Come and take my mind off it!

Suggest something indulgent we can do to distract ourselves.

any news today madcatsazz?

did the mantra work?!?

40+3...

Carikube · 20/05/2010 09:56

madcatsazz do let us know if the mantra works...

40+6 and not a twinge

LilyBolero · 20/05/2010 10:07

How is everyone? I'm 40+11, and tomorrow is D-Day. NO twinges or anything. Am hoping the mw will do a sweep today, because am booked for a homebirth. If I have to go in tomorrow, will be on my own, as dh can't be there (probably). So today and tonight is last chance saloon for this baby I think!

GoldenGreen · 20/05/2010 10:27

Am excited that madcatsazz hasn't posted yet this morning! Could it be?

40+5 today and have started to get resigned to this - woke up without the usual crushing sense of disappointment this morning. Hope you get your sweep today Lily and that it works.

Carikube · 20/05/2010 12:04

GoldenGreen I know what you mean - I've been on tenterhooks for days about whether this baby is coming whereas the past couple of days I've just been resigned to the fact that it's not, so I don't feel so disappointed, if that makes any sense....

madcatsazz · 20/05/2010 12:06

Bah - still no baby!!! I've just been taking the opportunity to lounge around this morning as no DD or DP about. Not even a twinge here either. Lily, got my fingers crossed for you.....of course, you could always just fail to turn up for the induction....?!

Mitford, feel free to comment, I think most of us have been commenting way before our EDDs.

GG, Carikube and Newmomma - keep those babies in until I've had mine!!

Well, I have reflexology booked for this afternoon and am feeling hopeful - I mean, I can't be pregnant forever right?

40+16

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 20/05/2010 16:27

Hello, suppose I should sign in here. 40+6 today and according to the imperious scribbles on my notes I have to ring the hospital tomorrow to arrange monitoring, scans and induction at 40+10.

Anyone else going to be trying everything they can to shift the little bugger this weekend?

first1 · 20/05/2010 21:18

I'm officially signing in here too. 40+3 today and got induction booked for next Friday at 40+11. Got reflexology booked over the weekend. Never had any sort of holistic treatment like it before, but hey I'm willing to give anything a go if it means baby arriving before induction day

madcatsazz · 21/05/2010 07:50

Morning all - checking in to say....still no baby!! Hi first, think we're chatting on other posts too but nice to see you signing in here too - I'm becoming a bit of a long term member

So, the reflexology didn't work although I had stacks of movement last night so I started to get hopeful....but alas it wasn't to be.

Off to the hospital this morning for more monitoring so will report back later. Hope all doing well and that there are lots of babies being born.

strawberrycake · 21/05/2010 08:31

40+2 today sigh

Am I unusual in my next appointment being at 40+6? Last was at 39. No mention of induction, or any contact in fact. Not that I'm moaning, it' nice to be pressure free. I've been very much left to it for the course of the pregnancy.

homebirthmummy4 · 21/05/2010 09:05

40 +1 today. dreading the weekend as forecast suggests 26degree heat and i dont do well in heat at best of times, the thought of labouring in it is tough!

newmomma · 21/05/2010 09:19

My MIL keeps teasing me about labouring in the scorching heat. That and being as fat as a whale and other various hilarious little comments...

Good luck for your induction today Lily - looking forward to hearing some news!

madcatsazz Any overnight news for you? Hope the monitoring goes well - perhaps something will happen before you manage to get to the hospital!

strawberry I think it is usual to have a 39 weeks appt and then a 41 week appt, and no 40 week appt if its your 2nd or subsequent baby.

first1 Am looking forward to hearing how your reflexology goes - perhaps I'll have it if its successful for you!! However, as we're due date buddies I'd consider it the height of rude behaviour for us to NOT have our LO's on the same day!

LilyBolero · 21/05/2010 09:25

Ds3 was born this morning at 5:30 am after a 4.5 hour labour, he weighs 10lb8 and is very gorgeous. I am shattered and feel done in! But v v happy to have avoided going into hospital.

Good luck everyone else!

first1 · 21/05/2010 09:30

madcatsazz OMG you're a saint!! 40+17?! You deserve a big gold medal!

james hope you get all your scans and induction sorted today.

newmomma hi again! I agree, keep your legs crossed until I'm ready lol. We'll do it together

newmomma · 21/05/2010 09:40

Congrats Lily!!!
Wonderful news

4.5 hour labour - I can only hope for the same!
Last chance saloon exactly.

So, come one - hoe did you do it?? Did you do anything different that you think might have triggered things to kick off normally?

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 21/05/2010 09:46

Congratulations lily, good weight, ouch!

All quiet here after a bit of a disastrous night. We haven't dtd in a while because I've had spd, decided to do it last night to try and shift the baby. Has there ever been a less sexy reason to have sex? Anyway it was a shambles (my fault) I wasn't in the mood at all, was utterly tense and kept thinking about labour pain, and eventually burst into tears because it was hurting a bit. Poor dp! Obviously I ruined it, and as we didn't finish it will have had no effect anyway.

I should add that I'm petrified of going into labour so I'm in the odd position of being overdue, fed up of being pregnant and having everyone wishing imminent and speedy labour on me while I just think "Waaaah, no!"

God I'll be so glad when this is all over.

Madcatsazz, I really feel for you. If it helps at all I know a lady who went to T+18 then went into labour naturally and had a lovely waterbirth.

homebirthmummy4 · 21/05/2010 10:28

congratulations lily

first1 · 21/05/2010 10:59

Congrats Lily!

HettyTurner · 21/05/2010 11:32

Congratulations lily!

Sweep yesterday was fine, and definitely more successful than last weeks. But, nothing since. Not a twinge... I'm getting induced tomorrow so it's my last chance for the homebirth today.

Decided that I couldn't wait, I'm so fed up and tierd. The midwives at the hospital are lovely and said that I can go in and change my mind at the last minute if I want to wait!

strawberrycake · 21/05/2010 14:58

typo in my post, meant 38 week appt, then 40+6. First baby.

Congratulations lily.

Madcatz, I admire you. By this point I would have cracked and run i shouting 'I don't care how you get it out!!!'

James, my dh offered sex, but I'm not sure if it's wise. I feel like an unsexy grumpy whale.

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 21/05/2010 17:36

Hello all, esp Sazz!

Am now 40 +9 and just been in for second sweep. The midwife did it rather than the obstetrician and it was much gentler and more thorough. Anyway, she said I was soft and anterior, does that mean I'm finally ready to go or is it silly to get my hopes up?
Am so desperate to get this show on the road (excuse the pun) as I am trying for a VBAC so have only managed to fend the dreaded C-section off until next Thursday. Need to get this baby out!

madcatsazz · 21/05/2010 18:59

Hi all - Congrats Lily, excellent news - I'm supremely jealous.

As usual, thanks to all for support. Been to the hospital again today for monitoring and had an excellent CTG trace with good heart rate, good accelerations and fetal movement. Even showed I was having a couple of braxton hicks - didn't think I was getting them but turns out the times I think LO is moving and really pushing on my uterus is actually tightenings! They did a scan too and the baby is good size but they did note reduced fluid and have asked me to go back tomorrow. I fear they will want me to bring forward the induction. I will speak to the consultant tomorrow and see where we go from here. I may have this baby by the end of weekend after all. Not sure how I feel about it all tbh. Don't want to put the baby at risk and at this stage, they're saying the baby is healthy (which I know by the fetal movements anyway) but we'll see. Oh, they also said baby is no longer engaged - head just resting above the cervix. 2 days ago she was 2/5 palpable so what does that mean? I swear this baby is moving backwards, not forwards!! I'm trying to look on the positive side and think that maybe she came out of engaged so she could reposition her head for a better labour....I know, I'm clutching at straws!

Sending labour vibes to you all. Oranges, hope you get your VBAC - fingers crossed.

James, I hope I'm like that lady you know - I would love a waterbirth

For all those considering DTD - I'm sure it does help if you are 'ready to go' anyway but I have managed to talk DP into it twice in the last week but it got us nowhere so don't fret if DP/DH won't do it. I truly think these babies only come when they want to - no matter how much we try to force them.

GoldenGreen · 21/05/2010 22:54

Sorry for me post but on iPhone and bf dd right now! Got home water birth lunchtime today but then rushed to hospital due to pph. Hope to be home tomorrow and will check in with you all then.

madcatsazz · 22/05/2010 00:55

Wow - congrats GG - sorry for pph, hope all is well now? Check in and let us know your story. For now, get rest and enjoy your LO.

LilyBolero · 22/05/2010 08:22

Congrats GG, and hope you are feeling better after the pph.

madcatsazz - good luck today with the consultant, unless you've had the baby already!
