously isn’t doing her job properly if you’re having to go over Senco head, the school my son goes to are useless their Senco don’t seem to care and neither does his teacher which is a shame as the last school he went to was so helpful and couldn’t do enough to accommodate his needs 😢 x
