CharlotteSL20 · 18/01/2023 22:49

Hi all, just found this thread whilst searching fo renewal wait times! I sent my sons renewal signed delivery and it was recieved by them 03:00 16/01, stupidly i sent it so late as completely forgot about it over december/christmas and his claim ended on the 17/01 !
I got a random payment on the 17th, after being paid DLA on 03/01 ... does anyone know what this could be for?
And also, have i screwed myself over sending it so late, it really worries me :/
Thank you!

CMVB · 19/01/2023 06:06

CharlotteSL20 If you get the chance I would ring them and ask about the random payment and also about when your claim is likely to be looked at. Ours was due to end the same date as yours and was renewed on 05/01 they are working through them about 2 weeks before they’re due to run out. Not sure what would happen if it was received one day before it was due to run out but it might go through as a new claim possibly? I would definitely ring them to clarify what will happen

GirlmumTN · 19/01/2023 07:01

Morning girls today I received payment finally 🙏 and even though I'm chuffed I'm disappointed it's only middle rate! Has anyone been awarded higher rate for a child just turned 3 for ASD

Cody3 · 19/01/2023 07:05

@GirlmumTN id probably be thankful that it got accepted and you got middle rate, there’s parents on here that have been rejected and there child needs middle or high rate care, sorry not to be harsh but at least you got something, not always as simple for others

GirlmumTN · 19/01/2023 07:33

As much as I get what your saying and I really do hope they get the award they deserve once their claims are relooked. I can be just as gutted that my daughter didn't get the award she does deserves. We're all fighting to get the best for our kids!

CMVB · 19/01/2023 07:49

GirlmumTN Yes when my son was 3 he was awarded HRC with ASD but he’s also profoundly deaf, epileptic and has GDD and is completely non-verbal still at 5. Sorry that you didn’t get the award you wanted, will you appeal? Did you send in plenty of evidence and include as much information as possible? I think I wrote about 4 extra pages of our nighttime routine and our paediatrician had mentioned our nighttime struggles in their reports and we had prescriptions for melatonin etc. I think it can be really hard to get HRC for young children, I think it depends on the DM as I’ve heard of a few claims being rejected because they think children so young wake in the night even if they don’t have extra difficulties. I think to qualify for HRC its all about what extra help they need in the night X

My eldest daughter has always had hrc and my youngest asd is significantly worse so that was the shock and I know they say younger children are harder to qualify because all 3 year olds need care! I think I may wait till she's five and it needs renewal! Mayve I didn't give enough evidence of the nightly struggles we have.

Dawn4444 · 19/01/2023 09:11

@GirlmumTN my child is 2.5 with asd. There is no way in this world that I would expect them to award high rate care for a child under 3. As you stated every child needs care under 3 so you should be grateful you was awarded anything at all in fairness, plenty of family have been declined for children much older than this with ASD. Please just appreciate what you have been awarded 😊

Lucypops · 19/01/2023 09:13

Scan date 10/10, just called. Confirmed my claim has been allocated but no decision. Was told they are work though 32,000 claims and wait time is now 13-16 weeks. Called at 09:00, got straight through. Lucy x

MyBBGaremylife · 19/01/2023 09:20

17th october with a decision maker! Should hear in a few days! Man on phone was amazing and helpfull!

CharlotteSL20 · 19/01/2023 09:34

Thank you! I'm on hold to them now, so will see what they say!

Squishy1911 · 19/01/2023 09:51

My eldest is autistic he’s almost 12 and he still doesn’t sleep but won’t take melatonin in liquid or tablet form as he is physically sick just at the sight of any type of medication so it’s an absolute nightmare he probably has around 4/5 hours a night if I’m lucky, he thinks it’s acceptable to play with his toys or electronics in the early hours of the morning then he wakes at 5 most mornings, I remember when he broke his leg when he was 7 he had no pain relief at all due to how he is that was a hoot let me tell ya. So between my 2 sons and having to make sure they are both ok at night I have around 4 hours sleep.

Just got off the phone with them and they have said its marked as recieved on 16/01! (would this be what everyone refers to as the scan date?)
The man was lovely and he did say as it was recieved before the claim ended it should be a renewal not a new claim, that it will be a couple of weeks, and as the award ended it should also just carry on from when this award ended. So fingers crossed xx

Christinaja · 19/01/2023 10:51

Any news guys? What is the latest date they have worked up to
Scan date 24th October

Chaz5rascals · 19/01/2023 11:38

@GirlmumTN it sounds like we have a bit in common, ASD 3 year old here too! I think some of the comments to you have been a little harsh as they’ve said you should be grateful without even knowing what you and your DD go through! From my experience not every child needs the care my boy needs even as young as 3!

Chantelle28 · 19/01/2023 13:08

@Christinaja I have seen people on here and on the FB group say there 17 and 18 with dm

Dawn4444 · 19/01/2023 13:19

Sorry I don't want to come across as rude. My son is almost 3 yrs asd. He struggles in every area. He is completely non verbal can not communicate at all has no understanding what so ever. Daily struggle with eating/sleeping every aspect of his life we struggle, I believe middle rate is more than fair for these needs. I have a friend who child is tube feed He can't walk/talk wheel chair bound he cant even lift his head. I thank my self lucky tbh. This is how I look at it just my view.
