YY it's my third thread in as many days and I'm not even bloody overdue (39 weeks today!) but fucking hell I am so uncomfy (SPD plus arthritis is not a good combination with two mental lively DC now off school for a fortnight plus raging heartburn, exhaustion and repeatedly being kicked in the cervix).

Anyone want to hold hands while waiting for bloody contractions to start?

Lillamyy1 I thought I had BH's a few times but I'm sure it's just baby sticking his bum out a bit as there are other movements too rather than my whole belly just going tight, but who knows!
I was going to go to Holland and Barrett but it's in the city centre and I really don't fancy a trip into town Confused. The Tesco's I mentioned is closer, it's just that I don't go that way for anything else but I might take a trip this weekend for some. I seem to be craving it even though I don't know what it tastes like!
Oh and I won't be telling that one to my OH! He'll think his luck is right in!
Had hardly done the actual deed throughout the pregnancy, as my libido has gone right out the window, so not sure if I could bring myself to do that Confused

chiliplant · 10/04/2015 18:52

Hello all, glad your all well enough and freaking out as much as me!
Just been t midwife who is lovely.. 45 main walk there and the same back!
Anyway, I'm a bit emotional as when she examined me she was like its a big baby for a little woman!!!!!
She says she will do a sweep if I like next Fri (that's her clinic) and then if nothing three days after I'll have an induction following week so two weeks from tomorrow. I know I could go into labour at any time so I'm been really silly but t wait two more weeks when your due date is tomorrow is annoying n loiads of pressure!
We haven't done the deed since finding out I was pregnant at five weeks so it would b too weird t do it now!!
I'm on the other thread but don't post much. I feel really out the loop and can't keep up with everyone. Always seems like fouxpau to not mention everyone.. I'm not that bright! I can't keep up!x

lillamyy1 · 10/04/2015 20:26

Chilliplant, my baby is apparently about 10lbs. I'm 5'3" Shock I totally know how you're feeling! Is the dad big? My DP is well over 6 foot what was I thinking!!
You could probably request your induction to be a bit earlier, or maybe a second sweep if the first doesn't work? You're entitled to a sweep from 40 wks but it depends if your body is ready eg the cervix has descended and started softening.
I was offered an induction today, my due date, because I'd had two episodes of reduced movements and been for monitoring, but my baby seems to be perfectly healthy and very wriggly now so I declined the induction because they said it's not really good for your body or for baby if you induce when your body isn't ready (which mine isn't - or at least, wasn't on weds).

Bloody hell though, I really hope he comes soon. I've got horrible indigestion, pregnancy rhinitis, a very sore throat which I've had for about 4 weeks now and which I can't take anything for, sooo uncomfortable in bed so can barely sleep and I'm waking up every hour anyway because I keep needing a wee! Got constipation now as well Sad

What discomforts is everyone else suffering?

RL20 · 10/04/2015 23:06

Lilamyy1 RE discomforts I've only had restless leg. I say only...it's so annoying when you're otherwise relatively comfy and I have to get out of bed for a walk!
I feel tired during the day but once I'm in bed, nope! I tend to sleep better in the morning. But we have OH's daughter this weekend (5yo) so not expecting the nice lie in I've been used to in the morning.
I'm panicking that because I've had no other discomforts, I'm going to make up for it in labour! Shock.
Although I did have nearly 18 weeks of constant 24/7 nausea and sickness in the beginning, which led to me having time off work, losing weight, not being able to eat properly, etc. so maybe I had my fair share of discomfort then!

chiliplant · 10/04/2015 23:06

He's about 5'11 slim with narrow shoulders. The narrow shoulders are v important t me!!
I don't really have symptoms..I've been v lucky. But trapped wind when the head is engaged is ridiculous! I think too maybe its starting a little but nothing.
Its a bit like the reverse of when your trying t get pregnant..u go t the bathroom hoping for a show or waters break etc and comne out disappointed when their is nothing!x

Chillyegg · 11/04/2015 02:15

Thanks lilamy Smile

Hey RL20, i am on the april thread! I cant really follow it either! I just love the spread sheet!

Currently up with a poorly tummy and worrying about the baby having reduced movements. Ive been in the hospital a few times and i hate hate hate going to the assesment unit. I always feel like a time waster.

lillamyy1 · 11/04/2015 03:02

Poorly tummy and reduced movements could be a good sign. You should go in, it's always better to be on the safe side.
I'm awake because I'm just so bloody uncomfortable and have such a stuffy nose that I can't breathe. Almost wishing I'd gone for the induction they offered me - I'd be on my way by now. Sad

becsparkel · 11/04/2015 07:57

How far along is everyone now? I think I'm about 41+3, starting to wonder whether baby will ever come out. MW wants us to book a scan if nothing's happened by 42 weeks... feeling really disheartened by it all, what's going on?! On the upside, have been having lots of curries, reflexology & watching Rik Mayall doc last night.. all very enjoyable!

lillamyy1 · 11/04/2015 09:45

Don't they induce you as a matter of course at 41+5 Bec?
I'm 40+1 now. Really wish I hadn't had so many people telling me about how their babies were early - I was half expecting him to make an appearance at 37 weeks so it feels like he's super late now even though he's not at all!!
Are you having professional reflexology? Is it expensive?
I wonder if OP has had her baby yet... She and a couple if the other first posters haven't been back on the thread for a little while...

catellington · 11/04/2015 09:58

Overdue and fed up, 40+5

Had a few nights of very strong bh with cramps, for hours at a time, strong enough to wake me up and can't sleep through. So basically exhausted and demoralised too

I think I need to try to stay positive.

Good luck to everyone else on here!

rightguard · 11/04/2015 10:09

Still going here. 39+6 today. No sign of anything ever happening. I'm going to be pregnant forever.

chiliplant · 11/04/2015 11:15

I'm 40 weeks today. Also feeling dfispondent. Plus keep getting annoying messages of any sign yet! Grrr. I'm going t b induced at 42 weeks if nothing after sweep next Fri!!x

ThereMustAndShallBeTea · 11/04/2015 11:27

Morning all, hello to the newcomers.

I'm 39+5, not sure if I'm in early labour?! Having rhythmic period pains which are mild enough to talk through but coming every 3 minutes and lasting 30 seconds. Baffled.

OP posts:
lillamyy1 · 11/04/2015 11:34

That sounds like labour from what I've heard other people describe. Is it cramps in your lower tummy like period pain or all over? I'd call my midwife and see what as says if I were you. Fx that this is it!!

becsparkel · 11/04/2015 15:24

Oh sounds positive ThereMust, could be your body warming up - good sign.

I'm with a team of home birth midwives, who are totally chilled about going over (unlike me!), I guess if I go much over 42 weeks, we'll talk again about induction but I haven't even had a sweep yet (I am massively anxious about internals). MW wants me to go for a scan at 42 wks to check fluid and placenta and if everything's fine, I'll just be monitored... but it's got to come before then surely?! Keep getting twinges that I think could be contractions, then nothing.

lil, had 2 sessions. 1st £40 then £35 but I'm in London, so might be cheaper elsewhere. It was really nice...

Chillyegg · 11/04/2015 23:01

Im in labour ladies wahoo!

lillamyy1 · 12/04/2015 00:36

Oh wow Chillyegg!! Congrats and good luck!! Grin
How did it start? What were the first symptoms? Are you in hospital yet?

TeachersPest · 12/04/2015 01:33

Congratulations Chillyegg. Good Luck, how exciting that you will soon meet your baby, wishing you a smooth journey to meet him/her Smile

Any tips on getting things moving? Still waiting here 40+5! Getting lots of tightenings in the evenings but they have all but worn off come daylight Hmm same thing for last 4/5 nights.

I'd be tempted to try reflexology, but I can't stand my feet being touched, though I did do some self reflexology when TTC, and I'm sure it helped to regulate ovulation. So maybe I might find out if there is something I could try myself.

Also whoever came up with the theory that ingesting sperm for the prostaglandin works best, must be a male ?? I think I'll give it at least another week before I'm that desperate and im certainly not passing the info on to DP he would think all his Christmases have come at once

becsparkel · 12/04/2015 11:14

Woo hoo, good luck chilly!!

becsparkel · 12/04/2015 14:58

I totally agree, ingesting semen is pretty low down on the list... poss lower down than c-sectionGrin

Acupuncture is supposed to be good too... if reflexology isn't your thing.

lillamyy1 · 12/04/2015 15:20

A few people on other threads have said a game if wii fit, long walks etc had worked for them.
When my mum went into labour with me her waters broke after carrying a heavy old-fashioned sewing machine out of the house and into a car Grin

becsparkel · 12/04/2015 20:36

Ok, think things might be kicking off! Getting contractions about every 10 mins I think.

TeachersPest · 12/04/2015 20:49

Ooooo lets hope so becsparkel Flowers

Fingers crossed that they continue, get closer together and stronger (in the nicest possible way)

That's how things started with DD... Every 10 minutes, then to every 7 minutes after few hours, then to every 3 minutes a few hours after that, total labour time 6.5 hours. Tbh I'm hoping for similar this time, if things ever get going.

I looked up acupressure points for inducing labour naturally so have tried that this evening, and will continue to do at intervals between now and bed and we will see if that can get things in motion.

Currently sipping raspberry leaf tea, and bouncing/swaying on a gym ball.

RL20 · 13/04/2015 06:18

Just catching up from a few days ago, good luck Chillyegg!

39 weeks today and no major signs yet, no BH's, plug, or big cramps etc. just indigestion and wind!ShockGrin.

Agree that the swallowing semen thing was most probably started by a man! Ha ha.

Hope everyone is ok Brew

houghtonk76 · 13/04/2015 07:33

Also overdue & fed up. Am 12 days overdue, hubby very excited for baby to come couple of weeks ago plus so he could finish work before school easter hols - he is primary teacher & this is our first baby. Being induced today thank goodness, but nervous & worried little man is gonna be big & long delivery / painful anyway. Was hoping for water birth with gas & air, but think ship has sailed!! Lots of Braxton Hicks 3 weeks ago ish & then pain of contractions (& what felt like serious cobstipation for more than 2 weeks) some days & nights due to sweep last Sat - horrid. Hoping am in early labour anyway, so can go in birth centre or he comes within like 6 hours, but wishful thinking; sisters little boy 11 days late, 56 hour labour in Nov so could be there days as waters still not broken yet!!
