I have been having period like pains and backache since friday evening, last night I had an hour and a half of really intense contractions every few minutes, that suddenly stopped, had a few this morning as well, but now back to the period like pains and backache, how long could this go on for?

MerlinsBeard · 28/02/2008 16:15

i don't want a 29th February child!!! I want to go out tonight and then baby can come (early) at weekend when i don't have to worry about school lunches and school runs and getting ds2 looked after!

am not officially due until 20th but being induced next week because of OC.

Anyway....now that i have taken over Angua's thread....whre the flippin' eck is she??

DrivingMissHannah · 28/02/2008 16:52

havent read all the threads so sorry if i repete but i was in slow labour for about a week and was told to put Jasmine oil in the bath and lay in there for as long as you can. baby was with us in the morning 44mins after waters broke!! good luck

Peachy · 28/02/2008 20:55

I'd just be ahppy if baby could come before Easter hols- otherwise have Dh looking after kids which I am not convinced about but absolutely nobody to take them (I know my douls will be great but would like DH there as well)

However, nothing today so at least might get some sleep which will be A Good Thing

AnguaVonUberwald · 28/02/2008 21:03

Hey all

Sorry I haven't been on for a couple of days, really annoyed with hospital.

Phoned up and was told to come in due to ongoing pain/nothing actually developing. Spent 5 hours on the labour ward being checked, blood tests, internal exam (OMG those are awful), and found to have totally closed uturus, no sign of labour what so ever, dipstick in urine (WHICH WAS CLEAR)

They threatened to keep me overnight, but said I could go home if I promised to go to the day assement unit next morning.

Went in and spent three hours there being monitored, did the dipstick in the urine and apparently this is ALL CAUSED BY A URINE INFECTION.

Which they didn't pick up the night before because..... Wait for it....

They use different dipsticks on the labour ward which don't pick up all the things the ones in the day assesement unit do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So now I am 37+2 pregnant, still having cramps that are all caused by urine infection irritating uterus, and haveing no affect on bringing baby out at all!!!

Mumofmonsters, what news? Is home birth on or off now?

Madamez, where are you based? Would love a travel cot, haven't bought one!!!

bugger, Angua!

don't know what else to say, really. It will happen soon though, I promise.

mehdismummy · 29/02/2008 08:28

hi angua. You poor thing i was blardy one cm dilated for a week! The girls use to call me it! Its bloody frustrating. And nothing will bring it on( i know the stairs of my hospital like the back of my hand! Is this your first? If it is? Trust me enjoy this quiet time! Things will never be the same again!

spugs · 29/02/2008 09:44

angua - what a pain, hopefully it'll get started soon. i wouldnt mind a 29th feb baby but it aint going to happen. plus my sis seems to think 36 1/2 weeks is still a bit early (shes not the one with the huge bump and tried demanding induction with her last one at 36 weeks, has changed tune since starting mw training)

had the first, have you had the baby yet phone call, hopefully no more for a while

Peachy · 29/02/2008 10:14

Angua- hugs. At least you have answers now I guess, and the baby WILL come out soon, in real terms (says the woman just as desperate as you LOL)

I actually ahd no contractions alst night, didnt sleep uch but was quite glad as would not have witnesed ds3 sneaking into my room TWICE just to kiss me and go abck to bed (amazing for any kid, for as ASD one like being given every gift on Earth ten times over LOL)

Hoping things have calmed down somewhat now!

Next battle if no more pain is to see what iron levels are, as if homebirth a no-no MW has agreed to ask for an induction at 38 weeks anyway (the biggest fear to everyone is me going into labour at home with the boys here but not being permitted a homebirth, as Dh works a goodly distance away, and I can't send the kids off to a neighbour or anything so would be stuck here and unable to go to hospital in any ambulance if there was a problem)

good luck anyone- surely MN can produce one 29th feb baby?

MerlinsBeard · 29/02/2008 11:50

Oh Angua I don't know what to say am at your labour ward though...wtf??? How are you today?

Peachy, am grinning madly about your DS, thats so lovely and so special for you!

I managed my night out last night although was niggling all the way thru. i am a saddo and i do karaoke on a thursday nighT at one point, just as i was trying to sing a high note, i got a HUGE twinge and couldn't sing properly!! ah well. Am aching like mad today, nothing contractiony though. We did have my mum on stand by last night tho. Am back in ADU for monitoring anyway this afternoon.

My home birth is completely off now Angua, i have obstetric cholestasis which is not responding to meds at all so am likely to be monitored all thru an induced labour. TBH i am not bothered. It sounds awful but i just want the baby out now, despite the fact its still got no name!!

MerlinsBeard · 29/02/2008 11:55

forgot to say that i am still nauseous today and that my iron is v low but they think its because of the OC rather than it being purely anaemia IYSWIM?

AnguaVonUberwald · 29/02/2008 12:01

Squonk - you come back here and justify the use of that word "SOON"

Seriously, I know it will be soon in real terms as Peachy says, but it just the wasted 4 days of pain, getting everyone worked up, and then nothing.

Peachy, that is so lovely about your son!!!

Mehedismummy - I know you are right, its just the thinking its all starting and then nothing actually happens!

Mumofmonsters, I know that feeling, I just want a healthy baby, the method really doesn't seem that important. Sounds horrible about your obstetric cholestasis, but at least they are checking the baby etc.

I am still getting some low grade cramping but its a lot better than it was, also feeling quite down, somehow after all the emotions earlier in the week.

The good news is: we now have new double glazing!!!!

Hi can I register myself here as someone also due and having lots of are they aren't they? pains that has been going on for the best part of a week but still no sign of baby.

MerlinsBeard · 29/02/2008 17:02

normal trace..baby fine...uterus was oddly only niggly and "irritable" lol! back on monday for more of the same

This thread could go on a while!

merryberry · 29/02/2008 18:02

had a WHOLE morning of no nausea or aches. lovely.

normal service of stabby cramps, BH, nausea and INSANE grumpiness now resumed.

belgo · 29/02/2008 18:04

oh Angua, this happened to me as well at 34 weeks, I was so convinced I was in labour I nearly asked for an epidural! (but at least they picked up on the urine infection immediately)

I was precisely 40 weeks when I went into labour for real.

Lulumama · 29/02/2008 18:05
