Bouncingturtle thinks she might be in labour!

Been having on and off contractions since yesterday evening. Had 1& 1/2 hours worth last night, but not regular in length or interval.
Managed to sleep last night, been getting them on and off again today, but think thye may be increasing in intensity.
I've got a continuous tightening pain under my bump, then what I think are contractions start under my bump and then it moves across around to my back.
But had no show or anything.

I'm having some problems with timing the contractions because they seem a bit vague, I imagine it would be like
no pain, pain, PAIN, PAIN!, PAIN!!!!!, PAIN!, PAIN, pain, no pain.
But it's more like
pain, oh, is that more pain? Oh yes I think so. Ooh better start timing, OWWWW!! Has it stopped, err no, err yes, err no. Oh now it has!

Does this make any kind of sense?

oh positive labour thoughts coming your way

and one very face sat here lol

IAmADaddy · 27/12/2007 12:50

Last post only just gone on - exam was at 11:15. She's had 1/2 dose diamorphene to try and get respite as was a bit delerious wth pain. Now dozing.

Plan is to get through to 4cm, get an epidural in her and see how it goes. That's the pool out, but pain going away more important. Or maybe she can try the pool with an Epidural if it doesn't help? Hope so, from a birth plan of minimal intervention if possible I think we're heading for a C-section at this rate.

PoinsettiaBouquets · 27/12/2007 12:54

Stay strong IamaDaddy, it will happen eventually.

madmouse · 27/12/2007 13:01

Bouncing and daddy don't give up as you say there is progress and an epidural can make a real difference. See if she can have one that wears off a bit towards the end so that she can push. Once the epidural is in and as long as the baby is happy there is no need to rush into a c-section! Keep us posted if you can.

MarsyChristmas · 27/12/2007 13:01

try the pool first. It honestly has a good effect. If it doesn't work... then think about the epidural. Once the epi is in the pool is completely out!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 27/12/2007 13:18

Definitely try the pool first and dont worry about possible c section at this stage!

Her body is doing what it needs to do and is progressing - dont get fixated on 1cm an hour bollocks!

Get her to make sure she is in positions that allow baby to turn easily, encourage her, tell her we are all rooting for her and to trust her body.

IIRC its very normal with an OP baby to cause tremendous pain at this stage with seemingly little progress but once that baby turns WHOOOOOOSHH I bet she opens right up and pushes baby out with ease.

IAmADaddy · 27/12/2007 13:42

She's been asleep/dozing for an hour or so now. Still contracting but says its now bearable when she wakes for a minute before dropping off again.
Have had back massage going alternate with cold flannel - seems to be helping.
Babies being born outside - very encouraging. Was a little scared earlier, better now as we will get though this and we're going home with a baby.

Tell her I'm thinking of her. I found the pool enormous pain relief with DS and great for getting him turned from OP. Once she's had a rest, she might like to see if her contractions are better when she's up and about or on all fours, and give the pool a shot. If it doesn't help at all, she can get the epidural then.

IAmADaddy · 27/12/2007 15:03

Now awake and in the bath. They're saying that if this doesn't kick it off she has to go home as they're busy.

BUT - had a big bloody show as she got in! Come on girl! Contractions now 45s about 3:30 apart.

And she has a big red spot in the small of her back - seem to remember the NCT class saying that is the go light. Anyone?

FlllightAttendant · 27/12/2007 15:10

Sounding really good, come on turtle, you can do it sweetheart!!!

Labour is different for every woman, she is doing great, it might be taking a while but it hasn't stopped, it is happening. Sounds like baby may have turned as well if the ctx are that close? Hope so x

FlllightAttendant · 27/12/2007 15:11

...I think bath will speed it up now if she is in established labour (3-4cm?)

Everything crossed for you.

suzi2 · 27/12/2007 15:14

Sounds like it's all happening. The show was the 'green light' for me. Never heard about the red spot thing ever

Best of luck to you both. If things start moving tell her to get active again. And don't be bullied by the hospital. If she really doesn't want to go home, tell her not to

liger · 27/12/2007 15:48

hope the pool is helping lots, sending all my best vibes to Bouncing and her baby bouncing,
