Currently being induced - Can I ask to stop?

Was induced yesterday due to a scan the day before at 39+3 saying I had severe excess fluid. Had a pessary in for 24 hours and nothing has changed. I’ve been here for over 36 hours now, I’ve not slept and I’m struggling mentally.

Am I able to request a c section instead? My mum had a stillborn linked to induction, I’m at risk of cord prolapse the longer I go and I’m really working myself up and just don’t think having anything else shoved up me is going to be right for me 😞

Oh that’s a relief. I’ve had three friends be induced at my local hospital and they were all left for over a week. Two of them then needed emergency csections. The other one was left in this induction limbo with both of her pregnancies for over a week. She eventually gave birth vaginally.

@Littlebee1990

Section approved, I shouldn’t have ever doubted them. Consultant asked to examine me, I’m fully closed and cervix is high and they can’t even feel any part of his head and think he may have changed position again. They agreed a section is the best option.

Huge thank you everyone for encouraging me to be brave x

Oh marvellous! I think you made the right call- I remember a poster in the same position a long while back (too much fluid, risk of prolapse) who was too scared to ask for a section and was posting over several days of an induction that just wasn't progressing. The thread just went quiet suddenly and as far as I know she never came back to it. I hope she just forgot about it, but she'd been a regular poster until then.

Always better safe than sorry. Well done, OP. Do update when baby arrives! Good luck with your section x

That's great news. It's so hard to speak up when it comes to giving birth for some reason. I wish I'd done a better job of doing so! Well done! Do you have a caesarean date?

I had a failed induction and a c section with my first and opted for a c section with my 2nd. I didn't manage well with the induction. Hope you are holding baby soon.

Good luck hope it goes ok, I had 3days of failed induction at 15d over I eventually got a c-section with first. For my second I asked for a planned section and it was booked at my 20wk scan, the relief to not go through what I went through first time was huge! Hope you soon have a healthy bundle in your arms x

Gowned up, all my fluids done and ready to go to theatre and they cancelled it because of an emergency. Nil by mouth since 7am. This is mental fucking torture

After two days of induction I asked for a c section, was told the consultant would come and see me but she didn't, then my waters were broken without my consent (I didn't know what was happening) and then a registrar bullied me into going for the induction drip because the consultant couldn't come and see me. My daughter was born on day five in theatre with forceps and was in scbu due to infection and had a blood transfusion. Still so angry!

But hopefully you'll get your section!

Hope you are cuddling your baby by now, or at the very least they've let you have some dinner and rescheduled for first thing tomorrow!

@mummymummymummummum No I’m not allowed to leave but the midwife could see how upset I was (my partner was waiting in another room ready to be gowned up) and bless her she opened the main ward door and gave me the eye to sneak out and let me out for an hour with him because I was really upset (we missed our visiting slot getting me ready for theatre!).

Let’s hope for better tomorrow x

I’m glad you’ve got the cs approved and can see your partner for a bit.
I hope you manage some sleep tonight and you get your cs early tomorrow then you meet you baby.

Good luck @Littlebee1990! Try to rest as much as you can tonight and scoff your face if you're still allowed. I had a similar experience in November. You'll be grand x

Honestly I’m so overwhelmed, going to bed in such a different mindset than the crying mess writing this at silly o’clock and refreshing for replies last night.. thanks to our amazing midwives and all of you willing me on and the advice.

Hopefully I’ll have brighter news tomorrow and our boy will be here.
