Bouncingturtle thinks she might be in labour!

Been having on and off contractions since yesterday evening. Had 1& 1/2 hours worth last night, but not regular in length or interval.
Managed to sleep last night, been getting them on and off again today, but think thye may be increasing in intensity.
I've got a continuous tightening pain under my bump, then what I think are contractions start under my bump and then it moves across around to my back.
But had no show or anything.

I'm having some problems with timing the contractions because they seem a bit vague, I imagine it would be like
no pain, pain, PAIN, PAIN!, PAIN!!!!!, PAIN!, PAIN, pain, no pain.
But it's more like
pain, oh, is that more pain? Oh yes I think so. Ooh better start timing, OWWWW!! Has it stopped, err no, err yes, err no. Oh now it has!

Does this make any kind of sense?

turkey curry??!!

MarsyChristmas · 26/12/2007 11:34

Visualisation techniques. Time to talk to the baby and tell him/her to come.

Above all... try to relax and do something that takes your mind off of it. Your body is working and you'll be holding your baby soon.

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 26/12/2007 12:11

Been out for a short walk, did the kerby thing.
Gigglewitch - we had beef for our Xmas dinner - no turkey here (we tend to have turkey on a regular basis, where as roast beef is something I save for special occasions!).
Marsy - I have informed baby that for every day it's overdue, we're docking its pocket money, do you think this'll work?

Hi bouncingturtle - I was due on 22nd and similar to you last night I was convinced it was all happening. Then went to sleep and it had all stopped again! It's so frustrating - just when you think you might be getting somewhere! Anyway good luck with it all, keep us posted x

claraquitetirednow · 26/12/2007 16:39

Good luck bouncing - hope to see you over on the postnatal thread soon (where the discussion is mostly about how tough breastfeeding is!)

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 26/12/2007 16:51

Bugger all has happened today, really fed up now and frustrated.

Poor Bouncing Turtle, I can imagine, I would be at my wits end and tearing my hair out (a bit impatient by nature). Your lo is clearly on its way, just rest, eat and drink, it will start again soon! Do something nice for yourself to distract you.

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 26/12/2007 17:31

I got the playstation dance mats out!

OP posts:
madChristmasmouse · 26/12/2007 17:40

Does that count as something nice to distract you or is it an attempt to start labour? It may work

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 26/12/2007 17:54

It's both! Bit knackered now though, having a rest!

good luck bouncing. only just found this thread, 9thank you flightA)
keep your spirits up. eat lots of chocolate!

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 26/12/2007 21:04

Cheers Pukka!
Pains have come back again, low down, similar to yesterday afternoon. Pain is bearable, got some paracetamol if i need it. Fingers crossed, it might kick something off!

gigglewitchyouamerrychristmas · 26/12/2007 23:20

good luck. get as much rest as you can now, save ya energy and all that. keep smiling,BT.

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 27/12/2007 04:11

Going back to hospital, contractions (?) appear to be every 4 mins, and rather ouchy!
Hope to God this isn't another false alarm!
Will keep you all posted please send me lots of dilating cervix vibes, if I get there and I'm only 2cem dilated I will be seriously pissed off

liger · 27/12/2007 06:18

sending lots of dilating vibes and watching out for news. your baby will be with you soon Lots of empathy and sympathy on slow overdue labour from me, good luck bouncing!!

FlossALumpOfPud · 27/12/2007 06:23

good luck!!

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 27/12/2007 07:34

Back again... still only 1cm dilated and baby now OP, but still lots of regular, painful contractions. Finding it very hard to cope now.

OP posts:
katwith3wisemen · 27/12/2007 07:43

Are you sure you are still 1 cm ?
if things are getting a bit more uncomfortable you could be further along.

Dont be worried about calling the hospital they will be happy to see you anytime.

Good luck. I'm sooo excited fpr you.

liger · 27/12/2007 08:06

phone the hospital again if you are finding it hard to cope.

But maybe also take some time to go into yourself, and zone out from all the back and forth to hospitals, the number of cm's, etc and just focus on breathing and contractions and sending vibes that this babe is coming.

Try on your knees with your head and arms resting on the birthing ball, i found that really relaxing and comfy for my bump xxx thinking of you xx

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 27/12/2007 08:18

Kat - the MW semed pretty sure when she did the internal exam.
Liger - yes been using the birthing ball and walking around as well.
Got a hot water bottle too.
Now timing contractions, they are lasting around 1 minute and ocurring between 2 and 5 mins.

Oh BT, how frustrating for you. Agree with all the other posts really. If you are finding it difficult to cope go to hospital if it will reassure you and make you feel better.

If you feel not being able to cope is coming from being upset and pissed off with it all, stay at home and try to visualise your baby getting into position and descending. Get into the zone and ignore all outside influences.

Don't forget getting some rest xx

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 27/12/2007 08:22

I think it is the latter, that's,pissing me off. Am very reluctant to go back to the hospital now in case I'm still not progressed enough, hence the data gathering.

OP posts:
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/12/2007 08:29

You're doing so well BT. Anybody would be knackered and just plain pissed off in your position.

Try and ignore the negativity (not so easy I know) and remember the contractions are bringing your baby another step closer to you.

It will happen. You will meet your baby soon. You and your dh will be great parents.

liger · 27/12/2007 08:47

the nice thing about resting your head and chest on the birthing ball while your knees are on a cushion on the floor is that you can close your eyes and go with things in a relaxed position, and you can still wiggle your pelvis to help the contractions.

Put some nice music on, get some smelly moisturiser and make yourself feel a bit human and then just go with the contractions - your body is doing what it should do,

well done bouncing, its so hard mentally to be told you are not pregressing and going to and from the hospital, you are doing really well !!
