Currently being induced - Can I ask to stop?

Was induced yesterday due to a scan the day before at 39+3 saying I had severe excess fluid. Had a pessary in for 24 hours and nothing has changed. I’ve been here for over 36 hours now, I’ve not slept and I’m struggling mentally.

Am I able to request a c section instead? My mum had a stillborn linked to induction, I’m at risk of cord prolapse the longer I go and I’m really working myself up and just don’t think having anything else shoved up me is going to be right for me 😞

@MrsTerryPratchett that’s good to know, I have heard most people say that! As long as they get it in first time it should be fine 🙈

Hi I'm sorry this is happening to you I went about 36 hours myself also with induction and my body just didn't respond I never got past 2cm dilated in all that time. My midwife did call time at midnight on the Sunday and my little girl was born at 5.02am Monday morning at exactly 42 weeks by emergency c section.
I found the whole process of being in hospital for 5 days little to no sleep and the Induction process left me traumatised and I ended up with severe pnd. If I had known or had the courage to stop it I wish I had looking back now according to a counsellor I most likely have ptsd from it.

I hope you can push for the delivery you now feel is right for you and all is well good luck

If you google the NICE guidelines you can request a C section for mental health reasons from memory. Ask them about the NICE guidelines for C section requests and that in itself will likely trigger something. I did this for my friend when we were in hospital together and she was desperate for a C section due to fears from a past pregnancy and they were refusing...until she mentioned the NICE guidelines.

Congratulations OP :D

I was told I had polyhydramnios at one consultant appointment and then a student sonographer at a follow up appointment said no it was fine... cue my waters being broken at my induction and it was unbelievable, an absolute river of waters was flowing out of me and soaking everyone, it was ridiculous!

I'm so glad you've finally had your beautiful baby, I had a similar experience with my third in terms of a very long induction. All the best to you and your yours xxx
