With my 2 DD's I took castor oil so pretty much suer it was going to happen soon after. This timne round there will be no castor oil, that is unless they say they'll induce me then I'll intervene. So anyway, hopefully this tiem it'll be a little more unexpected. Made me wonder where and when it might happen.

With DD1 it was 10.50pm on a Sunday evening and I was watching a rubbish film with DP - 'Cat's and Dogs'. Why on earth was that our choice of film that night????

With DD2 I was snoozing in bed, Sunday eve / Monday morning, about 2am ish.

Went into instant contractions, no slow build, waters didn't break with DD1 and they broke when I got up out of bed with DD2.

How about you?

With DS, I was in hospital anyway (had high blood pressure and had been in and out of hospital for a few weeks). Waters broke at 6:30am and woke me up. Had some niggly contractions that day but not much until 6:45pm when I was walking back from the hospital shop and realised that I was starting to have proper contractions .

With DD, I had woken up about 6:45am and was pottering downstairs. By 7am I knew that labour had started .

DD the waters broke in the afternoon when I was trying to pick something up from the kitchen floor.

DS when I woke up the contractions just kept on coming. Did manage to get DD fed and off to nursery.

lulumama · 27/06/2007 14:29

lulumama · 27/06/2007 14:31

with DS , i was induced the week before his due date

OrmIrian · 27/06/2007 14:32

First time - in bed at 6am wondering what I'd eaten to give me such bad stomach pains....doh!
Second time - pushing DS#1 round the park on his tricycle.
Third time - lying on bed with DD watching her new Bear in the Big Blue house video. Twisted round to pick something up and my waters broke. Contractions didn't really start for 24 hours though. Only time I really really hated having a baby.

With ds1 I was getting up in the middle of the night to go to the loo and I had a huge contraction on the way out of the bathroom, gripped hold of the side of the bath and my waters broke.

With dd I was in hospital anyway being monitored and the midwife very kindly gave me a sweep. 1 hour later my waters broke and I was in labour.

With ds2 I had thought I was in labour all day but decided to go to hospital finally when dh came home from work. Unfortunately I was expecting a shopping delivery which was late and so ended up with MIL and I putting my weekly food shopping away in the fridge while I had mild contractions, dh panicking in the background. Still, at least dh and the dcs had something to eat while I was in hospital .

bagsundereyes · 27/06/2007 14:41

I was in Waitrose, and blamed the excruiating cramps on the previous evening's takeaway curry. Luckily my waters didn't break until after I'd got the bus back with all the shopping .

paulaplumpbottom · 27/06/2007 14:42

DS1 in hospital following prostaglandin pessary.

DS2 had just finished reading william boyd's Restless at 4am. Went for a wee and - whoah - there was contraction. 90,minutes later my darling was in my arms!

MrsFish · 27/06/2007 14:49

With my first, 3am in the morning, had just got back in bed after going to the loo, when my waters went, I thought I had just wet myself as there wasn't much... 5 mins later first contraction, 5 mins later the next..., was in hospital by 3:45 after having contractions every couple of minutes, had ds1 at 8am

Soph73 · 27/06/2007 15:02

I was in the shower when my waters broke. We were due to go out for pizza which was my ultimate favourite when I was pg so I was extremely miffed When I got to the hospital they told me my waters hadn´t broken (which was rubbish ) Then they induced me because I wasn´t having any contractions!!!

thequeenofcontradiction · 27/06/2007 15:03

I was watching a documentary on the Suez Crisis, as I was due to give a presentation on it the next week.

Marne · 27/06/2007 15:06

I was on MN

DS1 - lying on floor (on front) one evening, reading and eating mussels! Needed loo and waters went while on the loo. Ctx started half an hour later as we arrived at hospital, had DS about 7 hours after that.

DS2 - sitting on sofa at 6.54am, watching something dire with DS1. Started a thread on MN and by 8.30 was in active labour, DS2 born at 10.32am!
