A new thread for those waiting on DLA claims as the other one was rather full. @girlmum25

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Mumof2boys22 · 20/10/2022 20:10

Hi long time reader here. Scan date 18th July my son has been awarded I got a text this evening. I rang this morning and was told it will be looked at Monday so my advice is to just sit and wait as they don't tell you the correct information.

shaz7788 · 20/10/2022 23:14

Scan date 4th july got told today my child given middle rate care wasn't given full care rate as he doesn't need intervention at night even though he was given medication from peadriatics for sleep and has development delay so given in a mandotry reconsidration

Cass29 · 20/10/2022 23:18

@Mkd1322 no nothing yet x

Mumof3premies · 21/10/2022 06:09

Does anyone have any idea how long it takes for uc to authorise back pay for the disability element?

Jhtm · 21/10/2022 07:30

@Mumof3premies I told them about my daughter DLA claim on Tuesday so I’m just waiting now, heard it takes a few weeks but I don’t know x

sadiekt21 · 21/10/2022 07:37

I'm 5th August too! Getting anxious but think it will be looked at in the next two weeks judging by the dates x

dandymum · 21/10/2022 11:23

16th august, worked out based on wait times on here it’ll be 22nd November(ish) we have an answer x

Jodie751 · 21/10/2022 11:28

Hi, I’ve never posted before but wondered if any of you would be able to help me. We’re new claimants, we sent the forms off just over two weeks ago, I called today to ask if they’d got them and she said they hadn’t and to call back next week. I’m just wondering if this is normal and how long it took for them to receive other peoples forms? I’m just panicking they won’t get them and we’ll have to fill all the forms out again.

Mummyof2girlys · 21/10/2022 11:56

I waited 2 weeks to phone to see if they had gotten my girls application (actually rang on the date it was meant to be back for) I posted 22nd aug an they scanned it in 26th of aug. Only been 8 weeks for us today so still a very long wait 😬 I’d definitely phone back on Monday because surely it can’t take that long. But there have been a lot of postal strikes so this could be holding things up.

Mummyof2girlys · 21/10/2022 11:58

@Jodie751 how awful are the forms to fill in I dread the days I have to do them all again. I’m just hoping we get accepted but not holding my breath honestly it’s a new claim for us.

Jodie751 · 21/10/2022 12:08

@Mummyof2girlys thank you for replying! Yes they’re awful to fill in, I dread the thought of having to do them again. I’m hoping it’s just the strikes that has affected it but it’s been over two weeks since I posted them. I’ll call back Monday, though the lady that I spoke to today makes me not want to, she was very snappy and seemed annoyed that I’d even called them. I can’t believe how long it takes for them to get done, hopefully you won’t be waiting too long and you will get accepted.

Mummyof2girlys · 21/10/2022 14:09

@Jodie751 tells you on the gov site it takes 8 weeks but I’m presuming there very back-logged. Iv only ever rang once to check they had it befor the 6 weeks was up for the claim.
I intend on phoning at least weekly once we get to 12 weeks. Both my girls are ASD and iv applied for my 2 yr old who is severe. I will be applying for my 3 yr old after Xmas once I have supporting statements from various 3rd party’s. She’s never had any delays, unless my 2 yr old who still has no speech, communication or understanding. But my 3 yr old has quite bad sensory problems and she’s definitely been regression since starting nursery 5 weeks ago. It is so rough it really is. Luckily iv sent quite a lot of evidence for this claim but won’t be the case when we try for my 3 yr old unfortunately.
did you send much supporting info?

dandymum · 21/10/2022 14:31

@Jodie751 i posted mine 2nd august and recieved a letter 19th august saying they got my forms on the 16th

KodaS · 21/10/2022 14:36

I am on week 12 of waiting they have told me it would be between 12-15 weeks of waiting. I sent it in the 15 July and wasn’t scanned in until 27th July 😭 xx

Mummyof2girlys · 21/10/2022 14:47

@KodaS definitely wasn’t postal strikes back in July. Mine took 4 days to reach them. Where do they go to? Sorry I don’t know where the place is. Maybe I live closer I really don’t know. I know we are all fed up with such long wait times.

Kits45 · 21/10/2022 14:47

I would deffo recommend sending it special delivery I sent mine on the 21st of July the scan date was the 22nd so 1 day it was definitely worth it knowing it got there safely was alot less worry 👍

alwaysonthegomum · 21/10/2022 14:47

@KodaS im same date as you and the wait is enough to drive you crazy. I did ring Wednesday and they told me should be with DM next week at latest if that helps

KodaS · 21/10/2022 14:53

@alwaysonthegomum really! Okay that’s great thanks !! Mine was a renewal but I missed the cut off date as never ever received the renewal letter so I’ve had to start with a whole new form and they stopped my sons payment in June so been a very long 4 months. let’s hope not to much longer. I’ve sent further information in today but just used the free post address as seems to just get there same time
xx

KodaS · 21/10/2022 14:56

@Mummyof2girlys maybe down to post as I never ever received the renewal they sent me in jan and then apparently another letter with rate changed in April. I honestly don’t think they post half of it and think whatever systems they have it’s not very good as half the stuff gets there xxx

alwaysonthegomum · 21/10/2022 14:57

@KodaS i think I feel more anxious knowing a decision will be made soon.
I called today and asked them to note down more information as I’ve been updated from school that his support had had to be increased to someone with him constantly throughout the day. So hopefully will hear something soon and good news at that xx

Thehonestbadger · 21/10/2022 15:02

Sent ours on 19/10 - tried to send special delivery but couldn’t as didn’t have the actual address just the free post address and the post office was manic. Concerned now that it’ll take forever to be scanned.

How many weeks roughly is it taking atm?

alwaysonthegomum · 21/10/2022 15:03

@Thehonestbadger it can take up to 2 weeks to be scanned in and then their saying roughly 13 weeks before it reaches decision maker

Thehonestbadger · 21/10/2022 15:04

Ah that’s awful can’t believe it’s so long!

KodaS · 21/10/2022 15:05

@alwaysonthegomum Hopefully I have my fingers crossed for you! I will be happy with MR LR as I got previous. My son has adhd and vocal tics which are really bad at the minute they have worsened since high school. He’s now 12 still cannot sleep and needs a lot of support. Finally we are getting an ehcp to, lockdown didn’t help that situation. Xxx

Thehonestbadger · 21/10/2022 15:09

I just submitted for my son who is 2 but didn’t realise how long it’s taking. Just figured it out and we’ll probably be getting a response now about 4/5 weeks before he turns 3 will they take the mobility element into account in that case or will I literally get 4/5 weeks worth of DLA and then have to apply all over again to include mobility element?

I'm so confused
