I'm 40+2 with DC2. DM is staying to look after DD1 when the time comes.
I'm fed up, we're just milling around waiting! Bouncing on the birth ball, eatinv pineapple and planning a spicy curry for tonight.

I'm tired and grumpy. Anyone care to join me? I'm clearly a delight to be around Wink

Haha! My cousin just sent me a message saying Haway the lads!

I'm packed and waiting by the door, my OH is still preening. He is very good at procrastinating when he's nervous.

Sleepybunny · 12/12/2015 00:56

Babies?? Anyone have any news??

Strawberry has had her boys! It's over on a thread in pregnancy

Loft653 · 12/12/2015 17:32

Yay, congratulations Strawberry. Hope it all went well x

Sleeplessme · 12/12/2015 18:17

Hello, can I join? 40+2 here with DC 3. Not gone overdue with the other two so this is new to me! I'm very worried about having the baby at Christmas and wondering if because this is what I do not want, this is exactly what's going to happen?? I'm sure I'm subconsciously holding baby in. Do you think that's possible? Had a sweep and mucus plug is out, but am only having the odd BH so all v unsatisfactory. Sad

Congratulations to all of you who've had your babies. Anyone else still waiting? X

SerenityReynolds · 12/12/2015 18:28

Congratulations strawberry! Flowers

Persephone76 · 12/12/2015 20:41

Sleepless, I'm 40 weeks today, same anxiety about a birth near Christmas! Hopefully we won't go too overdue!

Sleeplessme · 12/12/2015 21:19

Hey Persephone. Glad to see someone else in same boat. Just read your last post and that you were induced at 2 weeks over. What was that like? I suppose if this happens to you again it would be sometime between Christmas and New year, maybe that would be OK? Not ideal, but main thing is to avoid the big day perhaps. My 2 are so excited about Christmas, can't imagine anything worse than being in hospital on the day and missing them opening their presents etc.

Have you had any symptoms at all?

Persephone76 · 12/12/2015 22:56

Hey sleepless, I was induced at 12 days over last time, baby born 13 days over, so that would be bang on Christmas Day this time. Am in a diff NHS trust that has T+11 as induction policy, so that would be 23rd dec, not hugely better, and I doubt they would let me wait until 42 weeks. I'm having a sweep at 41 weeks so I may ask if they will induce me on 21st dec at 41+2. Hopefully won't have to resort to that. I have been having some niggly back pains on and off this evening but i think i had that last time and never went into labour naturally - it's hard not to get my hopes up so trying to not get too excited! How about you? Induction wasn't great last time - on the one hand it was quick, only 12 hours from gel being put in to birth. On the other, I had cut, v complicated tear and large PPH with blood transfusion. But whether that was down to the induction or would have happened anyway I'll never know! Really hope you can avoid xmas day...it must be a concern with the older 2. My little un is only 2, so whilst it would be sad to miss it, he won't really know what's going on!

strawberryandaflake · 13/12/2015 01:09

Thank you all! Still in hospital recovering but babies are perfect. They keep talking to each other and cuddling, so freakin' adorable I could eat them. Hope all goes well for you all too and thank you so much for all the support I got here xxxxx

Sleeplessme · 13/12/2015 12:57

Persephone, your induction sounds like it was quite an experience, poor you. Hope you get to avoid induction this time, perhaps the sweep will get things going for you. I don't really know how effective they are, mine was 3 days ago and still nothing but perhaps it only works if you're close to giving birth anyway. Back pains are a good sign, it's hard not to get excited when you feel niggles isn't it because it could just be it! I'm getting frequent BH in evenings now so I go to bed every night hoping to wake up with pain (bizarre right, who hopes for pain?!) But I just wake up in the morning after a night of crazy dreams (like giving birth to puppies) and feeling hunky dory, it's so frustrating... Are you trying anything to get things going? I'm trying to accept that baby will come when it's good and ready but find it soo hard, it's almost all I can think about. X

Congratulations Strawberry, I can just picture the little cuties, enjoy the lovely snuggles. X

Persephone76 · 13/12/2015 17:54

Yes sweeps are funny things - I'd read that labour starts after 48 hours in 70% of cases but I had 2 last time and nada! Ha, I know what you mean about wanting pain, it's very strange. I'm taking raspberry leaf tablets, although I think they're more about making labour more effective than bringing it on. I've ordered clary sage oil which arrived today, so I'll put that in my bath tonight. Oh and I've got a birth ball so I might have a go on that. Can't hurt I suppose! How about you? It's v hard to carry on with normal life and think of anything else. I'm constantly putting in loads of washing and hoovering the carpet, in case it's my last chance!

Sleeplessme · 13/12/2015 23:01

Ooh what's the Clary Sage oil meant to do? I don't think I know about that one. I'm drinking raspberry leaf tea, ate pineapple, drink pineapple juice, bouncing on my ball, went for long walk, DTD (yikes) and today scrubbed the floor on all fours and still nothing. I'm going to give acupressure a go, think there are some you tube videos on how to do it. All seems rather silly really, I'm not sure if it's helping or actually making the situation worse. Perhaps best thing to do is accept that baby will come when he's ready and relax about it, but I like to feel like I'm being proactive and in control, hard for me to just let it be.. Sounds like your nesting instinct is still in full swing which is good. Makes you feel better too when the house is somewhat clean and organised doesn't it. Well, night night. Here's hoping we'll both be awoken by hideously strong contractions!

Persephone76 · 14/12/2015 18:51

Well apparently clary sage oil is meant to bring on contractions - so much so that they tell you not to use it before 38 weeks. But it didn't work last night. I really thought it was it last night as I'd felt so different all day, v crampy, back ache on and off and it felt like baby had dropped as I was so uncomfortable. But a restless night with 4 get ups for the loo and a dream that the mum on topsy and tim had an affair and they divorced....woke up this morning feeling back to "normal", like baby's head had unengaged!! So annoying! I do know exactly what you mean about wanting to at least try stuff. Pineapple! I'd forgotten about that! I'm useless with spicy food at the mo as I'm getting bad reflux so I can't try that. Dare we try castor oil?!! I know it's meant to be a really bad idea! Maybe you went into labour today, hope so!?

Arabgirl · 14/12/2015 20:40

Hi, I had both my babies late! First at 42 weeks and second at 43 + 1, am sending you all positive vibes!

I'm researching post-term pregnancy - so if there are any mums out there who had a baby post 42 weeks in the past three years, please can you fill in my short survey?

goo.gl/forms/vSFr4yzVeE

It would be very much appreciated and I aim to bring light to the topic of longer pregnancies. Thanks and best wishes,

Magda

Sleeplessme · 15/12/2015 08:12

Hey Persephone. Any news? Lol at your dream, topsy and Tims mum's affair! Brilliant. It's so frustrating when you think something is starting and it all dies down again isn't it. It's just cruel! I had the same last night. Had a sweep that went really well and loads of strong BH in the evening, but all disappeared again this morning. I am beyond fed up now. Angry going for reflexology tomorrow and she mentioned using Clary sage, yes please I'll take anything. Though not so sure about the castor oil, I hear the site effects are less than desirable... Are you going to try it? Hope you've had a good night and labour is not far off for you. X

jamtartandcustard · 15/12/2015 14:28

Well I'm now officially over-due. 40+1 today, I have a sweep tomorrow with the midwife so hopefully that will get things going otherwise I think I may request a c-section for next Monday (I've had a c-section with my 1st and consultants get funny with inducing after that). I want this baby out before Christmas!
I've tried sex, long walks and nipple stimulation and non of that has worked. I'd stay away from castor oil personally. Want to try clary sage but it's not easy to get hold of unless you order online and by the time it's been delivered I'd hope baby is here.
I swear this part is worse then the 2 week wait 9 months ago

Daffodil90 · 15/12/2015 15:04

Glad it's not just me over now! 40+6 today......never been more uncomfortable in my life!
Tried for a sweep last week but MW couldn't do it, trying again tomorrow so fingers crossed something gets started. I've eaten spicy food everyday and lots of pineapple and got nothing!
Will be 42 weeks on 23rd Dec at which point they'd be talking about induction - really want her out before Xmas!
What is clary sage? Never heard of it!

Persephone76 · 15/12/2015 17:11

Sleepless, jam and daffodil - so sorry to hear you are all still waiting! It would suck anyway, but Christmas looming makes it much much worse. I think you're wise to stay off the castor oil - I did ask in sainsburys pharmacy today but they didn't stock it and probably for the best. Diarrhoea and sickness is surely not the best start to labour, however desperate we are! I've got a sweep booked for saturday...i tried to get the midwives to agree to an earlier date but they wouldn't do it - "clinical guidelines" - which is odd considering i know loads of people who've had earlier sweeps than +7. I'm hoping they'll agree i cam be induced on mon at +9 instead of their normal policy of +11. My last child was induced at +12 and was born 12 hours after the gel. I do feel my body is showing more signs of being ready this time so not too much of a risk getting induced that lite bit earlier? The community midwives have been really unsympathetic and rather useless - I suppose they're getting lots of stressed pregnant women on their books getting in touch at the mo...

Sleepless, I've got my fingers crossed for your reflexology, hope it does the trick...ir the clary sage!

Jam - yes, it's annoying about the clary sage, I spent a tenner on a bottle and it prob won't even work....although I will def try again this evening! Don't blame you for going for the c-section option, at least you'll have an end date in sight.

Daffodil, that must have been disheartening with the sweep. I keep hearing of people who had successful ones but I had 2 last time and they didnt work. But hopefully being a week on tomorrow your body will be more ready. Clary sage is an aromatherapy oil that is meant to help bring on contractions...you bathe in it or massage it in. Hasn't worked for me yet!!

Fingers crossed for all of us! 16th dec sounds like a nice day to be born!

strawberryandaflake · 15/12/2015 19:41

Yeah I was never offered a sweep either, straight to induction for me. The it turns out I was already in the beginning of labour when I turned up but no one checked. Perhaps the pineapple did some good after all!

I have discovered that when people have said sleep beforehand they weren't kidding! Most waters break in sleep anyway so it's probably the best thing. Mine went after I sat up from a nap on the ward... Both lots... Pints of it! I looked like a fountain, gave me such a shock!

My dog is stuck under the bed. How long until it's one of the boys?

Daffodil90 · 16/12/2015 05:40

Well as it turns out I may not need that second attempt sweep after all......waters went at just gone midnight and ive been in some considerable pain since. Hoping todays midwife appointment tells me to go to hospital and that we're finally moving.....cant imagine these contractions are BH, wayyyyy too painful.
Will update later, and good luck to you guys too...you're right 16th Dec does seem a good date to be born xx

Persephone76 · 16/12/2015 08:11

Good luck daffodil, all sounds v promising! Got my fingers crossed for you, hope the pain is manageable Flowers

jamtartandcustard · 16/12/2015 11:12

ooo good luck daffodil! 16th dec does sound like a good date to be born.

been to midwife this morning, 1cm dialated, cervix soft but not quite there yet. she couldn't quite sweep the membranes but did give it a stretch. she tried to get me an appointment with consultant but he's fully booked for the next week so no C-section yet. have another sweep booked in for Monday anyway. fingers crossed all these babies get a wiggle on.

Sleeplessme · 16/12/2015 11:46

Good luck Daffodil! Brilliant news. Sounds like this is definitely it. Nothing here. I'm discussing a date for induction with MW tomorrow, which is likely to be Christmas Eve... Come on baby!

strawberryandaflake · 16/12/2015 18:19

Good luck Daffodil and Jam. You can do this! Smilexxxxx
