I'm 40+2 with DC2. DM is staying to look after DD1 when the time comes.
I'm fed up, we're just milling around waiting! Bouncing on the birth ball, eatinv pineapple and planning a spicy curry for tonight.

I'm tired and grumpy. Anyone care to join me? I'm clearly a delight to be around Wink

Ooh I never thought about acupuncture!! Great idea! Grin

grace11 · 30/11/2015 10:17

I'll let you know what I think - first session today at 11:30 to 'ripen' my cervix apparently! The session tomorrow is to try to bring on contractions. We shall see

Buttercup27 · 30/11/2015 10:22

Sex is the answer. My midwife said it's the only way to bring in contractions.
With both of my dc it brought in labour within 12 hours !

strawberryandaflake · 30/11/2015 10:22

Been at it like rabbits... Nothing! Not that I have minded Wink

grace11 · 30/11/2015 11:16

Yes been trying sex and nothing so far

Sleepybunny · 30/11/2015 12:21

Grace, do report back with how the acupuncture goes.

Also tried sex, no luck as yet.

SR my thoughts are the same as you on induction. I just feel like I can't wait anymore!

Someone just told me that I need to finish the decorating/tidying and get that satisfied feeling. It will stop the nesting hormones and trigger labour.

Off to b&q.

Sleepybunny · 30/11/2015 16:40

Ha! Good thinking Strawberry, we were doing a lot of DIY and painting over the last couple months and when we finished I was a bit deflated that I didn't just go into labour.

My sweep went well today, i'm 2cm.

I've had a bit of a show since and mild contractions have started! Could this be it!?

SerenityReynolds · 30/11/2015 16:57

That sounds very promising sleepy! Fingers crossed for you. Strawberry hope the DIY jiggles those babies along their way. Good luck with the acupuncture grace.

I saw mw today too. She said things have moved along since Friday and gave me another sweep (bloody hell, did she go for it too! Confused). Feeling a bit crampy with back pain since, so hoping things progress. Going back Wednesday if no baby before then!

strawberryandaflake · 30/11/2015 17:15

Good luck, Sleepy! Make sure you put a pic up when baby arrives!

What do they do in a sweep? I have never had one. The care around here is pretty poor though.

zeeemum · 30/11/2015 18:00

seems like forever those last few hours or even the last week seems like forever ... my doctor told me that semen is the most natural labor inducer ... i surly was not happy to hear that but my husband was the happiest even after 42 weeks in the morning i was going in for induced labor i woke up with natural labor pain and did not get induced ... so get happy and get under the blanket . and the BEST of luck and please do enjoy some sleep some restless nights are awaiting you .

strawberryandaflake · 30/11/2015 19:16

Would but the OH was in the room when the doc mentioned thrush yesterday and he's a bit squeamish so he's gone right off it for a few days!

grace11 · 30/11/2015 20:05

Sounds like you're definitely on the way Sleepy! Sweeps seem to work for a lot of people. I have a sweep tomorrow morning but I'm convinced the midwife won't be able to do it as my cervix is too high. Acupuncture was relaxing today and I felt that it created a heaviness around my pelvis - tomorrow will be the full treatment to bring on contractions so I shall report back.

Sleepybunny · 30/11/2015 20:14

Strawberry, a sweep feels a bit like a normal examination to check dilation, but a bit of stretching and tugging is the best way I can describe it.

I was told it's less uncomfortable than a speculum examine, but found it to be much the same. I guess it depends on who is doing it.

The idea is that they separate the membranes (fluid filled bag the baby is in) from the cervix. This can bring on labour.

There's probably clearer information on the NHS website.

My contractions are about 4-5 min apart lasting 30 sec, but not particularly painful or regular. Fingers crossed it's the real deal this time!

Our baby, Isabella Ruby, arrived at 3.25 yesterday! Afraid I have no tips as to what got it started (choc fudge cake?! Hmm)

Started with period pains and some cramping at about 11pm Sunday night, rang hospital at 8.30am Monday as wasn't sure if my waters had gone, contractions were a bit irregular at 7-9mins apart at that point. By the time we got to hospital at 9.30ish (fully expecting to be sent back home!) I was 7cm dilated and able to go in water pool.

All went well, she was born outside the pool at 3.25pm as contractions were starting to slow a little. Bit of a rough time getting the placenta out (2 injections. and lots of pushing/tugging by midwife!) and only a very small tear which, touch wood, seems not too painful at the moment!

She is currently sound asleep Smile

Good luck ladies, hope acupuncture goes well for those who try it. I looked up some stats which said of those who go to 41weeks 9 out of 10 will give birth spontaneously so don't fret!

SerenityReynolds · 01/12/2015 08:01

Yay loft!! Grin Flowers Congratulations!! Glad to hear your beautiful girl is here safely and it sounds like it went really well! Enjoy lots of snuggles with her today.

strawberryandaflake · 01/12/2015 08:28

Yay loft and yay sleepy!!

Ooooh this is unbearable now. I see I probably haven't had a sweep because there's two in there. I thought I had got away with no stretch marks too but left baby's butt is so big now it's actually causing them. There's a story for his 18th birthday.

Just have cramps this morning but that's been going on for weeks. Hurry up boys!!

grace11 · 01/12/2015 09:17

Oh that's great news loft!! Huge congratulations - sounds like you had a great birth experience too. I'm 41 weeks today and the only pains I'm feeling are from SPD which has now got so bad from 5pm I can't even walk! Midwife is coming over this morning for a sweep...

Sleepybunny · 01/12/2015 13:07

Good luck everyone! My sweep seems to have been sucessful at moving things along quickly.

I was 2cm at the midwife appointment around 4pm. Mild contrations started, but wern't regular. Went to bed a 10pm feeling a bit crampy, so took a paracetamol before before getting into bed.
Contrations were regular by 11pm and stronger. 12:30am arrived at the hospital and fully dilated shortly after 1am!!

Hope the wait isn't too much longer for you all.

Tiny baby snuggles are the best and you get to have two Strawberry!!

Hello All, I'm not overdue feels like I am I am 39 weeks today but really had enough! I am constantly being poked and battered from the inside by this baby.

Bouncy bouncy!

strawberryandaflake · 01/12/2015 14:06

Ha, yes. I think I should sign mine up for karate right away.

Definitely more bouncing today. 9 days until they are induced. If they are anything like me or daddy they'll stay put just to see what happens.

I just can't wait to see what they look like!

grace11 · 01/12/2015 17:06

Congratulations Sleepy - I'm assuming you've had your baby??

Acupuncture today definitely did something but mainly to my digestion!

strawberryandaflake · 01/12/2015 17:51

Oh but the body is supposed to have a clear out on the run up to labour so maybe it is working. When is your next one?

Hormonal1 · 01/12/2015 18:06

Waters broke at 5.30 this morning, hospital checked then sent me home. Not much happening at the moment so have been booked in for induction tomorrow morning. I'm hoping contractions start before then....please keep your fingers crossed for me! Grin

grace11 · 01/12/2015 18:34

Keeping my fingers crossed for you Hormonal - it's shame they don't give you 48 hours after your waters break. I know quite a few people who were induced after their waters broke and the labour was very quick so hopefully all will be fine either way.

Yes that's true strawberry - if I've not gone into labour I go again on Thursday. I've actually just had a sweep and I was 2cm dilated so she stretched me to 3cm - the acupuncture strangely felt much more intense than the sweep which was fine if a little vigorous.
