Bouncingturtle thinks she might be in labour!

Been having on and off contractions since yesterday evening. Had 1& 1/2 hours worth last night, but not regular in length or interval.
Managed to sleep last night, been getting them on and off again today, but think thye may be increasing in intensity.
I've got a continuous tightening pain under my bump, then what I think are contractions start under my bump and then it moves across around to my back.
But had no show or anything.

I'm having some problems with timing the contractions because they seem a bit vague, I imagine it would be like
no pain, pain, PAIN, PAIN!, PAIN!!!!!, PAIN!, PAIN, pain, no pain.
But it's more like
pain, oh, is that more pain? Oh yes I think so. Ooh better start timing, OWWWW!! Has it stopped, err no, err yes, err no. Oh now it has!

Does this make any kind of sense?

Oh had a chat with DH's ex and she thinks I might be in slow labour - she had a similar experience when she had dss. I told her the pains were like really bad indigestion pains, and she said yep that's what she had - in fact she hand't realised at first she'd be in slow labour for 2 days!

Good luck BT, it sounds like your baby is letting you know it's ready to say hello.

It still could be early days, so eat, pee, poo and sleep.

Good luck and don't get scared. There's no need to get scared cos you're going to see your little one soon!

suzi2 · 25/12/2007 15:53

I had stop/start false/slow labour with both of mine and could contract regularly for hours and then it came to nothing!

It sounds like you're certainly gearing up. My only advice would be to relax, rest while you're still unsure. Once it's pain pain pain, you won't be able to rest much and you'll need your energy. Don't bother timing them unless they're definate. Even then, time a few in succession to get an idea, then stop timing until things seem more frequent. I made the mistake (both times!) of counting all those false ones and it felt like a looooonnngggg labour and I was so excited all the time. And when you do get real ones, www.contractionmaster.com is great.

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 25/12/2007 15:58

Thanks for the advice.
Have found contraction master!

excellent. so things progress nicely, I expect you to be at the slingmeet on thurs. so I can sniff your baby's head.

FlllightAttendant · 25/12/2007 16:35

Oh Turtle! Exciting!!

I thought my ctx were wind, until I realised they were regular - you know, one happened, then it disappeared, then it came again a few minutes later.
I had Ds2 3 hours later. It definitely wasn't wind iyswim!
Good luck chica, thinking of you!

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 25/12/2007 16:50

Yeah, they are starting to get a bit more frequent now! I really think this is it!!
Pain isn't too bad atm, just leaving me a bit breathless!
Going to bounce on my ball.
Still no show though, is this quite common?

I didn't have one with either child Waters went before ctx with ds1, not till second stage with ds2.

How far apart now turtle?

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 25/12/2007 16:52

I reckon around every 10 minutes. Going to start timing now I think.

Ooooohhhh! That is good. Glad you have the timer already as I can never find the blimming link!!

Am off to search for Lulumama. She is useful at this stage. And probably has cake.

Back in a minute...keep breathing, are you with anyone? Home or hospital in your plan?

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 25/12/2007 16:59

Dh is here, lending support though currently playing the new game I bought him for his DS lite!
Going to go to hospital, hoping to get the birthing pool.

FlllightAttendant · 25/12/2007 17:01

Oh lovely...I hope you get the pool!
Have you rung them to say things are happening? They might say ring back when ctx are 3 mins apart, but at least they'll know to expect you soon. When is your due date?

Lulu doesn't seem to be about, she will be cross she's missing this

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 25/12/2007 17:04

Not yet, I've been told to ring when contractions are 5 -7 mins apart and tell them I want the pool.
Bit hesitant to ring them yet as I could be like this for hours!

I'm glad it's still bearable. Try to make the most of it, rest, pace if you like, eat and drink if you feel like it, to keep strong.
Hot water bottle might help with the pain.
Bath too, if you've not had a show - though it might slow things down!

Really excited for you

I have to go off in a min but will check back later pet xx

EffiePerine · 25/12/2007 17:11

How exciting . Hope you get your poo. How far apart are they now?

EffiePerine · 25/12/2007 17:12

FlllightAttendant · 25/12/2007 17:12

rofl effie!!!!

EffiePerine · 25/12/2007 17:17

Do you have a Christmassy name picked out?

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 25/12/2007 17:51

ROFL at poo.. had poo this morning
Starting to get closer now!
Have called the delivery suite, they said wait until 3-4 mins apart or the pain becomes unbearable.
Have taken some paracetamol and got a hot water bottle too.

IAmADaddy · 25/12/2007 19:03

Evening ladies this is Mr Bouncing Turtle. We're in hospital now, she's walking around and waiting for them to get faster! Still about every 4 minutes, have taken nothing but Paracetomol so far and doing OK for the pain (superwoman!)

Don't know how far on we are, they're holding off an internal until she needs pain relief. Will keep you posted!

madChristmasmouse · 25/12/2007 20:13

Hi IAmADaddy, thanks for posting. Hope it goes wel there and that you will hold your little one soon. They obviously think something is happening or they would have sent you home. You look after yourself too!

Bouncing Turtle, have been following your thread all day, fingers crossed, keep moving! Sounds like you are doing great.
