I have been having period like pains and backache since friday evening, last night I had an hour and a half of really intense contractions every few minutes, that suddenly stopped, had a few this morning as well, but now back to the period like pains and backache, how long could this go on for?

OP posts:

sore pelvis and back lots of bh, had a good dose or the runs 3 x today and yet nowt! no proper contractions etc. think im thinking about it way to much and trying to put everything down to labour. im only 36 1/2 weeks so not even due. anyone know how to forget about being pregnant for 3 1/2 weeks?

you throw well, for a girl!

Peachy · 29/02/2008 20:09

How do you know though when it isn't a false alarm after you've had a lot? (says the woman who's been having contractions and backache since 3, but not very regular- but baby in OP position- and not solved by a bath or anything- now breaking through paracetamol)?

Peachy · 29/02/2008 20:10

(by not very regular I mean constant abckache rather than on and off)

Lulumama · 29/02/2008 20:24

how many weeks are you ? any discernible rhythm or pattern? increase in intensity? make sure you are upright or over a birth ball if baby OP, no lying down especially on your back if you can help it....

rachaelsara · 29/02/2008 21:06

May I sit at the feet of Mars and Lulu? I'm a trainee Doula and will watch and learn!!!

Just (weds) supported a lovely lady who delivered her OP (fisrt) baby. Poor love had persistant very low back passage ache and no real pain in her uterus.

Peachy, go to this link for suggestions

Lulumama · 29/02/2008 21:07

am not recognised yet as am crapola at paperwork..! pull up a rocking chair and eat cake and knit with us !

Peachy · 29/02/2008 21:27

Am 6 weeks on Sunday- so a bit early.

pattern is easy: backache constant, if I stand up then contractions if Is it down, not

Going to go bed soon to see if it will dissipate, Dh ahsa 2 hour trek to Mum if he needs to but don't feel I want to gbe alone either

Peachy · 29/02/2008 21:29

(DS2 was OP by the way sor ecognise it- and last time it took 44 hours! And still not convinced it won't just stop tbh)

Lulumama · 29/02/2008 21:32

if htey die off when you stand it is not proper CTX, have you spoken to jofeb>

Peachy · 29/02/2008 21:34

No they get bad when I stand0- its sitting that kills them

(haven'yt spoken to Jo, don't want to drag her away from kids when DH here- she does know baby was enagaing over a week ago though)

Lulumama · 29/02/2008 21:39

sorry, i read that wrong

what is your gut feeling, peachy?

Peachy · 29/02/2008 21:43

Dh says yes, call Mum- my gut feeling was yes 2 days ago so am not sure- think I will be best off staying here as long as possible, getting some sleep and then going in (as I cant obv. have a premmie however slightly) at home- sleep might sort it yet!

My MW only availoable 8 - 4 on weekdays

rachaelsara · 29/02/2008 21:52

Sleep is a very good plan imo!

Lulumama · 29/02/2008 21:59

so what happens if you go into labour full term after 4 pm ? nad before 8am or a a weekend?

bath, sleep and wait and see....

Peachy · 01/03/2008 08:57

All stopped as son as I posted! Typical! If it starts agin today, I am going to call the AAu advice line- they may (I suppose) want to check baby isn't getting distressed?

If you go into labour at a different time there's a specific l;abour line to call, but that's not for advice. otherwise its NHS Direct according to my notes.
