Anyone else waiting for labour?!

Hello
I'm 39+4 with first baby and am poised waiting for labour to kick in any time this week or next week. Just wondered if anyone else was foot taping waiting for their bundle of joy to fill the crib?!! Confused
Also any thoughts on whether swimming still ok?! Am trying to keep busy but would hate for waters to break in a public pool Shock

Barry is growing at an alarming rate and I am too scared to investigate further as I think he has a little brother now!

LimeLeafLizard · 07/02/2013 17:14

Pickled, if you mean by 'going in the right direction' that you have pressure in the pelvis, that could well explain Barry's growth and the appearance of his little brother, right? And hopefully once your real baby has arrived and the pressure is gone, Barry & pal will tactfully retreat? Hope the twinges come to something.

I am feeling very heavy low down, just alot of pressure, esp when walking around.

ImGoing Smile @- 'the baby hasn't realised this'! My sweep result today was exactly the same as yours!

People keep giving me the old advice about pineapple, curry, sex and long walks. All perfectly enjoyable things if you're in the mood for them, but I'm not!

Cupcakemummy85 · 07/02/2013 17:19

I don't think I'm feelin much of anything today apart from really crap about myself an really low. Dd has exhausted me with her tantrums and I've just wanted to cry all day. I feel like I cannot move and I'm massive and fat lol. My psd us absolutely killing me and no one around me seems to get how painful it is.
Sweep tomorrow at the butt crack of dawn and I don't think it will do anything :( someone pick me up from this weird and dark mood I'm in :( I just want to c my baby.

PickledInAPearTree · 07/02/2013 18:24

LLL - that's made me feel a bit better!

katolla · 07/02/2013 18:32

Second sweep today, induction booked for Sunday :(

PickledInAPearTree · 07/02/2013 18:33

No joy from the sweep?

katolla · 07/02/2013 19:59

My cervix is soft but still an inch long apparently. BH are very frequent and very painful but not regular so not proper, probably just walked too far today (5 miles). Don't want an induction but I'll be 42 weeks on monday. UGH. :(

PickledInAPearTree · 07/02/2013 20:00

I really hope you get done movement before then.

MrsHBaby3 · 07/02/2013 20:39

hi can I join? Im 37+4 today but would will this baby out if I could! I saw my mw yesterday and she said it'll be a few more weeks which I know really but I still want baby NOW! Ive started the old raspberry leaf tea, and your posts have prompted me to get my lazy ass of the sofa and onto my birth ball. My mw thinks Im further along than I am (38+1) and says I can have a sweep at her 40 weeks, but I'll only be 39+3- my instinct is no it's too early, but do you think it would do anything?? Any harm?

MJP1 · 07/02/2013 20:50

Im still waiting been having twinges since Sunday BH, stomach ache, backache etc still nothing it keeps coming and going, been cleaning, bouncing, walking, etc PLEASE COME NOW LITTLE BABY.
I am due Monday so I know its early its just all these signs that things are occuring !!!

Plus is it normal to be SO VERY HUNGRY at this point?I cannot stop eating

Moochicken · 07/02/2013 23:00

Meant to update sooner.

DS arrived just after midnight on Monday morning. Had mild contractions all day on Sunday that went from every 20 mins to every 3 to 5 mins over the course of the day. When I went to the hospital to get checked the midwife said it wasn't established labour and that my cervix was still quite long. She gave me a sweep and we we told to go back home. Within 10 mins the contractions were very strong and then my waters broke in the car journey home. DS was born around an hour and a half after labour started.

The whole experience was pretty surreal after my previous labour, which was a 2 day long induction ending with a forceps delivery.

Now we just need to get to grips with sleeping and feeding!

mmmmsleep · 08/02/2013 07:11

Congratulations moo chicken. You give me hope that my second time around will be easier than first too! Good luck for some sleep. X

PickledInAPearTree · 08/02/2013 09:37

No other news? I don't feel "birthy ". Today!

Actually feel quite chipper this morning!

HermioneE · 08/02/2013 10:10

Congratulations moochicken!

No news here, just uncomfortable with backache. Considering scrubbing the kitchen floor to get things going, but it seems a bit drastic tbh

Cupcake and katolla I hope your sweeps are having the right effect!

ImGoingToCountToThree · 08/02/2013 10:15

Congratulations moo!!

I had period type pain and backache in the night after my sweep but nothing this morningHmm

Good luck to you all today. I hope those sweeps are having a effect.

emsyj · 08/02/2013 11:04

Congratulations Moochicken - fingers crossed for all the others still waiting for babies to arrive. It is totally worth waiting for - and the feeling of not being huge and pregnant any more is BLISS, hope it's not too much longer for everyone.

Smile
Cupcakemummy85 · 08/02/2013 13:36

I've had my first sweep and the midwife said my cervix is favourable and I'm 1-2 cm already. Is that good? My dd was up all last night so I'm not sure i have the energy for labour but I'm eating lots of biscuits for the energy of course ;)

bangersmashandbeans · 08/02/2013 13:39

Think I need to join this thread! I'm 39+5, had a sweep yesterday, had a show and have had some pretty savage tightenings and now 'loose' bowels....someone tell me it's happening soon??!!

NAR4 · 08/02/2013 14:16

Congratulations Moochicken.

Sorry bangers by I have been like that for the past two weeks and still nothing. I'll cross my fingers for you though that yours soon becomes established labour.

bangersmashandbeans · 08/02/2013 14:22

Aah don't tell me things like that!!! Bouncing bouncing bouncing....curry for lunch blah blah blah! Confused

PickledInAPearTree · 08/02/2013 14:28

That sounds promising bangers - get timing them.

Your user name has made me want bangers mash & beans now though!

NAR4 · 08/02/2013 14:28

Is it your first bangers? It is more likely to mean labour will start soon if it is. Mine is my fifth and they are often very slow to get labour going unfortunately.

PickledInAPearTree · 08/02/2013 14:29

Oh NAR4 - Argh!

bangersmashandbeans · 08/02/2013 14:32

It's my second but was induced at 38 weeks with my first so not used to this waiting game! My best friend lives in Australia and has a family emergency so is back for a week very suddenly from Sunday so I'm under big pressure to get this baby out!

NAR4 · 08/02/2013 14:38

I have my fingers crossed for you bangers.
