With my 2 DD's I took castor oil so pretty much suer it was going to happen soon after. This timne round there will be no castor oil, that is unless they say they'll induce me then I'll intervene. So anyway, hopefully this tiem it'll be a little more unexpected. Made me wonder where and when it might happen.

With DD1 it was 10.50pm on a Sunday evening and I was watching a rubbish film with DP - 'Cat's and Dogs'. Why on earth was that our choice of film that night????

With DD2 I was snoozing in bed, Sunday eve / Monday morning, about 2am ish.

Went into instant contractions, no slow build, waters didn't break with DD1 and they broke when I got up out of bed with DD2.

How about you?

With ds I had just clambered into bed.

With dd just as I discharged myself from hosp. Didn't let on to dh as we drove home, stopping on the way for fish and chips. Waters went just as I clambered into bed at 10.30 and she arrived at 11.59.

dd1 - c/s
dd2 - induced
dd3 - queuing for ice cream ona bank holiday monday with my parents, dp and dd's. I was getting soooo angry and uncomfortable but refused to sit down and refused to leave without ice cream...never occurred to me I was in labour I just thought I was hot and irritable with back ache...lol

Both times (dts in 1997 and dd3 last year), i woke up in the night for no reason, got out of bed, and felt gush of water onto floor down my leg
No soggy sheets or ruined mattress for me - apparently i get advance warning

sweetcherrypie · 28/06/2007 11:44

I was induced, not very nice! I wanted to go into labour when i wasn't expecting to but i guess these things don't always go to plan

Diplidophus · 28/06/2007 11:51

DS1 - sometime in the night. Kept getting up and trying to poo. Got up and ate some all-bran at about 4 am thinking that I was constipated. At about 6 begun to notice that the it was every 15 min or so.

Had a bath, became convinced it was labour at about 8 ama d went into hospital at about 9.30. Was in co much pain I was convinced that it must almost be time to push. Disappointed to be told just under 3 cm and not really established. At 2 pm had only progressed about a cm so had CS (it was a failed trial of baby for a breech).

LO2: Had show yesterday, lots of twinges and strong Braxton Hicks today. Sweep booked this afternooon... watch this space!

Hopeitwontbebig · 28/06/2007 13:14

sep1712 · 28/06/2007 13:29

waters broke whilst moving the real christmas tree whilst dh was out of the room because he had not put it in the right place!

justaphase · 28/06/2007 13:32

doing Sudoku puzzles. I was quite advanced by the time I decided it was the real thing and I should phone dh.

I have never been able to do Sudoku so quickly before or since. Nothing like some contractions to focus the mind...

harleyd · 28/06/2007 13:37

podglet · 28/06/2007 13:38

Didn't make it to "proper" labour. Waters went at 7.30 am on first day of mat leave. Baby arrived by emergency c-section 44 hours later after I had only managed to go to 2 cms with induction

lou33 · 28/06/2007 13:40

dd1 i was in bed early morning considering getting up for a wee

dd2 i was packing to go home after staying with my sister in ireland for xmas

ds1 i was asleep in bed

ds2 they took me in and induced me 4 weeks early

Piffle · 28/06/2007 13:42

ds1 the crossword
dd - was asleep
ds2 was sitting bloody waiting for labour, obsessing aboute very twinge...

JodieG1 · 28/06/2007 13:44

dd - in bed
ds1 - in bed
ds2 - in bed

hmm, there's a trend there!

PhoenixSongbird · 28/06/2007 13:45

Having been induced, I was saying goodbye to dh as the midwife wouldn't believe I was in labour . I was talking to my mum on the phone 200 miles away and even she knew! Bloody useless!

Meglet · 28/06/2007 13:56

Acupuncture at tea time, labour started within a couple of hours. Managed to get to last ante-natal class that evening then DS born by emergency c-section 10am the next morning.

mummacaz · 28/06/2007 14:46

Went to my midwife appointment at 2pm for a sweep, she told me I was 5cm! Went home and called maternity unit, went down there at 8pm, didn't start getting real painful contractions till about 10pm, DD was born 3.20am.

clerpi · 28/06/2007 17:02

ds1 - couldn't sleep, so was reading on sofa at 7am when waters broke. Left dh to sleep. First contraction 9am. Little one arrived 12 hours later.

#2 - have been in "pre-labour" with 4-10 hours of contractions every day for 3 weeks now and am v. v. v. grumpy, so thank you for cheering me up lots with this thread!

Any suggestions for getting labour to actually keep going would make my day!

lol

pointydog · 28/06/2007 17:11

sleeping

both times

Boobsgonesouth · 28/06/2007 17:13

...eating a bowl of cornflakes..then my waters broke !!!!

QueenofTwee · 28/06/2007 17:23

Waters broke as I was taking money out of the cashpoint near Holborn station. So it wasn't a cashflow but another kind of flow problem, groan. Had to get the tube from there to go home
