With my 2 DD's I took castor oil so pretty much suer it was going to happen soon after. This timne round there will be no castor oil, that is unless they say they'll induce me then I'll intervene. So anyway, hopefully this tiem it'll be a little more unexpected. Made me wonder where and when it might happen.

With DD1 it was 10.50pm on a Sunday evening and I was watching a rubbish film with DP - 'Cat's and Dogs'. Why on earth was that our choice of film that night????

With DD2 I was snoozing in bed, Sunday eve / Monday morning, about 2am ish.

Went into instant contractions, no slow build, waters didn't break with DD1 and they broke when I got up out of bed with DD2.

How about you?

with DS1 I was induced so at the hospital

DS2 I was in the bath

DS3 I was at DS2's nursery

NAB3 · 28/06/2007 17:39

I had just gone to bed with 2 and 3. Number 1 was an emergency section and I hadn't gone in to labour.

7 weeks ago to the day, sitting on the sofa at 10.30pm eating chilli and watching Kill Bill. Actually to be more precise I was leaning forward over a plate of chilli picking up dropped rice from the floor when my waters popped. Promptly dropped said plate of chilli and squealed 'I've sprung a leak' at a bemused dh who was by this point watching the cat lick chilli off the carpet. First contraction 30 minutes later and dd born 24hrs later by emergency cs as she was stuck in transit.

How can I be broody with a 7wk old dd?

MrsTittleMouse · 28/06/2007 18:22

3 days before DD's due date in Starbucks. Shame that my waters didn't break, do you think they would have given me a free decaf latte?
DD was far too proper and decided that she couldn't possibly be early, and so hung on until said due date.

mckenzie · 28/06/2007 18:43

first time - I dont remember

second time - my waters broke in the David Lloyd changing rooms after I'd done a spinning class, I felt a few twinges as I was having a Lent Lunch in the church hall with my DM and sister, had my first mild contraction as I was driving to M&S to get some provisions and had the biggest of all contractions ever at the checkout in good old M&S and, as mentioned in other threads, not a single bugger noticed

fryalot · 28/06/2007 18:43

1st time eating a particularily nice dinner DH1 had cooked for me with MIL and wondering whether I was in labour.

2nd time in hospital already with high blood pressure and telling nurses I had pains and to check if I was dilated. Subsequently being told to wait a few hours for a check - they didn't believe me - though I was in agony All turned out well in the end though

mckenzie · 28/06/2007 18:52

gegs73 - you've just reminded me. First time was out for a chinese meal with DH and MIL. I thought I had indigestion but while I was in the toilet MIL apparently told DH that I was in labour. She was correct

nomdeplume · 28/06/2007 18:55

16 days over due, finally gave in and tried the ultimate old wives tale for getting things started, yes rumpy pumpy... about half and hour later started having really strong really painful contractions (which were relentless for whole 24 hours before ds appeared), then and only then did I think that maybe we should have done it in the morning rather than 12 o'clock at night - didnt sleep again for another 4 nights!
all worth it !!!

mckenzie · 28/06/2007 19:09

nomdeplune - No 2 was 2 weeks late and I was 48 hours away from being induced. Class teacher wasn't overly comfortable with it but I was willing to try anything

JoeAverage · 28/06/2007 19:13

Was laid on the settee watching telly with a hot water bottle clutched to my bump cos 'I kept having strange pains'

ROFL - bless, I was 9 days early though so wasn't ecpecting it

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/06/2007 19:14

I was sleeping. Woke up 5am for a wee, and noticed when I got back into bed that I seemed to be having contractions 7 mins apart. Got up after about half an hour and came to post on MN!!

gegs73 · 28/06/2007 19:17

Went for a very long walk on a rather remote Common. Still don't know where the energy came from. And it makes my blood run cold when I think that I might actually have gone into labour in the middle of the Common, with an hour-long walk to get home LOL!

I emphasise that I did at least take DH with me. And it was a few hours before the contractions actually started, but I'm sure all that exercise kicked things off.
