Support thread for the overdue and the just fed up

YY it's my third thread in as many days and I'm not even bloody overdue (39 weeks today!) but fucking hell I am so uncomfy (SPD plus arthritis is not a good combination with two mental lively DC now off school for a fortnight plus raging heartburn, exhaustion and repeatedly being kicked in the cervix).

Anyone want to hold hands while waiting for bloody contractions to start?

PS have tried every old wives tale going the last few days - rasperry leaf tea, sitting on pilates ball, eating core of pineapple, eating hotter curry than my normal korma or marsala, long walks, finally resorted to sex on Sat night - lots of making the contractions worse, but nothing has shifted the waters, def lost bit of mucus plug early last week though...

catellington · 13/04/2015 07:43

Best of luck houghtonk76, hopefully your bh and sweep will have done something already.

I'm meant to have a sweep today but had no message with the time midwife is coming so I'm now hoping it actually got booked in. My last midwife appointment got lost in the computer system so I've little faith in all these bookings!

I had a sweep last time and prostaglandin gel at the same time and contractions started immediately, but it could have been the gel..plus my waters had gone. So not holding out much hope.

What makes it all worse is we are meant to have builders starting work refurbishing our outside loo on Wednesday. Really want them to do it but obviously don't want a home birth with a load of builders here so the pressure is really on!!

becsparkel · 13/04/2015 12:53

Had my little boy last night/this morning... 41 + 4 going by my dates (42 weeks by scan date) but he didn't seem over due. Lovely birth in pool at home. Now need some sleep. Good luck to you all x x

chiliplant · 13/04/2015 13:59

So glad all went well! Sounds like you had a good but tiring experience!
Hope u get lots of rest!x

lillamyy1 · 13/04/2015 19:39

Congratulations bec Flowers Sounds like the perfect birth!
Nothing much to report here. Had very strong BHs last night but all gone today.
Hope Chillyegg's getting on ok.
Labour-inducing fairy dust to everyone else waiting Star

TeachersPest · 13/04/2015 20:42

Congratulations becsparkel sounds like the perfect birth, I'd like one like that tooSmile Thanks for popping back to let us know, enjoy your little one Flowers

Nothing much going on here, same irregular BH although saying that, do feel a bit achy in my back this evening like before a period, but that could be from the extra weight and all the walking I've been doing to try at stimulate labour Hmm

Also hope chillyegg is getting on ok, and is just to busy snuggling her newborn to pop back in

TeachersPest · 13/04/2015 20:46

Lilla are you BH coming in the evenings? Mine seem to be there all night while I'm trying to sleep, but then as soon as the sun starts to rise they disappear! So frustrating, but trying to remind myself that they must be doing something.

Labour inducing fairy dust to you too Star

catellington · 13/04/2015 22:29

Teacherspest I get exactly the same. Bh very strong at night and a couple of nights have been regular intervals. No results yet though! Ie no baby

Sweep was earlier and haven't noticed anything new except a bit more mucus plug gone which I guess could be expected.

Many congratulations bec that sounds so wonderful!

chiliplant · 13/04/2015 22:52

Could I ask what your sweep was like? Bit nervous as having one on Friday..
I'm having strong braxton hix in the evening but not so much in the day. Also had lower back ache like mild period pain but then I was at a gig tonight so that might b it!x

lillamyy1 · 13/04/2015 23:32

A gig while majorly pregnant? I take my hat off to you chiliplant! Grin

I don't think I've had any BHs this eve, or if I have they've been too weak to really notice Confused I had them all eve yesterday eve until bedtime then they disappeared!
No signs at all for me today.

chiliplant · 13/04/2015 23:42

Ah, it was a green party gig so v tame! Good though!
Is this your first baby? Its my first baby so not sure what t expect with the birth!!I want t get on with it but also scared...hmm.x

catellington · 14/04/2015 01:32

Sweep was fine for me but some people find them uncomfortable I think. But I don't think it was a very thorough one as my cervix isn't totally effaced yet so more of a general rummage.

It's my second baby. It is a bit scary but relaxation is important try not to worry or panic as everything hurts more. I had a good experience with my first birth but I'm not taking it for granted as every time is going to be different.

I'm having the bh again tonight. Got woken up by a very strong pain and feeling I was about to be sick but have decided it must have been a digestion issue as it hasn't come back again! Dh got in from working late so at least I had some company whilst feeling sick!

lillamyy1 · 14/04/2015 08:59

It's my first. Some days I feel really nervous about it and others I just want to get it over with!
I've got a sweep tomorrow and really hoping my cervix is at least a bit ripe by then so I can ask them to book me for an induction.
I'm so, so fed up today with being so uncomfortable and finding every physical task difficult, and my knees are very sore from carrying all this weight around.
I ate a tin of pineapple last night but all it did was make my mouth sore!
I really had my heart set on a water birth with as little intervention and pain relief as possible which is part of the reason I opted out of the induction they offered me last Friday but now I've just got so impatient and just want to meet my baby ASAP by whatever means necessary!!

RL20 · 14/04/2015 10:33

Chiliplant and lilamyy1 I'm feeling the same! Want the birth over and done with now but also a bit Shock about it all, with it being the unknown!

No signs for me yet, no show/plug, no BH's, no contractions, only the odd slight period cramp, and what feels like a sharp pain down there sometimes, but I think baby must be very comfortable!

39+1

chiliplant · 14/04/2015 12:18

Its like a whole new emotion.
And can I just say, I really wanted toad in the hole but I knew how my h wind that would create ?? so didn't risk it. There is nothing more frustrating than confusing trapped wind and lower back mild contraction pain!! Grrrrr!x

RL20 · 14/04/2015 12:23

I agree! Every 'period ache' I've had amounts to wind!

lillamyy1 · 15/04/2015 10:36

Anyone got any signs yet? I've got a sweep at 2:50 today. I'm really nervous because when they tried to do one last week it really hurt - I think because I was so tense. And the midwife couldn't even reach my cervix!

TeachersPest · 15/04/2015 11:05

Good Luck for the sweep Lilla let's hope it gets things moving for you. Do you find a certain music relaxing? I wonder if you could play this in a head set during sweep to detract from it?

I have my sweep booked in for 2:30 tomorrow, really hoping that it might kick things off. Have planned a hb for this little one and really don't want to have to go down a hospital route, as my DD (10) would really like to be there when baby is born and Ive had the room set up ready for birth since 38 weeks with pool, bean bags etc, and really want to be able to use it!

Had a really hot curry last night, and went for a long long walk, thought things were starting as the BH ive been having seemed to be coming every few minutes and were tighter, and more uncomfortable, and could feel like a pressure in my bits which I thought may be cervix effacing... But alas nothing Hmm

Hope everyone else is getting on ok... And that all these babies get excited by the sunshine and decide to make a swift entrance in next few days x

rightguard · 15/04/2015 12:44

I'm still going. 40+3 today and really fed up. sweep booked for Monday. have been for a long walk but feet are so swollen I need to keep them elevated.

cowbiscuits · 15/04/2015 20:21

Can I join this thread?

I'm not overdue yet but I am fed up. 38+5 today. Huge and uncomfortable.Lots of BH and they seem to get stronger but I don't think baby will be arriving before due date. 9 days till due date but I'm trying to settle into the mindset that it's at least 20 days away, so that anything sooner is a bonus.

RL20 · 15/04/2015 20:47

How did your sweep go lillamyy1? Hope it went ok and wasn't too painful? I tense up in situations like that too, haven't had a smear test yet as I'm only 22 so unfortunately the only thing I can compare it to was when I had a clot that needed removing, after having a mc.
I plan to ask the midwife if my head/back can be lifted up slightly with a pillow, if I have to have the sweep, as for normal midwife appointments I have to lay flat which is uncomfortable at the best of times.

My due date is next Monday and had my midwife appointment today. She has said that if baby isn't here by then, then I have an appointment booked for next Wednesday when I'll be 40+2, and can have the sweep then if I like.

Cowbiscuits I think you're on the April thread with me, aren't you? Lots of ladies on there have had their babies now!

Still no signs here yet, no plug, no BH's, no contractions, just comfy baby!

chiliplant · 15/04/2015 23:09

I'm having a drama! Went t triage a couple of says ago with swollen foot and leg. Other one normal. Thought possible DVT so gave me shot of fragmin (blood thinner) and scanned me today nothing on the thigh but couldn't do calf as rock solid! Said they are in a difficult position because if they give me more fragmin to treat DVT then if I go into labour it would b dangerous as I would bleed a lot more..
We discussed it and I said t leave of fragmin I. Case I go into labour and t just monitor my leg at home. They were like ' if it gets hot..or cold..or more swollen or any pain, call us. If you have shortness of breath or chest pain ring us!! Its like when your 40+4 weeks pregnant u have shortness of breath and indegestion so how can u tell!! Eak!!
I'm on permanent foot watch.. Which I alternate with knicker watch!!!

Of course u can join cowbuiscuits!

Hello t everyone else!!!xx

lillamyy1 · 16/04/2015 00:01

Oh no chiliplant! I hope it all turns out ok!!
Teacherspest, that sounds like a lovely home birth, I really hope you don't have to go to hospital.
The sweep was just as bad as last week and my cervix was still posterior (too high I think that means). But I'm booked in for an induction tomorrow Shock
Very nervous, but glad that I'll get to meet my little chap in the next 2 or 3 days Smile

RL20 · 16/04/2015 06:16

Oh chiliplant hope you're ok! Not sure what your birth plan is if you have one, but maybe they'll give you an induction date if the problem persists? Like you say, it's hard to keep tabs on things already going on with your body, let alone keeping an eye on your legs too! I'd call them at any sign, just to be on the safe side. Thanks

Lillamyy1 yay for induction! Not sure whether you meant today or tomorrow as it was 1 minute past midnight when you posted! Lol. But good luck either way. Sorry that you're sweep wasn't great, not looking forward to mine if I have to have one! Will be next Wednesday when I'll be 40+2 if I do go over.
How far are you?

Hope everyone else is ok!

chiliplant · 16/04/2015 11:20

Thanks guys and good luck lillamy! My induction is not this sat but next sat if sweep doesn't work. I can honestly imagine kicking her hand out the way I'm so funny about someone down there! Irrational!
Had foot elevated in bed and swelling gone down a bit. Going t try and not do so much.
I'll b 40+14 when they are planning t induce me!! X
