Currently being induced - Can I ask to stop?

Was induced yesterday due to a scan the day before at 39+3 saying I had severe excess fluid. Had a pessary in for 24 hours and nothing has changed. I’ve been here for over 36 hours now, I’ve not slept and I’m struggling mentally.

Am I able to request a c section instead? My mum had a stillborn linked to induction, I’m at risk of cord prolapse the longer I go and I’m really working myself up and just don’t think having anything else shoved up me is going to be right for me 😞

Feel so so so sorry for you. Mental and emotional torture! You absolutely should be priority now after so long! Keeping everything crossed for you. Xx

Passthewinebottle · 15/05/2021 15:57

Jesus Christ OP, you poor poor thing.

Really hope you get sorted soon, it seems so unfair what you're going through, you bloody tell them what you think, how you feel & what you're going through! Definitely speak to PALS next week xxx

babbaloushka · 15/05/2021 16:06

Frustrated for you OP! Agree about speaking to PALS, in the meantime think of you little boy. Do you have any names picked out?

TammySwansonTwo · 15/05/2021 16:18

I’m so sorry OP. Ask to speak to the inpatient matron right now - if baby needs to be born before due date then they’ll have to put you on the end of the list today as an emergency.

Hollywhiskey · 15/05/2021 18:51

Oh my goodness you must be exhausted you poor thing. I hope either baby is here or you have at least had a good dinner and visit with your partner. Keeping a pregnant woman nil by mouth is torture! Crossing everything they can do you as an emergency as it's your due date xxx

mrssunshinexxx · 15/05/2021 19:53

So hope you have healthy baby in your arms and have eaten a whole loaf of toast with buckets of tea by now

Theunamedcat · 15/05/2021 19:59

Ask about a transfer to another hospital my hospital stopped my induction due to a lack of midwife or beds but I wasn't allowed home the midwife on duty called her friend in another hospital and said they have beds and staff I cant reccomend legally you leave and go there but give me the nod if you want me to prepare the notes and warn the hospital your coming 24 hours later I was holding my baby in the other hospital

Littlebee1990 · 15/05/2021 23:52

I am SO sorry everyone.. it all happened so quick!!

Was told to eat and drink as they couldn’t fit me in and then midwife rushed back in 10 mins later and said no no ignore me omg have you eaten and I hadn’t.. she was like let’s go they’ve got a space and my partner walked in to visit for his one house and had no idea and they chucked him scrubs.

It was all so peaceful and perfect and everything I could’ve dreamed of

He’s passed all initial checks, latched on and had first feed. I’m ok, was as sick as a dog and feel like I been hit by a bus but he is amazing!! The surgeon said I had the most fluid they’ve ever seen, nearly 2 litres and his head is rather large but he is soooo cute.

And also on reflection.. 99% staff here have been amazing, I understand emergencies are priority and whilst I was here and baby was safe I wasn’t number 1, yes mentally it wasn’t great for me but baby and I were safe health wise. TBH they’re just overrun and too busy.

Honestly felt like I had an army behind me, thank you all SO much x
