With my 2 DD's I took castor oil so pretty much suer it was going to happen soon after. This timne round there will be no castor oil, that is unless they say they'll induce me then I'll intervene. So anyway, hopefully this tiem it'll be a little more unexpected. Made me wonder where and when it might happen.

With DD1 it was 10.50pm on a Sunday evening and I was watching a rubbish film with DP - 'Cat's and Dogs'. Why on earth was that our choice of film that night????

With DD2 I was snoozing in bed, Sunday eve / Monday morning, about 2am ish.

Went into instant contractions, no slow build, waters didn't break with DD1 and they broke when I got up out of bed with DD2.

How about you?

Waters broke on thursday night, no contractions. Booked in on Sat for induction so decided to go for dinner Friday night. Walked to the seafront for italian and just as we were finishing dessert, felt first contractions, walked home, then it all kicked off in earnest about 4am sat morning. Was glad of the carbs I'd had at dinner.

I was induced with DD1 so in hospital

With DD2, DH was working on his own in the kitchen on camp. Me and 15mnth old DD1 went up to keep him company for the day, I spent most of the day lifting her and putting her down again to keep her from being under DH's feet, and lo and behold, had a show at lunchtime, and was sitting in the car waiting for DH to lock up at 4.45pm and got my first twinge. thought nothing of it, thought it was just another false alarm, until by the time we were home at 5.30pm i thought this might be it.

Headed to hospital at 7.30pm, DH stayed behind until my dad arrived to watch DD1. Examined on arrival at 7.45pm and was 3cm, DH arrived at 9.15pm and I was examined again and 6cm. DD2 born at 12.15am

Hoping to have this one at home but not sure, will see how I feel nearer the time, got until November to decide.

DS I was making love to my partner when the contractions started, I thought he had just hurt me so tried to go to sleep. They got worst so thought it might be wise to pack mine and the bumps hospital bags.Born the nextmorning in pool

Hopeitwontbebig · 27/06/2007 16:34

DS1 - was woken up by neighbours arguing at midnight. Had one of my IBS spasms so went to the toilet, came back to bed.... had another IBS spasm, tried the toilet, came back to bed... had another IBS spasm tried the toilet, came back to bed to find DH fully dressed ..... at which point he said.. 'Hmm, do you think you might be in labour?'

WHOOPS, I was in labour. In my defense, I do suffer from IBS and the pain is the same as contractions!!!!!!

DS2 - induced.

NoodleStroodle · 27/06/2007 16:38

jamiesamfreddie · 27/06/2007 20:47

Ds1 - woke me up at 8.30am (my last ever lie in!)

Ds2 - bit hard to pin down after several false alarms, but sometime late on a Sunday evening.

Ds3 - went straight to elective c/s at 39 weeks.

MaeWest · 27/06/2007 20:47

Watching a DVD of The Philadelphia Story on Sunday afternoon, wondering why the pains in my back were making me uncomfortable every five minutes . Bit of a rough night then things really kicked off the next morning, DS popped out on the living room floor at about 2pm on Monday

francagoestohollywood · 27/06/2007 20:48

I was asleep, with both children I felt my first contraction at around 6 o' clock in the morning.

Shoshable · 27/06/2007 20:58

1st time watching Grease at the movies first time it came out, 2nd time at grandparents wedding Ann Party 3rd time at a Paul Young Concert!

Ooh what a lovely thread - makes me want to get pregnant again.

Dd1 - in bed, trying to sleep , took 3 more days for the blighter to arrive though!!

Dd2 - waters broke 30 mins after dp got home from his first half day at work for 2.5 weeks - he'd been off sick and had gone in to set cover for his lessons 'in case the baby arrives'. Am sure my body knew it was ok to go ahead!
