Support thread for the overdue and the just fed up

YY it's my third thread in as many days and I'm not even bloody overdue (39 weeks today!) but fucking hell I am so uncomfy (SPD plus arthritis is not a good combination with two mental lively DC now off school for a fortnight plus raging heartburn, exhaustion and repeatedly being kicked in the cervix).

Anyone want to hold hands while waiting for bloody contractions to start?

Yes please!!! 40+1 now, spd, mad toddler and already thought I was in labour twice, obviously not! Fed up to say the least!!!! How to cheer up and pass the time?! I'm also irrationally thinking the baby will never come, even though my head knows she must in the next couple of weeks..

It's so uniquely infuriating, isn't it?

I find it helps to have a reason to put it off. Eg last time my emergency childcare got pissed and my doula was away for the weekend, so I very much didn't want to go into labour then (actually had him the next day, childcare sobered up and doula made it for the last 20 minutes of so of labour Grin). This time, although I'm dreading the Easter break alone with two children, it would also be nice to have some time with just DH and the new baby once they are back at school, so am hoping to hold off for a few days at least (though if you want to come early, #3, feel free ...).

First two DC were overdue so not holding out a lot of hope for this one, though am desperately hoping for pinky mucus (sorry) every time I go to the loo, since that was my first sign last two times. Can't believe how much of my time I've spent over the past six years examining cervical mucus Confused

Glad I'm not the only one, not even sure how far along I am as 2 different due dates but both have gone now. With DS I went into labour the evening if my EDD, so I'm a bit surprised that I'm still here. Thought labour was imminent since last Tuesday and DH wouldn't have to go back to work... the thought of being on my own with crazy toddler arghh! Also have that irrational feeling that it's never going to come out! Am now kicking myself for shunning the RLT this time around... come on babies!!

39+4 here! First child so no idea what t expect!
Not too uncomfy but nerves are stopping my brain from swit Hong off so I can't sleep!!
Thing husband v much wanted it t b tonight so he would have no work t go to tomorrow!
I wish I had a crystal ball!!!!!!

I am 41 weeks today with DC2 and went into labour on my due date with DC1 so thought it would be the same this time round too! Already had 1 sweep and have got another one but have resigned myself to being induced. Feeling sad about it but have already tried all the old wives tales so nothing I can do but wait now!!

Morning! I'm sleeping so badly at the moment plus it's only 9 am and I'm already struggling to stand/walk because of my bad hip. Going to take the DC swimming then clock out for the day Grin

bec my scan due date is five days ahead of my edd by lmp and I'm absolutely sure of my dates but it's too depressing to think I might only be 38+4 instead of 39+1 :(

I do think nipple stimulation can help and am actually still bfing DC2 but firstly bfed DC1 all through pregnancy last time and still went 6 days over, and secondly fucking hate bfing atm so not sure it's doing much for my oxytocin levels!

Went for reflexology today, it was v relaxing! mmm nipple stimulation, I think if anyone goes near my nipples, they may end up dead. Luckily DS self weaned 3 months into this pregnancy. DH back to work tomorrow.

Reflexology sounds lovely, definitely better than nipple stimulation! Grin

Apparently if you go overdue here, you're offered either a sweep or an aromatherapy reflexology treatment ... so either someone forcibly inserting a finger in your cervix or a foot massage. Mmm, decisions decisions!

Woke up twice in the night for the loo and with acid indigestion. I thought once baby moved down a bit you were supposed to need the loo more but the heartburn wears off, seems unfair to have both. No sign of anything happening imminently

40+2 today, and after 3 nights of braxton hicks and convincing myself each time that I'll wake up in labour (or not wake, as not sleeping) get up to find everything has eased off Hmm

Have a MW appointment tomorrow, and she has offered to do a sweep, but I am in two minds as to whether to have it, as hoping for a homebirth and don't want to get things started if there not ready and then end up having to go into hospital as no progress etc.

This is DC#2 and my DD was 4 days early so never got to this point before. We have tried all the old wives tales to get him to budge, but I know deep down that nothing will work unless they are actually ready to come.....but when will that be!?

I also nearly murdered DP last night when I heard him say on the phone to MIL 'Yeah he is officially late now, blah blah blah' cue response to from me 'I am not 42 weeks yet, so no he isn't late' Grr

Ah, phew that feels better now I've got that off my chest Wink nothing like a good moan

39+3....i genuinely feel like the baby will never come! Ill just be in a state of constant pregnancy! Confused and I'm not even die until sunday!

I'm due sat chilliegg .. At the the beginning that date means everything but when u get t this stage the date means nothing!!

I know what you mean chiliplant I'm due Sunday, this weeks dragged longer than the whole 9 months! Confused Yeah its my first so most likely going to be bloody over due! Is this your first? Have you resorted to any home remedies i have! I keep eating vats of pineapple and curry, decided to start walking every where and do gardening go shift the little bean! Might even consider DTD with DH but that'll be when I'm desperate!

Everyone keeps texting and calling, asking if theres any sign! It feels like the never ending story!

Yes! ! 39+3 and bored. dd1 +2 off school. I have a soft tissue injury in my foot so can't walk and gave to keep foot elevated. Am booked in for a sweep at 41+1 but think I might go mad before then!

I have had a few friends text asking if any sign but I haven't heard from a couple of them for about four or five months so its a bit hmmm.
Also worried about having a sweep. I'm a bit prudish really and scared it will hurt! This is of course silly seen as how labour will pretty full on!
What is your plan for the birth?
Haven't tried any remedies yet. Did walk for half an hour today..to the park and then back so I guess that's an hour! Nearly killed me at the end!!

Im totally with you on the whole sweep thing! Mines booked for monday Hmm I'm sure it will be fine though chilliplant! You might not even need one!
My birth plan really only consists of give me all the drugs! I want dh to cut cord and no unaccompanied male HCP/drs. Im just planning to go with the flow see how it goes and take pain relief as an when appropriate. How about yours? Im not so worried about the birth because i know it will hurt but then it will be over. Well thats what i keep telling my self any way. Im getting more wobbly along the lines of will i be a good mum? How will i know what to do ?Etc

Well the plan us t give birth at the v local mlu which means only gas n air, yoga ball, aromatherapy and soft lighting!!
I was thinking about the good mum thing this morning. I kept thinking about how hard it will b t always worry about them!
I think everything is just so overwelming! X

Still no sign of baby here @ 40+4. I was hoping he would make an appearance before DD went back to school, but looks like he is way too comfortable in there!

How is everyone else getting on? I decided against the sweep yesterday, but have one booked in for next week, just incase he still isn't here.

MW said that after 40 weeks 65-70% of woman would go into labour without the need of any other induction, within 48 hours of having a sweep. Just incase that helps anyone with decision making. TBH though I think it's one of those things, that if your ready and baby is ready it'll give you a push in right direction, but if not then it won't have an effect. Much like sex, nipple stimulation, long walks, bouncing on exercise ball and everything else we are told to try Wink

Hello, this is the 3rd thread I've joined but the others seem to have tapered off. I'm 40wks today and doesn't look like this baby is planning to make an appearance any time soon. Had a scan on weds and they reckon he's a ten pounder Shock A man on the bus today asked me how many were in there as well Grin So I hope he comes out soon because I don't want him to get any bigger!!
Tried a hot curry, dtd, bouncing on the birthing ball and lots of raspberry leaf tea.
They attempted a sweep on weds but my cervix was much too high and it bloody hurt!! Shock Booked for another next weds so if he's not here by then I hope he's at least thoroughly engaged and the sweep can actually be done Hmm

Oh, also got some aromatherapy oils from midwife and tried stimulating nips with that. No joy, just felt weird Confused

Chillyegg and chiliplant this is my first too, although I'm only 38+4 at the moment. Chillyegg I think you're on the April thread with me aren't you.
Lots of ladies have had their babies on there now so I feel like I'm overdue already! But not due until the 20th!
RE home remedies none yet although I've been trying to find the Raspberry Leaf Tea everywhere but no shops local to me sell it, including Asda and Sainsbury's! Online it says that Tesco has it but it's a little further out so not sure whether to venture or not.
I'm going to start on the spicy food from the beginning of next week Grin.

Chiliplant I feel the same about the sweep! I'm not prudish as such but I am squeamish! I don't watch anything with blood or bodily fluids...that includes one born every minute! Shock

Oh and I'll add, I've had no BH's, no plug, no back ache as such other than when I've been walking, and only very light period type cramps but they always amount to wind Blush

RL20 I haven't had any of those symptoms either, although apparently with your first you can't always feel BHs.
Go to a health food shop for the raspberry leaf tea. When I went in to buy mine the woman behind the counter said "I guessed that's what you came in for!"
For me the worst sounding but apparently most likely to work is to swallow sperm Confused The prostaglandin it contains softens the cervix which is why doctors recommend sex, but some midwives have said it's absorbed better through your stomach. Don't really like doing that but will probably resort to it in the next day or two!
