Bouncingturtle thinks she might be in labour!

Been having on and off contractions since yesterday evening. Had 1& 1/2 hours worth last night, but not regular in length or interval.
Managed to sleep last night, been getting them on and off again today, but think thye may be increasing in intensity.
I've got a continuous tightening pain under my bump, then what I think are contractions start under my bump and then it moves across around to my back.
But had no show or anything.

I'm having some problems with timing the contractions because they seem a bit vague, I imagine it would be like
no pain, pain, PAIN, PAIN!, PAIN!!!!!, PAIN!, PAIN, pain, no pain.
But it's more like
pain, oh, is that more pain? Oh yes I think so. Ooh better start timing, OWWWW!! Has it stopped, err no, err yes, err no. Oh now it has!

Does this make any kind of sense?

Coming faster and harder now. Have just started on the Gas and Air. Slowed down for a while when she sat down playing Scrabble on DS! Got up and voom! Off they went!

FlllightAttendant · 25/12/2007 21:15

When I read 'playing scrabble on Ds' I thought, what, they are having a boy and were using the bump as a table!!!!

Well done Mr Turtle for keeping us informed, we are all very excited! Good luck Bouncing!

largevirginbirthandtonic · 25/12/2007 22:12

How lovely a gorgeous Xmas baby, good luck to Mr and MrsBouncingturtle. She sounds like she is doing a fantastic job!

me23 · 25/12/2007 22:26

sounds like she's doing great! keep us informed.

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 25/12/2007 23:17

It's all stopped! I've been sent home as only 1cm dilated! Did get quite painful at the hospital not too bad though, but contractions slowed right down after being 2mins apart! MW said she thought I wasn't in the active phase and so she examined me, she could feel baby's head and baby is doing well. Been given some more painkiler and advised to rest, hopefully something more will happen tomorrow. Was told I need to be aware of pain at the top of my bump, all of my contractions have been starting at bottom, upto my belly button and then across my back, which is apparently my cervix dilating, but the uterus itself hasn't been doing much!
Going to bed shortly, going to have a prostaglandlin milkshake

Oh BT, not to worry, It is never in vain, all the pains do something now. Go to bed and have a good sleep, i'm sure it will all start again soon. Good luck!

good luck getting your bouncingbabyturtle very soon

lovemybabes · 26/12/2007 02:25

ooh bouncing - i am four days overdue now and had hours of contractions last night. thought it was the real thing then it stopped. keeps happening.

it's so lovely to hear your news - it's weird being in labour limbo over christmas. i have a feeling i will be tomorrow, as ds was ten days late, so i reckon half that, so five days...

is this your first?

kiskidee · 26/12/2007 06:15

oh, boo. i was hoping for a birth announcement already. good luck with today

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/12/2007 08:56

Hold on in there BT. Your body was just having a practice! But it knows what to do now!

Make sure you have lots of rest today xx

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 26/12/2007 09:07

Hello all - must have really been knackered last night, as not be long out of bed! No more contractions as yet! Hoping they'll start again today so watch this space!

I will await with baited breath for an announcement, until then I hope it goes well!!!

Good luck

madChristmasmouse · 26/12/2007 10:42

awww bouncing turtle I am glad you are not sounding too disappointed. Hope it all starts again in earnest soon.

Naetha · 26/12/2007 10:51

Lots of coming out vibes for you bouncing! Hope things get going for you sooner rather than later, in the mean time get lots of sleep

suzi2 · 26/12/2007 10:55

Aw, that's pretty much what I did for days (sorry) so it's good that the hospital have advised you to rest up while you can. Once you've had some rest, try some kerb walking (one foot on kerb, one on road) as I'm sure that's what shuffled both mine down in the end.

suzi2 · 26/12/2007 10:56

Meant to say that the huge positive for me was by the time I was actually in proper labour, (I didn't realise as it was still contractions every few mins), I was 6cm dilated with DS and 8cm dilated with DD.

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 26/12/2007 11:11

Thanks for the pep talk ladies! I think the kerb think must be similar to the sideways walking down the stairs!
Was given some dihydrocodeine last night, but it has made me feel a bit sick and woozy so don't want to take anymore of them!
Have been bouncing on my ball, may go out for a walk in a while too!

Don't forget to use your bath.

Practise your relaxation exercises oh and watch a comedy. Honestly... it's fab for opening you up.

glad to hear that the dilation has started. Will look in and out today to see how things are going.

Have you and DH started with the nipple stimulation yet? Oh and don't do too many long walks as you don't want to be exhausted when active labour kicks in. (do you have a TENS machine? They're very good in early labour)

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 26/12/2007 11:25

We've been watching lots of comedies, going for a short walk and then I'll have a bath with my clary sage.
Haven't got a TENS machine though, but have a hot water bottle.
We tried the nipple stim, but I found it really uncomfortable because my norks are rather sore!
