did you start having sex again? I know its probably going to be the last thing on my mind, but I just want to know that I won't be doing myself any harm if its before the 6 week check up.

STILL hurts when we try, so haven't "succesfully' managed penetration yet. we're talking 12.5 mths and counting...
tried again last night. my dp is beginning to develop sex problems himself because we can't.

D'ya know that humans are the only race that tries to prolong sexual relationships past breeding age?

I have told DH that since our family is now complete and we are in our 40's, there is no evolutionary need ever to have sex again.

Well... whaddya think?

becklespookle · 19/10/2007 11:06

pointydog · 19/10/2007 12:29

TellusMater · 19/10/2007 12:45

Blimey.

Months.

SixtyNiner · 19/10/2007 12:55

During an ante natal class the midwife mentioned a case of a couple (teenagers)doing the deed on the ward shortly after baby was born.
Oh the energy of the young

bethoo · 19/10/2007 12:59

within days even with stitches. i think it is up to the individuals involved. my friend bless her has had sex once since the birth of her son 8 months ago, she is no longer interested.

manicbotanic · 19/10/2007 13:02

I wanted to after a week but dh made we wait untill 3wks! he was worried - ahh

Sheherazadethegoat · 19/10/2007 13:04

lol @ at all the crazy post baby sex. i had a catheter for a couple of weeks afterwards which was a bit off a turn off to say the least.

DANCESwithHughJackman · 19/10/2007 13:05

GAWD am with Cod in the shock here! It was months for us, probably 3 ish. I had a section, I was sore, knackered and a bit in shock at the whole motherhood thing. Sex was the LAST thing on my mind

cazboldy · 19/10/2007 13:07

It was about 4 months the first time.
4 weeks the second.
8weeks the 3rd
4 weeks the 4th and about 12 weeks this time.
Lots of variables....length of bleeding, delivery, how knakered you are,etc
go with whats right for you, there's no pont doing it if you aren't going to enjoy it.
Whats with all this feeling bad for hubby thing????? You've just given birth to his baby ffs!!!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 19/10/2007 13:41

Well, having prepared dp for a drought in that area, I was really confused when I was gagging for it 3 days after the birth!

To be honest I felt so incredibly achy, immobile and racked with spd at the end of the pregnancy, that even despite the stitches afterwards I felt sooo much better I was well up for celebrating getting my body back! Plus as someone else said, I had a huge rush of love for my dp for giving me such a beautiful baby, so I suppose I wanted to show him.

Having said all that, we held off having sex until about 3 1/2 weeks afterwards when I'd stopped bleeding.

nurseyemma · 19/10/2007 13:51

8 weeks ish but only cos I wanted to get it out of the way.

dh being ratty and petulant.

Nowadays when I've had a few glasses of wine but not really that up for it at all

suwoo · 19/10/2007 14:02

7 months after quite horrific vag delivery with DD. 3 weeks after section with DS. Its much easier after section (from behind) as no car crash fanjo and can't see scar from behind. Nice...

With each of mine I made sure I did it before the 6week check up. Had second degree tears each time and didn't feel like it for months really . I'm shocked that people can feel up to it so quickly!

foxystein · 19/10/2007 15:04

3 months and counting...

JoanWilder · 19/10/2007 15:08

o m g

I had 3rd degree tear, episiotomy and 2 post natal operations!!!
no sex for 6 months, and only then very very carefully, and I still cried

MrsArchieTheInventor · 19/10/2007 15:26

When I'd stopped bleeding, about 9 weeks.

I do remember one of DP's mates making a crude joke about anal sex as a substitute just after DS was born. I asked him if he was going to be the one to offer his arse to DP and strangely enough the answer was no.

Meglet · 19/10/2007 15:46

lol at archies anal sex joke

We waited 4 weeks after my c-section, felt a bit fragile but everything was ok. I have no idea how women can do it after a VB?! Isn't everything really delicate for ages? ouch.

eandh · 19/10/2007 16:03

about 4 months with dd1 was fed up/exhausted and couldnt be arsed

Started ttc when dd1 was 9 months so dh was very happy (took aw hile!)

dd2 about 5 months again tired (both dd's get up at night!!) and we now have a regular 'pattern' that keeps us both happy

Twitsthatgobumpinthenight · 19/10/2007 16:25

never ever again. probably.
