Sorry for bad typing, am on the crappy patient line keyboard thing.

Tell you, when the human body doesn't want to labour its such a stubborn thing!

He'll be fine Nat, he won't have noticed the prostin malarky at all. And once your body clicks - it'll be grand. Such a boring tedious uncomfortable thing, being induced. Can you deliver by tonight please as I am on long day tommorrow so need to sleep. Ta x

stripeywoollenhat · 27/12/2008 18:30

nj - fingers crossed it'll kick in for you soon and the little guy will be out long before the morning

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 27/12/2008 18:42

they wont do the drip untilthe waters have broken andnothings happened after that.

i dont think hes in a good position at all, all the pain is inmy back and bum, so much pressure, but i get a really strong pain, then about a miinute later one not so strong, and a minute after that another very weak short one, then nothing for five mins or so. never had a labour likeit.

Hi, NJ, never spoken to you before, I don't think, but I just wanted to say, I have been induced twice and walking really, really can help to get things going. With dc4 I paced and paced, encouraged by the midwives, pushing a drip stand, fortified every now and again by a couple of those fruit sugar energy sweets, and things got going very quickly. Can you do that? Didn't half take my mind off things, too!

MatNanPlusTINSEL · 27/12/2008 18:50

Time to hit the stairs NJ and see if you can help your litttle man along.

Astarte · 27/12/2008 18:50

So did they say whether you're dilating at all Nat?

How many hours do they let you go before giving it up? It seems like a long time to leave things really, but I've no experience of induction....

I have just had a little chuckle at the fact that we're a 160 posts in and there's still the question "Am I in labour?" to be answered.
Only you Nat can do threads like this . Chin up babe, he'll be in your arms soon x

debbsyandsonne · 27/12/2008 18:53

Maybe she's mumsneting behind the curtains?

They might not examine you now, if your having any uterine activity. Until it is 100% quite or you are in rip roaring labour - but hopefully there will be no need as you'll be fast and straightforward once kick off happens!

debbsyandsonne · 27/12/2008 19:15

lol im ok filed for divorce but ok under the circumstances
hang on in there babe xx

lauraloolajinglesalltheway · 27/12/2008 19:17

LOL at the snorter!

Just wait, when your labour gets going you can tell her what for and not worry about it!!

I hope it all goes well

keels26 · 27/12/2008 19:30

Good luck Nat hope all goes well for you. Sympathy to you on the snorer, had one just like it after I had dd last year. She would snore her head of all night long, while her baby would keep waking up crying, she slept on oblivious. In the morning used to hear her on the phone telling everyone that the baby had slept straight through while the other babies on the ward kept crying! Anyway good luck xx

Hi NJ

Have been keeping a watch on this thread and thought it was about time I added my support.

Sounds like you are labouring like I did with my boys (both posterior) both erratic contractions of varying strength and duration. Good news is that after all that the pushing stage was really quick and easy - they just took their time to get into the right position and once they did it was all systems go.

Have to second those that have suggested walking. Couldn't with DS1 as continuously monitored, but stayed upright and active with DS2 and things took off a lot quicker - ended up being a dream of a labour only with a slow start.

Good luck, hope things get going really soon.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 27/12/2008 20:12

Hi Nat, just checking in to see where you are at.. sending loads of luck and wagon xmas choccies to keep you going

THinking of you xx

kayzr · 27/12/2008 20:16

Hey Nat! Sorry he isn't here yet. Wishing you a speedy labour when it starts. Good luck. X

theinsider · 27/12/2008 20:21

Just wanted to add support and a positive story - I was induced at 39 weeks for similar reasons, two lots of gel, a few sporadic contractions then nothing for 24 hours. Then it all started agin by itself and dd was out in less than 3 hours.

Hope things hapen for you soon

Lulumamaloveslatkes · 27/12/2008 21:08

debbsy ! sorry to hear things are tough but glad you are ok

NJ, get a good sleep if you can. if you can;t sleep , wander around and maybe read a little, don;t lie there tensely waiting for labour

things might well have changed over night

take it easy x

MatNanPlusTINSEL · 27/12/2008 21:29

Hope the DS's had a nice visit.

kayzr · 27/12/2008 21:38

Mikey was born about an hour ago. Just got a text from Nat. He is still feeding. He is small as expected but not worryingly small.

Huge congratulations to Nat and her family!!
