Hi guys,

I’m confused. Called today, awarded mrc and lrm yesterday til October 2024 (scan date 12/10/22). Does that mean my award date is actually back in October? Is just for my child tax credits, the guys told me they pay from the date you were awarded but in theory, is that not October?

Honeypie91 · 23/01/2023 19:54

12 weeks waiting today scan date 31/10
praying it goes to the dm next week as I was told it would be 🤞🏼

SENMum92 · 23/01/2023 20:30

My DD sounds to have very similar mannerisms as your child and my scan date was the 17/10 today I rang to be told that it was with the decision maker. Not only a few hours after I received a message to say that my DD claim qualifies for DLA. I obviously don’t know at what rate but I hope this information helps. I am still undergoing the process with CAHMMS my DD is undiagnosed x

I sent in a few reports from the educational physic and also SFP plans I had from my DD school. Which have been in place since she was in Reception year she's now in Year 2. I don't as yet have an ECHP in place. Obviously you'll know yourself it's a long process and I don't think Covid has helped and caused a lot of push backs especially with gathering evidence for a CAHMMS referral. Also I told them all the information I could about daily struggles and my DDs teacher also gave a statement x

jesskay · 23/01/2023 21:36

That’s great to hear. I couldn’t get a statement from the school it’s useless where he goes. I had the adhd nurse coming into school last week to observe my son as he getting worse. The school told me the nurse cancelled it. When the lovely called me today to rebook she let me know the school cancelled it due to them having a longer than usual assembly so it would not work with my son 😡 x

MadmamMi · 23/01/2023 21:52

Thank you lovely!

Cody3 · 23/01/2023 22:28

I rang this morning, been 19 weeks on Friday for change of circumstances for mobility can’t get an update as there’s still 3-4 weeks left but lady was lovely.

Not sure if this will help others if your claiming for mobility if you get lower rate it will be backdated from 5th birthday (my son just turned 5’ so makes sense to me)
and for higher rate mobility will get back dated from your scan date x

Chantelle28 · 24/01/2023 07:47

@MadmamMi did you print off the forms?
Or did you call and if you called did you return them before the date stamped on the form ? If you did you need to call and let them know it happed with my first child on DLA they made a mistake and didn't back date it to call even though they received it before the date they couldn't change the award dates but they did send the extra 6 weeks I was missing

That is really poor from the school especially when they see your child on a daily basis. I don't think there is anyone better to go to. I didn't waste my time with doctors as last time I spoke to them in 2020 they would not do a referral as they said it would just get thrown out and it's better to come from a school background as they can build more appropriate evidence 🤷🏻‍♀️ my fingers are crossed for you that you receive a decision soon and that you get the result you want x

jesskay · 24/01/2023 08:17

Me to. Since my son was diagnosed back when he was 6 I only ever go to his ped never the doctor so would be pointless writing to them 🤣. Fingers crossed its did everyone awaiting an answer x

jesskay · 24/01/2023 09:25

Just called still no update. Apparently they have a week from when it hits their desk! So they have today and tomorrow to make a decision. It’s so frustrating the guy I spoke to was so rude on the phone . He said it’s only been 13 weeks but it’s actually 14 weeks tomorrow . I am losing hope with this 😭😢

Squishy1911 · 24/01/2023 09:28

@jesskay thats the problem with schools now if they don’t agree with what your saying or if they think your child is doing ok it’s then that you have a real battle to try and get a diagnosis and the help that they need, I fought for 4 years to get my son diagnosed all because his school were wording everything incorrectly and making it sound like he was a bubbly and energetic child instead of the classic adhd symptoms, the senco at my sons school is absolutely amazing though I cannot fault her she’s has gone above and beyond to help me with him.

Linzcee · 24/01/2023 09:30

Morning my scan date was 14/10 and was awarded higher rate care and lower rate mobility for my son on 20/1 only found out because I rand them yesterday they did say payment was to be made yesterday but still haven't received anything does anyone have a rough guidance how long they waited after being awarded for payment

jesskay · 24/01/2023 09:30

Luckily my son has been diagnosed since 6 years old with ADHD but not asd that’s going through now. It’s a struggle with everything fighting for what our kids deserve it’s draining .

Linzcee · 24/01/2023 09:32

@jesskay if it makes you feel better I had no information from the school only sent in his diagnosis letter and answered the question didn't add his medication etc either as when I filled the form in he was still waiting for an app and was awarded hrc and lrm he has adhd severe anxiety and anger problems

Squishy1911 · 24/01/2023 09:36

@jesskay yeah my son was diagnosed when he was 8 but should have been done a lot sooner so his school work has suffered and he’s way behind now due to it, my eldest son was diagnosed when he was 3.5 with autism he’s now 12, asd diagnosis was really in-depth back then is it still the same now?

Squishy1911 · 24/01/2023 09:50

@jesskay @Linzcee what are your kids like with their appetite when they’ve had their meds?

jesskay · 24/01/2023 09:51

Yes still the same for ASD. It’s such a long wait, our ped has marked my sons as urgent but still heard nothing since his appointment in October. X

jesskay · 24/01/2023 09:54

he doesn’t eat or drink much at all! I’m not sure how he survives if I’m honest. It’s a battle

Squishy1911 · 24/01/2023 09:54

I think the waiting list for the nhs is crazy at the minute, even educational psychologists are at least 6+ months wait, fingers crossed your not waiting much longer for appointment

Squishy1911 · 24/01/2023 09:57

It’s awful isn’t it, I’ve got to the point where I calorie count for my son to make sure he’s getting enough inside him, he’s always been more of a grazer and doesn’t do big meals, some days I have to beg him to eat and it’s so upsetting

Linzcee · 24/01/2023 10:23

@Squishy1911 my son before medication would eat everything and constantly he is on 1 tablet a day 30mg ... he will not eat in morning or lunch at school or dinner when ready but come about 7ish he will act like he hasn't ate in a year and demolish his food he is in medikinect... his sleeping has improved aswell slightly he was very aggy at first on medication but he's fine now bar eating until later .. and I've noticed a massive improvement in himself with his anger etc
