I have been having period like pains and backache since friday evening, last night I had an hour and a half of really intense contractions every few minutes, that suddenly stopped, had a few this morning as well, but now back to the period like pains and backache, how long could this go on for?

OP posts:

still cramping, still BH'ing, still nauseuous, still pregnant....

Peachy · 27/02/2008 09:41

Feel awful today. Started getting contractions last night in my back, big painful ones that were like those I had with DS2- OP labour Sure enough, after prodding we can feel babies ribs not spine. Getting them every 30 minutes until Dh had to go to work (staying home not an option),As soon as he left boys came down really hyper and, as we've noticed before, on sight of them everything stopped.

Finally got ds1 settled at 1am and started feeling really nauseous and couldn't sleep, contractions started again at 2- then ds3 woke up. At 3am finally got to sleep, Dh came home at 6.30 am, one contraction then boys woke and nowt.

Except that I have found a massive bruise on my leg and no idea where it comes from, though vaguely remember a stinging pain briefly in the night. It's quite big- 5cm square- and dark grey. No idea about what thats about, but feel really shattered, moody, faint, tender (from all the contractions) and have a miles trek up the hill for Uni at mid day.

Angua - I wondered if you were on labour ward when no news from you yesterday, sorry you are back out with no progress, so here are some +++++ contraction vibes ++++++++

mumofmonsters - heres hoping doc's are nice to you today and you get want you want.

merry - I could have written what you wrote, very nauseaous and fed-up here.

Peachy - you are getting plenty of sleepless night practice, now hope you manage that walk up the hill today.

Marsladt - thanks for keeping an eye on us all, any predictions as to who will be first???!!!

Pollyanna and VS we should all be here for a while yet, but sounds like we are all equally fed up of contractions!!

I have had an extremely quiet baby over last couple of days, nice as it is not triggering so many bhx's but keep worrying that he has gone quiet too, can't win can I!!!!

Peachy · 27/02/2008 12:33

Ah sleepless night practive- have two autistic kids wirh sleep disorders LOL, ds1 has gone through less than ten times I reckon in 8 years- I do not require that practice!!!

rainbowdays · 27/02/2008 13:37

oh peachy, did not realise that your lads had sleep disorders too...... phew, how do you manage, you amaze me. With your studies and SN children and being pg, I don't think I could do it. I am exhausted just thinking about what you do!

madamez · 27/02/2008 13:40

Angua: you're near us :-) DOn't want a travel cot, do you? GOod luck for your birthing anyway - and good luck to the rest of you as well, happy contractions.

Pollyanna · 27/02/2008 13:47

Angua, know how you feel. I spend Monday on the antenatal ward - had to endure 2 internals and have sworn not to go back until I am in very active labour!

Peachy I was getting back pains this morning (on the train on the way to work worryingly!) - I had a back labour last time too, and really hope that I don't this time. it wasn't very pleasant! I fully expect to be left on my own on this thread in 4 weeks time

MoM hope your appointment has gone well today. Like you I was down to have a cs for placenta praevia, but am I right in thinking your placenta moved? Mine has too thankfully (although only in the last 2 weeks).

MerlinsBeard · 27/02/2008 13:48

pah, still here

lots of pains y'day and last night. blody earthquake thing woke me and took ages to get back to sleep. am achy and nauseous today.

Appt went ok today. loooong wait but they are either inducing next wednesday or will be given a date for a few days fter that. Meantime(if nothing happens) am back for more monitoring and more bloods and liver scan and growth scan...think thats it!!

so next week for me

MerlinsBeard · 27/02/2008 13:50

x posts pollyanna

yep my placenta moved and home birth was back on until i started itching like i had fleas!

can't believe there are so many of us with "niggles". NOt the right word but you know what i mean!

MarsLady · 27/02/2008 16:10

No! I never predict who will give birth first, even in my antenatal classes. Babies never read the predictions and always do their own thing.

Oh this baby is predicatble

contractions each night between dinner time and Dh going to work, then agin in the early hours

last nuight a few hours getting to every 4 minutes, minute long each, strong enough that i considered coming onto MN to see if anyone about as DH at work and needed a bit of support- then stopping. Completely.

Another 4.5 weeks of this???

(I thought 4th labours were supposed to be easier? Pah!)

Oooooh my goodness!! I had completely forgoteen about LDC!! How rude of me!

Having pains today which are making me do sharp in takes of breath, so much so that DS2 (coming up 3) is copying me i know they will ease in a short while

MerlinsBeard · 28/02/2008 12:43

peachy, this will be my 3rd so could go either way so i have heard

Any news from Angua today?

VictorianSqualor · 28/02/2008 12:51

What's LDC?

MerlinsBeard · 28/02/2008 12:53

Lemon Drizzle Cake

AKA, Mars' cake

AKA The cake of cakes

AKA The MN Cake

MerlinsBeard · 28/02/2008 12:54

have alook here

VictorianSqualor · 28/02/2008 12:57

Ah, yes, I tried to make some. It didn't work

MerlinsBeard · 28/02/2008 13:26

ow-ey!

rainbowdays · 28/02/2008 13:39

MoM - relaxed breathing remember! You won't be able to eat cake without relaxing. It did make me laugh hearing your ds2 copying you, my dd is 3 and she would be doing the same.

funny that we are on 3rd and 4th babies here, you would have thought we would all know better by now!!!

MerlinsBeard · 28/02/2008 13:50

@ eat cake!

Think me sitting here isn't helping matters, going to lie down with DS2 and watch cbeebies with him b4 i have to pick up DS1 from school!

spugs · 28/02/2008 13:58

mom n- im on number 3 and ive heard the same, either really quick or little monkeys who dont behave not quite sure how they dont behave as mws never seem to give a definite answer. fingers crossed ours are little angels who behave with perfect manners

rainbowdays · 28/02/2008 15:01

Oh bother, just as I was getting confident that everything had settled down and I would be safe to travel tomorrow, now the contractions have started again, so I am wishing these contractions onto MoM to help her get things going even more .

Spugs why is it that all midwives say that 3rd births are always unpredictable, all I can hope for, for all of us, is that having been put through so much pre-labour agony that we get quick and easy births and not the surprisingly long and difficult ones.
