did you start having sex again? I know its probably going to be the last thing on my mind, but I just want to know that I won't be doing myself any harm if its before the 6 week check up.

A few days

fingerwoman · 18/10/2007 16:03

lol, i don't think it'll do you any harm, but don't expect to be doing it before then

Coolmama · 18/10/2007 16:04

I had a few stitches and bled quite heavily so it was probably around 8 weeks. Also, wanted to speak to the dr first as I had nightmares about accidently falling pregnant again [shock}

muppetgirl · 18/10/2007 16:05

Good god! I couldn't envisage anything going up there again!!!!

Took a while but I had epis/stiches so maybe my view is lightly warped?

tigerschick · 18/10/2007 16:07

Most of my ante-natal group, who stayed in touch, waited until after their 6 week check. One didn't and she said that she started bleeding again afterwards, but then she thought about it and decided that she hadn't really stopped bleeding anyway.
I'd say that, if you feel up to it, it shouldn't be a problem. But I'm no expert

babyblue2 · 18/10/2007 16:08

2 weeks with DD1, 1 week with DD2.

PeachyFleshCrawlingWithBugs · 18/10/2007 16:09

2-3 weeks, I think. Not more, certainly.

Meeely2 · 18/10/2007 16:10

6 weeks, think dh had a reminder set up in outlook, so he pounced on me that evening!

FlossALump · 18/10/2007 16:11

3.5 weeks now since DD born but I can't imagine anything worse atm!! Not sore, but bleeding and not in the right place mentally!! Last time I think it was 5 weeks ish, because DP was wanting it desperately!

mum2bejan · 18/10/2007 16:17

2 weeks..... held my c-section wound together. Twas lovely and made me think this might be the only benefit of a painful c -section.....

fawkeoff · 18/10/2007 16:34

bout 5 weeks with dd and 2 with ds

MaeWhooooohest · 18/10/2007 16:37

6 weeks or so before full sex. Had a few fumbly sessions before that but was still bleeding on and off so didn't go the whole way. I had v straightforward delivery and felt physically back to normal after about 10 days, emotionally.... well that's a different story

mrsmalumbas · 18/10/2007 16:40

About 2 years

NorthernLurker · 18/10/2007 17:09

Don't want to state obvious - but whenever you do it - get contraception sorted first
unless you want 10 months between babies like a colleague of mine........

Lulumama · 18/10/2007 17:10

when you feel ready, physically and emotionally

and even if you are exclusively breastfeeding, you should consider contraception, if you don;t want to take a chance.

a lot depends on how the birth goes and if you have tearing/ stitches etc

for me, was after the 6 week check , and i had contraception sorted, i had one c.s and one v.b

GColdtimer · 18/10/2007 17:15

Before 6 WEEKS??? Ti get in before 6 months was an effort for me. Too blardy tired for one thing.

JARM · 18/10/2007 17:16

DD1 - 2 weeks
DD2 - 3 weeks

This baby (due nov)- 3 months if DH is lucky

GColdtimer · 18/10/2007 17:18

Sorry that should have said to get it in, but then actually I didn't mean that in the literal sense at all .

I just meant I waited just shy of 6 months.

I'll get my coat....

JodieG1 · 18/10/2007 17:21

Around 10 days with dd and ds1 and about 2-3 weeks with ds2 as I bled for longer.

SharpMolarBear · 18/10/2007 17:21

A week or so, can't remember exactly

OrmIrian · 18/10/2007 17:23

About 4-6 weeks for all of them if I remember correctly. I don;t think it was much fun the first time because I was afraid. But got better quite soon after that.

NoNameToday · 18/10/2007 17:33

Didn't know you were expected to do it again

Is that why I got divorced?

I's all Lulumama's fault .

fifisworld · 18/10/2007 17:37

Cant believe some people are ready after 2 weeks
I think with me it was about 8 weeks but i had a cs and was still a bit achy and bled for quite a while.
With this baby due dec ive told dp not to expect anything for quite a while

policywonk · 18/10/2007 17:39

God, I'm amazed at you lot getting frisky so quickly. It was literally more than six months after DS1 - and we conceived DS2 the second time we did it, heh heh.
